The carving set I ordered is of reasonable quality but the accompanying box looks cheap and is very poorly finished. It’s a pity that this aspect of what should be a quality gift is so shoddy.

Good product dispatched and arrived very quickly. However we were upset to find that the box had been damaged presumably when the glasses were taken out for engraving. The company seems genuinely concerned. The glasses were as a gift so we wanted a replacement box which they were unable to supply although one assume that they had goods in stock and could have taken a box from there. We were offered a reasonable discount but stil it left a bit of a sour taste to have to give a gift in a damaged box.

Hi Jefrey, Thank you for your review, I'm very sorry to see that the presentation boxes arrived damaged, I do remember our email thread regarding this. Having checked with our stock manager we unfortunately do not have any spare presentation boxes to offer and offered the partial refund to compensate for this. They arrived at Jo’s with one stem broken in a couple of places. They were a 60th birthday present from me to her, still waiting to hear from company COMPANY RESPONDED AND ISSUED A REFUND

Bought a leather apron for my dad's 60th present. Whilst the quality of the leather is good don't bother getting it engraved. As other reviewes have commented it hardly stands out and the way it appears on the website is misleading. A big shame as its a gifted present.. not worth the price tag.

All good overall but not clear understandable site - unable to find opposite text option ( left /right option ) also not clear extra text/costs .

Hi Robert, I'm so sorry for your disappointment. There is no left/right option on the site so I'm sorry if there was any confusion there. We have a flat fee for the engraving per product, there are no hidden or extra costs for more text; we would make that clear on the site if that were the case. Customer service put the phone down when I asked about billing, leather creased at the bottom left corner, and the engraving on the leather is practically invisible

Nice knives although I am slightly underwhelmed by them, especially given their price. The packaging does not look of a high quality and the box was dusty.

Immediately on placing order for 2 personalised wine boxes with wine I amended to exclude wine. This did not happen. Delivery was made and the boxes were wrong. One for Mr Forbes Connor should have been dark red wood BUT both came in light wood. Most unimpressed with first dealings with Farrar & Tanner. Andy Speirs

This was my first experience dealing with Farrar & Tanner. I have not been too impressed: I tried to amend my order - failed Communications with Farrar & Tanner via email was a bad failure It was difficult to obtain a detailed deliver date 7 time Most importantly, I ordered 2 engraved boxes and one was the wrong box Sorry, this will be my first & last time dealing with them

The product is as generally good quality although I wasn't expecting plastic counters. The main fail was the packaging. The outer box was damaged due to the packaging box being too small. Not the worst thing but an unnecessary reason to take the shine off a small indulgence.

The engraving looked perfect and I am happy with the quality of the design. However, the blade arrived with several scratches and blemishes. I am disappointed with the handling and quality checks that allowed this through.

Very good customer service and product was delivered promptly. Slightly disappointed with chess pieces as some wobble over when placing them possibly due to green felt underneath not being placed centrally under all of the pieces.

The chess set didn't look like picure at all. Pieces looked different. The soft part inside the storage box is made cheap and quite careless though the set was over 100

The strain or due that was put on the wood was not even and as soon as it was taken out of the box the brass inscription feel off, also the lining on the kids is loose I was disappointed as it was a Christmas present for my son.

Placed order on the 5th but ihas not arrived. They are not answering the phone and my emails get an automated response. WHY?? You should not be using Royal mail at this time, as you are letting your customers down. The knives are excellent quality, but customer service poor.

Hi Robert, I can see your item is now delivered, the postage cost was refunded as well. Unfortunately, everybody seemed to be experiencing delays with postage and we have been overwhelmed with calls. We are working through calls and emails, and we're pleased to see that parcels are getting delivered although I appreciate that they are arriving late. We are up to date with our dispatch, it's a backlog with Royal Mail that is causing the delay to delivery. Glad the parcel is now safely with you. Best wishes, Jude
