“the package arrived today 24/9/15 didn't fit through the letterbox as described but never the less i was happy to get it had my first shave in the evening and WOW! i must say i normally use Gillette but sorry Gillette i won't be coming back. the face scrub is a bit messy at first it takes some getting used too but once you use it it feels like you've rubbed your face with a bit of sandpaper you can really feel it!which is good, the shaving gel is good to use too doesnt lather up like a foam so you know exactly where you're shaving, the razor is a decent weight but woah! take care the blades, they are very very sharp and the after shave balm is superb this sounds silly but i actually feel like have a new face! i normally have a wet shave once a month but i will be shaving every day at this rate,love it! thank you Cornerstone!!!!!”

“I was given the Cornerstone gift set by my girlfriend and so far I can say that I'm delighted with the results. I have previously used a Braun shaver so Cornerstone was my first wet shave. The advice in the booklet was very helpful and shaving with the grain almost eliminated the discomfort experienced with my Braun. After a couple of goes, the shave got closer as I adapted to the switch. The handle and razor themselves look sleek and have perfect weight. The shave is close with not much need to redo areas again. However, I do feel a trimmer blade for those hard to reach areas could be something to add. The scrub, shaving gel and balm are all pretty good. The scrub, I feel, lacks the consistency of similar products and can be a little bit messy at times. However, the scent and results are top notch. The shaving gel is definitely a keeper and works really well the razors. All-in-all, a great gift, a great product and I'll definitely be subscribing.”

“Having read about the Cornerstone service, and always keen on improving my shaving experience, I thought I'd give it a try. First off, the package arrived promptly and well presented. I bought the face scrub, gel, and obviously razor and blades. The face scrub was - as has been mentioned in other reviews - very messy. It does a good job but it seems to scatter around the bathroom like nothing else I've used!! I don't think I'm a particularly messy washer, and can't quite work out why the scrub is so messy; possibly because it has quite a loose texture? However, things got distinctly better with the gel. A wonderful product, pleasant smelling, light and smooth to use (and only a small amount needed) and certainly provides for a smooth shave. Then there is the centrepiece of the whole thing - the razor and blades. I love them both. The razor is indeed lightweight (I actually like this facet) and stands sturdily on its base when not in use, but as a tool for shaving it is remarkably good. I am also delighted with the blades, which I think have been the easiest and most effective - and even enjoyable - ones I've ever used (and I have been a bit eclectic in my use of various blades down the years). I don't think I will continue with the scrub, but might try the shave balm. I didn't get it to begin with because I tend to use a moisturiser rather than a simple balm, but perhaps Cornerstone have managed to make this a 2-in-1? Anyway, despite the slight issue with the scrub, this has been a positive purchase, and I'll carry on. Thanks Cornerstone.”

“Having used the various incarnations of the Fusion razor and Crabtree and Evelyn Sandalwood Shaving Soap for the past God knows how many years, I was excited by the idea of having all my shaving requisites delivered to my door. I received the box of goodies and looked forward to my first shave. Having used it now for a while, I have the following observations. I should say before I start that I'm guessing all of us are different. What works for some may not necessarily work for others The Facial Scrub goes everywhere! Far too messy and a bit of a phaff to use. The Shaving Gel I felt didn't soften the bristles as well as my shaving soap, or indeed and shaving gel I used a year or so ago (can't remember the name of it). The razor was perhaps the biggest disappointment. In 30 plus years of shaving I have had razor burn a hand full of times, more often than not from using a cheap disposable razor. I broke out in razor burn everytime I used the Cornerstone razor. It is not as flexible as it could be and is very "draggy". I thought perhaps changing blades more frequently might help, but got the same result each time. The Post Shave thingy was a bit of a let down also. Looking at the ingredients, some of the them have been linked to skin problems, (don't have the packaging handy so have forgotten the names), which would be a bit of a worry. So, thumbs down for the Cornerstone for me. I'll go back to my trusty Fusion, my shaving brush and my shaving soap.”

“Cornerstone has an appealing and innovative way of marketing its products, which initially attracted me, and made me switch away from other leading brands for the first time since I started shaving 15 years ago!! The addition of skincare products encourages a good regime too! As for the products and quality of shave, very good in my opinion: little or no rash/burn and offers a genuinely great alternative to the usual blockbuster brands. Definitely going to stick with it!!”

“I love the service and the website, a brilliant idea like many others have said. Unfortunately I just cannot get along with the product. Having used it for around 2 weeks now, I will carry on as I'm starting to wonder if it just takes time to get used to the different razor and shaving gel but thus far I have found it quite irritating and sore on my skin and for the first time ever encountered slight shaving rash. Also the shaving gel has a 'distinctive' smell.”

