I like the razor handle and the engraving is a nice touch the delivery is a great idea too and the price is reasonable. My one complaint would be in the blade itself, I feel it needs more lubrication so it glides better. When I'm shaving it feels like its pulling slightly. Other than that I'm pleased with the product

Oh no! So sorry to hear that Matthew, our blades are angled a little differently and can take a little getting used to. Please get in touch with help@cornerstone.co.uk for a full refund if you're not happy. I hope your cut heals soon.

Thank you for this product - I have given 3 stars only because, while i have not personally experienced any issues, I'm unsure if many other men of my ethnicity have used this product and had any problems. Black men, typically, are prone to shaving bumps due to the facial hair being more curly and increasing the likelihood of in-growing hair. I'm unsure if the Cornerstone blade has been designed with the Black man in mind - not all blades are beneficial for us - in fact some experts even say that a single blade works better for Black men. Can you confirm if the needs of Black men was something you looked at in the design process? Other than this I am enjoying the experience - still getting as smooth a shave as I was with the Gillette Mach 3

Thank you for your review, Junior. Of course! We've gone through many revisions of our razor to get to where we are now; and we've considered all hair types along the way. We're happy to hear that you're enjoying the shave :-)

I have always looked for better shaving products and thought I would try the Cornerstone products. Unfortunately Cornerstone did not live up to its PR. The razor is very similar to the King of Shaves Azor and performs in a similar way. It does not give a very close shave and left me with multiple cuts, even though I did follow the instructions to the letter. The after shave balm felt and smelled nice but did not moisturise and left the skin feeling dry. Other people may not feel the same but as a daily and sometimes twice daily shaver I have tried most new products and still revert back to the Wilkinson and Gillette offerings.

I recieved my razor today and was very impressed with it and the packaging. Things that I weren't to impressed with was the razors plastic head that doesn't work aswell as the others like Gillette or Wilkinson sword top shavers. Also found the shave gel to be very thick but of a nice scent. The concept of the replenish every couple of months is a great idea and if it wasn't for the shaver head being plastic and I find it doesn't Contour my face as well others. If they improved this over time I would of definitely Continued my subscription and will check back in a few months to see if they have upgraded it. I thought the letter detailing even tho only 3 letters was a really nice touch.

Thanks for your feedback Scott. It can take a bit of time to get used to the weight and angle of a new razor, so you might find it worth persevering. We do have a new razor in development, so do give us another go once that's released - hopefully we can tempt you back ;-) Thanks for giving us a try.

So firstly I will open with saying there is nothing particularly wrong with this razor. That aside, the hype from the web and indeed other reviews was leading me to experience some almost mythical shaving experience, which I did not. Starting with the journey, the packaging looks good, the message is strong and the branding is clear. The box overall is nice, although the individual box for the blades themselves just has them sliding around inside. The handle is o.k., the engraving is not as wide or deep as the web images suggest, but hey, its no big deal. The plastic insert in the end of the handle actually seems to cheapen it a bit sadly, but overall it all looks good. Once you're into the shaving journey, then things get more ordinary. I bought razors and the green shaving gel, and I always shave in the shower. First go I struggled with the gooey green gel which just seems to be over-thick for the job and not really a step forward - I think personally it is actually too thick and blocks the blade up. Then onto the razor itself: Most premium razors have a pivoting head which gives 45 degrees of practically pressure free rotational pivot, based around a central axis directly behind the head. My main issue with the cornerstone razor is it relies on pressure through the handle to bend some flexible stems on the head itself to achieve any bend, and that have a pivot is on the way back towards the handle. There is no mechanism for rotation, just some bendy plastic. This means you have to press a lot harder on your face to get the same rotational effect that you get with other razors, also despite a lot of effort I just can't seem to get this razor to shave my chin and under my jawbone effectively, something I attribute to the pivot being in the wrong place, so pressure is being applied retrospectively once you're passed where it is needed. I spent time benchmarking this razor against a Gillette Fusion and a Wilkinson Sword Quattro Titanium. I shaved half my face with one and the other half with another, then swapped over for an immediate second shave to see what either razor could improve on. I learned over several days that on the flat of my face, the Cornerstone performed pretty much as well as the others when used with standard (not Cornerstone) shaving gel. With its own gel I couldn't get it to work as well. Under the jawline and around my mouth however it was another matter, both the Gillette and the Wilkinson Sword were doing a lot of "tidying up" after the Cornerstone. Overall, this razor is "fine" - it works as well as any triple blade I have bought, but compared to the market leaders it just doesn't seem to be there. This would be absolutely fine for me if the price point was different, but the Cornerstone blade is in a premium place at £14 for 6 (£2.33 each) - when you can buy Fusion blades at 4 for about £10 even without any supermarket offers (2.50 each) and Quattro's are way cheaper at £1.88 each (4 pack for 7.50 from Tesco) If you want something that is a bit "different" and will do a perfectly "fine" job, then Cornerstone ticks the boxes, but I think there is a bit of evolution of the razor head to be done before I'm going to swap over from my other shaves (and that Gel needs a re-think). I joined, shaved for a while, and am now leaving Cornerstone. I genuinely wish the Company luck, and I may well be back for the next generation of products.

