The item was as decribed and delivered within the timescale. However their was an optional extra that could be purchased that was one of the reasons for purchasing this item but not available at that time. Upon speaking to an assistant I was informed that the optional extra was no longer available and that the product may be an "End of the Line". If I had known this at the start I would have looked for an alternative product.

Unfortunately ive not had a good experience purchasing a chess set from Farrar & Tanner. Its more my fault than Farrar & Tanner as the item supplied were not the size or product i was looking for. This is simply a problem of buying online without the visual inspection when buying in shops.

The reason for only 3 stars was I was offered a free engraved message on the boxed malt whisky, plus my name as who the gift was from. The recipient had no idea and only found out by chance when he called me about another matter. Not good. I had filled in all the details on the order form. In fact the form itself from Outdoor 365 was not clear and in the end I had to phone them to make sure that the whisky was sent to the recipient's address not to me. Comparing the costs involved by purchasing through you proved over £20 more expensive than from competitor's prices for the same malt whisky even with carriage charged.

To clarify, the engraving process requires selecting the personalisation option on the product page, which then takes you to a preview gallery where you can enter your message and confirm before proceeding. It seems this step may not have been completed, which is why the engraving wasn’t included. We understand how disappointing this must have been, especially as it was intended as a thoughtful gift.

The outside of board is as expected, inlaid with shell and wood and is very pretty. The inside (backgammon board) however is most definitely not ‘inlaid’ and looks like the pattern is only printed as it’s completely smooth (also does have a rough lumpy fault in the varnish). As the backgammon board was the reason for purchase, it’s actually really disappointing.

The gift has not arrived yet and was suppose to arrive before christmas i understand this is not the fault of Farrar & Tanner however i've struggled to get in contact

Hi Juliet, Thank you for your review. Your order was dispatched on the 7th of December on our standard delivery, which we advertise as 5-10 working days. A fast delivery but I was really disappointed with the engraving, very small I could only see it if upto the light I would have returned it but was a Xmas present for my son and had to get it posted.

Although I recieved the goods in a reasonable time frame - this wasn't without it's issues. The parcel was sent without having my door number stated on the address! I was contacted by the post office to ask me my door number before they could deliver it. I checked on my account with you for the billing address & it appears to be ok. So, although I did recieve it - a rather expensive item could've easily gone missing! Please can you look at this issue. Once recieved - I was very happy with the goods

I ordered wine as a birthday present for my friend. I have bought alcohol for her before but I found the purchasing and delivery process very clunky and off-putting. Firstly the Age confirmation app didn't work in spite of me providing accurate information from my drivers licence and voters roll etc. Then Royal Mail required my friend to provide proof of her age as well. I understand you need to comply with regulation on sales of alcohol but there must be an easier process.

Hi Lynne, I can only apologise for the Age Verification process not going smoothly. It is law for the retailer and the courier to check ID on anything you need to be over 18 to purchase, so unfortunately we cannot change that process. We are looking to change the provider we use for Age Verification so hopefully that irons out any problems you experienced. Best wishes, Stacey

Nice item but you nearly can’t read the name, it is like si MONI, s and I is very very thin. For an item in that price category a bad engraving is annoying.

My initial contact was extremely disappointing,in that I was not able to speak to a member of your sales team.....please hold you are number one in the queue. I abandoned the call,after TWENTY MINUTES The following day I contacted your showroom,and was able to secure a purchase.
