I can't say I had the best experience of the customer service at Dorset Vehicle Rental. I arrived at the designated time of 08:00 but there was no one attending the reception. A member of staff strolled across the road at 08:10 with breakfast items in hand, I presumed he had gone to the nearby shop perhaps. He dealt with the first customer waiting for a vehicle and this took about 30 minutes, by now I was running late to take my children to school but the other member of staff present in the building did not offer to help me with the necessary paperwork to acquire the hire car. On returning the vehicle, the tank was very almost full with fuel and I asked if I could perhaps receive a refund to cover the cost but I was bluntly told this wasn't policy so I effectively lost £40/£50. Some discretion might have been considered.

I can only apologies that the staff were not in the office on time, I will make sure the Branch Manger is spoken to in order to prevent this in the future. Sometimes hires do take a little longer for example, if customers do not bring in the correct documents we require to hire a vehicle but we do try to resolve all issues as quickly as possible and again I can only apologise for the inconvenience. Not all of our staff members are trained on the system we use in order to complete hires so it's most likely they were just simply unable to help. With regards to the fuel vehicles need to be returned with the same amount of fuel they had on collection. Unfortunately we do not give refunds for excess fuel and it does state this on our website in the FAQ's page.

Andy at the Weymouth branch always goes out of this way to help us correctly pick the appropriate vehicle we needed. We always use DVR when renting a vehicle not only because of the great value but the fantastic customer service. Recently our personal vehicle was hit and our insurance company couldn’t find alternative car hire due to it being a Sunday, one quick call to Andy and we had a vehicle within 2hrs. Need I say a more!!! Keep up the great work

The member of staff was very helpful and the vehicle was easy to book online and a good price, on picking up the vehicle it was very clean etc and having the key drop box was an added bonus as you can drop off even during the office closed times. Parking our own vehicle was easy as the railway station is just next door. The only improvement would be that the vehicle should have a full fuel tank on collection and returned full but then the fuel station was only across the road, just think when you pick up the vehicle you want to be on your way to your destination rather than filling up with fuel.

With regards to fuel, unfortunately for security reasons we tend not to have vehicles full of fuel, instead we request vehicles are returned with what they are collected with. I had booked a van for a Friday but was warned that preparing the paperwork etc could take a little time at "rush hour" first thing in the morning. So I decided to sort the paperwork the afternoon before so I could collect the van promptly at 08:00 the next morning. To my delight, I was encouraged to take the van on the Thursday early evening which was brilliant. The van was in excellent condition and I was able to achieve everything and more. Thank you, Dorset Vehicle Rentals, you are the best!

Superb service..very helpful. Vehicle in excellent condition. Very friendly service… appreciated the call to say van could be collected 2 hours earlier than expected.

I have hired cars and vans from Dorset Vehicle Rental for more than ten years and they are simply the best, most friendly, efficient and affordable hire service I have ever used by a long mile. I have no complaints at all.

I had had the scruffiest van on the fleet, which also had a problem with its gears mostly going into and out of 3rd gear! I emailed yourselves about this issue on the day we hired and heard nothing from you in response, so despite paying just like everyone for a days van hire it made for an unpleasant journey to Devon and back delivering furniture. I understand these things happen but a response would have been helpful on the day

Hi Claire, Please can you confirm which email address you sent the email to so that we can locate it and make sure it wasn't missed? On your rental agreement there would have been a 24 hour contact number to call for any problems so you would have had a response faster this way. Nice new van, pickup was simple despite Covid restrictions and deposit returned immediately. Would definitely use them again.