Thank you very much for your detailed review, Matt! As a small-startup we rely heavily on the feedback of our customers to make adjustments and improvements to our products. I've passed on your comments to the team, and we will consider the points you've made when finalising our new razor design. We hope that you'll be willing to give us another go in the near future!

I would rate the razor and shave gel as good , shaver could be improved by having a single trimmer blade. However low overall score let down by packaging not fitting through a standard letter box which means that I will not use again.

Hi Tony, Thanks so much for your review Tony! I'm so glad you liked the razor and gel - we're working on a new razor with single trimmer blade too! I'm sorry your box didn't fit through your letter box - they fit through the majority of post boxes, or some members get the boxes sent to their work. We're working on reducing the size of the box too, so perhaps we can lure you back in the future ;-)

Loved the deliveries and the design of the products but the quality was questionable. The shave was average but I wouldn't recommend for those with sensitive skin, I've had a few shaves with it now and my necks been red-raw. Great product: shame it doesn't seem compatible with me.

Hi Sam, thank you taking the time to review our products. We're sorry to hear that the products didn't work for you. Our razors use sharp, fine blades, designed to reduce drag and irritation, so many members with sensitive skin do report benefiting from the use of a Cornerstone razor. I'm sorry this hasn't been the case for you. If you would like to arrange a refund, please do not hesitate to contact help@cornerstone.co.uk, and our care team will help you out.

I love the service and the website, a brilliant idea like many others have said. Unfortunately I just cannot get along with the product. Having used it for around 2 weeks now, I will carry on as I'm starting to wonder if it just takes time to get used to the different razor and shaving gel but thus far I have found it quite irritating and sore on my skin and for the first time ever encountered slight shaving rash. Also the shaving gel has a 'distinctive' smell.

Hi John, Thanks very much for taking the time to review our products. It does occasionally take a little while for the skin to adapt to a new shaving routine so we very much hope your perseverance pays off. Please don't hesitate to email us on help@cornerstone.co.uk if you have further thoughts or comments.

Received my first pack today. I only ordered blades this time as a comparison against the fusion blades that I currently use. The box fitted through my letterbox easily so no trips to the sorting office! The razor handle is very light and I like mine heavier. Just my preference. It looks well made however and presents itself as a quality product. I had 4 days growth so I was quite stubbly. The shave was close and left very little irritation so im very happy. The true test will be the longevity of the blades because at £14 for 6 blades, there isn't any real competition against the best sellers unless they last longer. Time will tell. Good so far!

I was hoping for big things with Cornerstone and found the gel, balm and scrub to be OK (although the scrub is ridiculously messy) but the blades themselves did disappoint slightly requiring more pressure to get a similar shave to my usual Gillette blades. I also REALLY missed having a single blade on the back of the cartridge to get those difficult to reach areas.

Hi Andy, sorry to hear that your Cornerstone shave could have been better. We agree with you about the scrub and trimmer blade- we're actually already working on a new, thicker formula for the face scrub and also working with our German partners to bring out a new razor with a trimmer blade on the back. If you like, we can let you know when they're both available and perhaps you can give the new products a go? We generally have pretty good feedback from our customers but I do appreciate it's also down to personal taste, however we are continuously working on making improvements to all our products and services so if you'd be open to trying out the new products when they become available that would mean a lot to us!

Well this product had a lot to live up to considering previous reviews... Personally I really like the concept but as previous reviewers have said it just falls short on delivery. . 1. The pre shave scrub as previously mentioned is a bit thin...and seems to go everywhere...I previously used origins and found this a far superior product. However the origins scrub is a bit more costly. 2. Shave gel is o.k personally I prefer shave cream rather than gel as it seems to soften my facial hair and i get a lot less abrasion better for when I shave...again I really rate the origins product for this...I guess it is down to personal preference. Though id have concerns that a cream may clog up the blades. 3. The blades....I do have quite tough facial hair but id shaved 2 days before I received my cornerstone box....The blades were o.k. but left patches which I had to redo a couple of times before they removed my stubble...which isn't great and the shave felt quite abrasive I don't know if that is the fault of the blades or gel. So far my best shave has been with a wilkinson razor with 4 blades from memory. So id say its on par with a gillette razor. 4. Post shave balm was good and felt quite refreshing similar sensation to when you have an airwave though I now need to moisturise as my skin feels quite tight. 5. Really really like the handle. All in all I might be being harsh as I set the bar quite high for this product. It is good VFM and delivery was prompt from placing my order. The products wern't up to the mark of my current origins ones which is a shame as they would work out a lot cheaper and less hassle. I was desperate for these blades to better those previously used but was not my experience...Does anyone have a recommendation for a really good razor? I don't mind what the cost just want it to be close and not abrasive! All in all i would recommend others to try as they may get on with it and i hope the company goes from strength to strength :-) I may re-try at a later date if changes are made..

