The premium comes out low but when you go to the insurer’s site the price plummets up. The initial search needs to be more accurate.

Experience marred because I struggled to get the promised reward. The app that had to be downloaded was very erratic, with the sign-up page repeatedly showing as no longer there. When I finally did manage to get through the process, it was the morning after the offer expired...

Confused need to up their game !! What's the point in entering ALL your details for Home Buildings & Contents Insurance, to then find out the quotes you receive do NOT match your requirements!! Insurance for Audio Euipment, Bicycles, and high price items over £1000 varies massively from insurer to insurer. Check the small print on the Insurance providers website people. Not all of your requirements are being carried across. You may not be insured. Confused.com need to correct this.

I completed all the details on the confused.com website and received quotations from £100. But would not let me complete online I had to speak direct with the insurance company. This then turned into £600 odd pounds and then would not insure. The reason being it was an unoccupied house with building work to be carried out. Even though I had entered all this information on the confused.com website. I had to go elsewhere to obtain a reasonable quotation.

Endless requests to proove I'm human - even when I'd signed in, and even when I was right in the middles of inputting my insurance deatils - with countless clicks on buses, planes and boats - really ruined my experience. Several times I had to start afresh, which was just infuriating as I'd inputted a lot of information - twice. Then, once I'd already made my purchase, emails from confused.com arrived asking me to complete my purchese! This happened last month with car insurance as well. Surely confused.com's system should know this already? The £20 reward voucher arrived after I'd purchased for the car, but not this time for the home.

The problem is that my house is grade 2 listed, and simply insuring it as such through any comparison site, is not the whole story - and it's completely possible to either be underinsured, or not even insured at all, via online comparison site quotes, despite having answered all the questions and having even paid for the insurance. Having had this problem for the last 5 years of insuring my grade 2 listed barn through various insurers - this time I rang the Halifax (whom I chose through Confused) to ask much deeper questions - and it turned out I wouldn't have been insured at all if I hadn't done this - and I also had to pay an extra £83 on top of the Confused quote to be properly insured. So this is why I gave 4 out of 10 - perhaps it should have been even lower. But I also accept that, if ones house is newish/normal and uncomplicated - then comparison websites can work - and I did get the best price, on this occasion, through Confused for the same insurer, compared to its main competitors - I just don't know if it was still the best price having clarified thing directly with Halifax and had a large premium increase as a result?
