I placed a relatively large order for bare root perennials in February. They arrived in March and I was delighted with how they were packaged and the apparent quality…..except for the six agapanthus roots. They were bedraggled and slimy. However, I planted them following the instructions to the letter. After five weeks everything is flourishing…except the agapanthus. No sign of anything. I have emailed FG customer care and heard nothing after a couple of polite follow up mails. I would love to shop in the sale but feel that I am six plants down, not having any of my agapanthus twister poking through. I hate leaving negative reviews but am a bit sad that FG customer care can’t be bothered to respond

Having never bought begonia tubers before, I don't know if these are good or not. All I can say is that they are considerably smaller than the ones which appear on the website cupped in someone's hands. The proof of how good they are will depend on the plants which grow from them and it's too early to comment on that. I was very disappointed with the delivery service. I was told they would be delivered in March, which was good because I was due to go on holiday on 31st March. However, they were not despatched until 28th March and did not arrive until 2nd April, which was a Sunday. Having checked the tracking daily to that point and not expecting a Sunday delivery, I was amazed when I logged on to my email at 11.15 a.m. to find that all the tracking and delivery information had been sent that morning (i.e. the delivery company had received the parcel from their hub, put it out for delivery and delivered it ahead of the notified delivery slot) and I was therefore unable to divert the package. It was left in full view of the road and I had to arrange for a neighbour to retrieve it. Your instructions about the delivery were that the box should be opened and the tubers given air so I had to ask my neighbour to do this as I would not be home for 10 days. Because they were not delivered at the time I was initially told, both me and my neighbour were put to a great deal of trouble.

Hello, We're sorry to hear that your parcel was delivered while you were away. If you contact us with any delivery instructions when you receive your shipping confirmation email, we will be happy to pass the instructions on to the courier to hopefully avoid any inconvenience. Some begonia varieties grow from tubers which are larger than others, but they all should grow and flower well in the first year. If you have any concerns about the tubers you have received, please do send some photos of them to customercare@farmergracy.com and we will be happy to check whether they are typical or if they need to be replaced. First delivery from Farmer Gracy. The jury is still out. Two of the three Hosta Blue Mouse Ears are growing well, the third hopefully on its way. Hosta Forbidden fruit also showing growth, but extremely disappointed with Hosta White Feather, which showed no signs of any growth from the crown on arrival and has not yet produced any signs of sprouting. It’s been planted for about 2 weeks now . Will give it two more weeks , before requesting a refund/replacement.

Late delivery of bare root perennials is not a good idea I am afraid. Most looked very dead when they arrived and I fear only 1 out of 4 plants will survive after very carefully potting on. The Echinacea was clearly dead when packed for dispatch. Not impressed.

I have always been happy with purchases from Farmer Gracy. However this year I received a Delphinium bareroot: polar sensation which had a rotted crown. I straight away emailed them, expecting a reply within the usual 24-48 hours as they say. Sadly, it's been nearly a week, and after several follow up emails about the same thing, I have had NO reply from anyone. I cannot put into words how disappointed I am in the customer service at Farmer Gracy.

Hello, We're sorry to hear that your Delphinium has arrived in poor condition. We will be happy to send you a replacement and if you have contacted customercare@farmergracy.com, one of the team will get back to you as soon as possible. Our inbox is busy during April and response times can be longer than usual. Please note that if you send additional emails on the same email thread, they do go back to the end of our email queue which delays our response unfortunately. Disappointed this time, plants much smaller than I expected. Been to local garden centers and the sizes are much bigger for the money, won’t be buying again.

Unfortunately for three years running I have had limited or little success with these bulbs. The advice when first tulips were stunted was I had failed to water them which I hadn’t. They are stunted again this year unlike the tall elegant ones bought elsewhere. Also over three years many tulips have not flowered at all. Of over 30 anemone bulbs only three have flowered. It was also suggested that I may have used old compost which I had not. They often give credit notes which is nice and generous but I am overall disappointed with their bulbs and some of their bare rooted plants and dahlia tubers which again have failed to flower. Shame as I have spent a lot of money with this company.

Had an order for some bare root perennials, unfortunately the size of the bare roots were disappointing and I actually accidentally threw a couple of them away by mistake as so small. These plants are going to take some time before they are of any decent size. What with that and the delivery from Evri it has put me off of mail order in the future.

The Tartan Dahlia tubers were dreadful quality compared with some of your competitors. They arrived packed yet badly damaged (not in transit), I doubt very much that 2 out of the 3 will come to anything at all. I was very disappointed. The Bergers Record were ok but nothing special. Doubt I will return as a customer when Sarah Raven & Woolmans were of far higher quality this year.

I am not too sure about the quality of the dahlias I received. It seems to me that the "necks" of the tubers were broken. From what I understand on this, they won't grow. I have potted them up and will wait and see what happens.

The products I ordered were delivered in a bank holiday weekend so that by the time I got back they had been sitting there 4 days in their packaging. Furthermore, the quality of the plants was very poor and very very small, showing no signs of germination in 2 of the 3 cases. Won’t be using the company again.