Hi Nick- thanks for your review and sorry you didn't get on with our razors. We know what you mean about the scrub, we're actually working on a new, thicker formula which should be available in a couple of month's time. With regards to the shave gel, we developed this with British dermatologists but we do understand it's not to everyone's personal taste. For thick stubble we do tend to find that you need to make a couple of passes with the razor, but showering and using the face scrub beforehand does help to soften and lift the hair, making the shave a little easier and more effective. We're really happy you like the handle. We have thousands of happy members, so I guess there is an element of personal taste here, but sadly we'll never be able to please everyone unfortunately. That said, we are a small startup team and will continue to work super hard to keep improving our product range - we're aiming for complete satisfaction and always want to be on the side of the customer. Sorry it didn't work out- we're sorry to see you go.

I saw the ad and liked the concept and was pleased with the handle which I really liked and the personalised touch is great. The actual shave was ok but the shaving angle was a little awkward and didn't feel the blades were flexible enough. The overall shave was no way near as good as my Gillette pro glide and the absence of a trimmer blade is also a negative. The wash is quite messy in my white sink but not bad in general. Good concept but at this price I can't carry on. Give me this handle to fit my Gillette pro glide blades and that would be awesome.

Hi Dan, thanks for your comments, and sorry you didn't get on with our razors. We agree about the absence of the trimmer blade - this is something we're working on with our German partners. By the 'wash' we assume you mean the Pre-Shave Scrub - as mentioned in your welcome pack, we'd suggest you use this in the shower - that 's where it's most effective (because it's warmer, your skin's pores are open) so that helps avoid any mess. We have thousands of happy members, so I guess there is an element of personal taste here - plenty of people swear by our blades and throw their Gillette straight in the bin after their first Cornerstone shave, but sadly we'll never be able to please everyone unfortunately. That said, we are a small startup team and will continue to work super hard to keep improving our product range - we're aiming for complete satisfaction and always want to be on the side of the customer. Sorry it didn't work out - we're sad to see you go.

It appears I'm in the minority here but I'm not overly impressed by the product for a number of reasons - first of all the razor handle itself - it's made of aluminium so is pretty light and as a result it feels a bit cheap. The initials thing is a nice touch but would probably be more at home on a higher quality product. Secondly, the blades themselves. In days gone by we had 2 blades, then 3, then 4 and now 5. Those 5 blades have to fit into a pretty tight space and as a result the gap between each blade is rather small. I've tried a number of different 5 blade razors now and I just can't seem to shave without the blades feeling like they are dragging the hairs out rather then cutting them off - it's not a pleasant sensation. While there's no danger of cutting yourself with this razor, it did leave me with a bit of razor burn which is something I've not experienced before with any other blade. Onto the Facewash and it's not that bad, but a tad watery for my liking and would benefit from an added foaming agent to give a cleaner feel when you rinse it off. The shave gel itself is good and I've got no complaints about it, it smells good and provides just the right amount of lubrication for a close shave. As for the post shave balm, initially it's a nice, soothing product and smells great, but I found that it left my face looking a bit shiny and oily after a few hours. I normally moisturise with a Kiehls product, and while it's probably double or even triple the cost of this stuff, I never have the problem of a shiny face even 10-12 hours later. So all in all I'm going to have to give this 3 stars for which I apologise - it's a good concept but just falls short on delivery. Regrettably, I won't be continuing with my subscription.

Hi Mike, thanks so much for your review and sorry we weren't able to improve your shave. You may well be in the minority but that's completely OK - we are just very lucky to have a super engaged and vocal membership who are happy to sing our praises, we still like to hear from people who haven't quite got on as well. In response to your points, we purposely designed our handle to be lightweight - it's a shame you'd prefer it to be heavier, but we understand. Regards the blades, it sounds like you haven't got on with any 5 blade razor you've tried which is completely fair enough - they're not for everyone. That said, you shouldn't have got any razor burn from ours - the blades are sharp, there is a moisturising strip and the head is flexible, it could just be a case of getting used to the hinge v pivot head on our razor, showering before you shave and making sure you take short, gentle strokes with the direction of hair growth - as per the perfect shave guide in your welcome pack. On the Pre-Shave Scrub, we know where you're coming from on this - we're reworking the product to make it ever so slightly more viscous. That said, lots of our members do swear by it in its current form. Good news that you like the Shave Gel - we spent ages on the smell! As you'll have gathered, it's designed to protect your face rather than produce a huge fluffy cloud on your face! Sorry to hear that you had slightly oily skin after using the Post-Shave Balm - as you'll appreciate, everyone has different skin that reacts differently to new products so it sounds like your skin prefers the Kiehl's product (which is great by the way). When we speak to our members, this is actually their favourite of the three skincare products, so I guess you were unlucky in how your face's oil balance slightly over-reacted - this isn't usually the case from what we can tell. It's a shame to see you go, but we totally understand - it sounds like Cornerstone wasn't for you. As a small start-up team we are determined to be 100% on the customer's side and we're committed to working hard to make our products the best they can be - we'll keep plugging away with our dermatologists and engineers and will take all of your feedback on board. Thanks again for your comments.