“Unfortunately, Cornerstone was an utter disappointment for me. Having used my trusty fusion gilette power glide shavers for a while, I thought I might try something new and I liked the prospect of having everything delivered straight to my door rather than having to go buy myself. However, the shaving experience was the worst I have ever had: 1) First, the blades are rubbish - I have never had such a painful shave before and the result was very unsatisfactory - I could achieve a much more closer shave with my fusion than cornerstone. It has left me with various patches where the blade could not give a closer and smoother shave. This is particularly true for the sharp contours on my face, such as the place where the face meets the jawline - the blade head is very inflexible and could not properly shave those areas at all, it was only painful. 2) The face scrub is a disaster as well - like some reviewers have stated below, it is a very messy product that just goes everywhere! Very impractical, and far too strong - it has left me with very dried out skin afterwards, made worse by the blades!! 3) The aftershave balm wasnt much to write home about either. Its ok, a bit too oily, and having looked at the ingredients it contains isoparaffin fairly high on the list - an absolute nono for any proper skin product as it is a comedogenic (i.e. spot/breakout inducing) compound. Overall, this was a big disappointment. Right after the very first shave, the box went straight to the bin, and my subscription cancelled. It has left me with the most painful postshave razor burn and extremely dried out skin I have ever had. Having said all this, it could be because I have fairly sensitive skin - if you have sensitive skin cornerstone products are far too strong and drying so avoid!”

“Recently tried this as a product, I like the idea of the boxes arriving on my doorstep on a defined date so I shouldn't run out. I feel already that there is not enough shaving gel so likely to need more in each pack. I previously used a much heavier razor which I preferred as this one feels too light. I also began using a power razor, I hope Cornerstone consider that as an option. In the meantime a heavier one would be better. Great sales technique and a truly good product, despite me trying to be critical here I will recommend this to friends.”

“Received my first pack today. I only ordered blades this time as a comparison against the fusion blades that I currently use. The box fitted through my letterbox easily so no trips to the sorting office! The razor handle is very light and I like mine heavier. Just my preference. It looks well made however and presents itself as a quality product. I had 4 days growth so I was quite stubbly. The shave was close and left very little irritation so im very happy. The true test will be the longevity of the blades because at £14 for 6 blades, there isn't any real competition against the best sellers unless they last longer. Time will tell. Good so far!”

“As many have already said fantastic product just beating Gillette pro glide fusion for comfort but leaving it behind with regards to post shave smoothness, I'm looking forward to the possible addition of the precision single blade as that will be the only thing I'll miss from my old razor. “Excellent experience from start (the website) to ordering to the product design and the actual shaving experience. Nothing else can be said. I have only tried the razor and the shaving gel. The razor offers a smooth and clean shave while the gel smells delicious! My current Nivea post shaving balm is running out so I'm looking forward to try out the Cornerstone product. Won't be using the scrub for a while as I currently have 3 bottles of L'Oreal to get through! Great work Cornerstone team!”

“I didn't get on with Cornerstone at all. A colleague and I both signed up at the same time having seen strong reviews, and he continues to be impressed with the products. For me, the scrub was good, the gel was fine, as was the balm, but the razors felt cheap and caused me quite a lot of irritation despite shaving as carefully as I could. In order to get all the hairs these blades required far more pressure. Why do companies feel the need to have so many blades on a razor??? I shave far better with a Gillette or Bic 3 blade razor than I do with these. (and I did try shaving at least 4 times with this kit before leaving a review). Sorry, but I'll be sticking with Men-U and some cheaper 2 blade razors.”

I guess it all comes down to personal preference when it comes to the number of blades on the razor, but it is something that we will look into so we can let you know if we ever do launch a new razor with fewer blades :-)

“I have tried a variety of shaving methods including for a whilst using a cut-throat. Cornerstone offers the best all round service with no need to remember to purchase blades or spend ages sharpening a blade. The other parts that come with it are also of a high quality making the bundle good value as well. As i do not shave daily i often found myself going through more than a blade each time i shave but with cornerstone the blades stay sharp and this is no longer a problem. On top of all this the customer service has proved to be exemplary. I moved and forgot to notify them of this, when the royal mail returned my package they contacted me and arranged for re-delivery to my new address in a polite simple email. I highly recommend moving your shaving supplies to cornerstone for a high quality product with good customer service backing this up.”

“I've been a Gillette user since I began shaving 21 years ago. I've tried other blades and electric shavers but always found myself going back to Gillette's. No longer. Cornerstone solves a couple of problems for me. 1. Expensive blades that I don't know when to change and forget to buy. 2. A close shave that lasts a long time as I have sensitive skin, so less shaving is better How does Cornerstone solves these problems? The blades are posted every 2 weeks, 6 blades so that's 2 weeks for each blade. I know I'm not going to run out - as the next blades are going to arrive through my door. If I have a good hot bath at night, soak my stubble and then shave straight after. I can get away with not shaving for the next 3 days. The service is great, good packaging and great handle, blades and gel. I'm used to using foam, so the gel was very different. However, all they're sales pitch is correct. My skin get dried out less, because it doesn't foam you can see the hairs you're trying to shave. I go with the grain, to get as much off as I can. Then a quick glide against the grain all over finishes it off like polish. I have never got this close, this painlessly with any other shaving system. It's been 6 weeks I've been using the product and I'm a very happy customer. Looking forward to my new parcel soon.”

“After seeing the cornerstone add on Facebook and myself not being a lover of shaving I decided to have a read. I was impressed with the marketing and the information given. I liked the idea and thought let's give it ago as it's away from the mainstream brands you get in the shops. Due to my dislike for shaving, but actually wanting to shave (trimmed my stubble for 2years using electric shaver) I put my order in the that easy to do. After around 4-5 days the shaving equipment came with a nice informative book that's help me to have a brilliant shave for the first time in a couple of years. I shave once a week (as the wife likes a bit of stubble) and now look forward to shave day Sunday. This is an excellent product. I will be investing again at Father's Day for my old man. 5/5.”

“So I wanted to wait a while before jumping the gun and writing a review too soon. I wanted to experience the products over a period of time before coming to a decision. So here it is..... My first shave if I am honest was a let down, like others I was sold by the reviews and the concept of everything that cornerstone has to offer! But I had never used anything like there products before and I found I had to tailor the way I shaved to suit the cornerstone way I guess! But after a few shaves and learning the strength of the blades and how to use them to suit me I was pleasantly surprised. I do think you need to show the blades a bit of respect, I used to shave against the grain and if I do that with the cornerstone blades they will leave me for dead! But for me I can't see myself changing. The blades and handle have won me over! The products again have left me pleasantly surprised! I had used a gel before but never got on with it, I preferred foam as it was just my personal preference, but I've stuck it at and I do think it adds to the overall shave! I shave five times a week and still have some left after 6 weeks, I again was a bit unsure if it would last but it has! The aftershave balm for me is a winner, I've really only used Nivea before but this really makes the shave, any rare irritation I do get from the blades (5th day in a row of shaving) the balm sorts out and makes my skin feel great again! I have never used a pre shave scrub and maybe it's the missing piece for me to turn this review to 5 stars but I am not sure? Is there a free tester I could be sent to give it a go before adding it to my subscription??? All in all from a company perspective I think they are doing everything right, the ease of everything and the flexibility is great and I don't see anyone else offering that! They have the time to speak to there customers and they seem to want to listen! I won't be stopping my subscription and I am really glad that something like this exists. I think shaving is down to preference and it seems to work for me, I just want to see if the pre shave scrub is for me too?”

“I was hoping for big things with Cornerstone and found the gel, balm and scrub to be OK (although the scrub is ridiculously messy) but the blades themselves did disappoint slightly requiring more pressure to get a similar shave to my usual Gillette blades. I also REALLY missed having a single blade on the back of the cartridge to get those difficult to reach areas.”

Hi Andy, sorry to hear that your Cornerstone shave could have been better. We agree with you about the scrub and trimmer blade- we're actually already working on a new, thicker formula for the face scrub and also working with our German partners to bring out a new razor with a trimmer blade on the back. If you like, we can let you know when they're both available and perhaps you can give the new products a go? We generally have pretty good feedback from our customers but I do appreciate it's also down to personal taste, however we are continuously working on making improvements to all our products and services so if you'd be open to trying out the new products when they become available that would mean a lot to us!

“Not what I expected at all the whole thing feels cheaply made blades that rust after a couple of days not a very good result from the shave I had high expectations from the pictures but sadly the product did not live up at all. Get a lot better results from my gilette razors.”

So sorry to hear that Ben. We don't normally get any issues with the blades rusting so I'm really disappointed to hear you've not been impressed with our razor. Our razor handle is made of aviation grade aluminium so it's super strong but lightweight so that shaving doesn't become tiresome (literally). “Into my second 3 month period with cornerstone and although not cheap; when you factor everything in it is comparable to leading brands. If price is your main issue then get a bic. And as a tight northerner it takes something special for me to part with my cash. Was initially dubious as to whether the gel would last the 12 weeks but to be fair it has. It is now genuinely something I won't be cancelling and as soon as I've used up my Maca Root face stuff from body shop will be trialling the scrub et al as a full set. Great work by the way with that little magazine, totally don't want that tag watch. ;)”
