“whilst the chocolate itself was lovely with a good texture and dark chocolate flavour the extra flavours didn't match up. there was insufficient ginger and the chilli though pleasant needed to be stronger.”

“I bought 2 plates of 100% Madagaskar chocolate as well as a mixed easter shapes tube. Very good chocolate except there was definitely something wrong with the second plate of the Madagaskar chocolate. The first one was just as I expected, smooth and bitter but with a hint of fruity sweetness but the second one was much more bitter, grainy and had no fruityness at all which made me very sad because I love Madagaskar chocolate. I was so happy to find a place where they sell it as 100% but I don't know if I'll order again because I feel worried that I might get disappointed again.”

Thank you for your review, and we're sorry to hear that one of your bars of 100% Madagascar wasn't up to scratch. It's very strange for one bar to be perfect and the other to not only have a different texture but to taste different. If you'd let us know at the time we could have had a look into it and put it right. We don't like any of our customers to be disappointed.

“Surprisingly high proportion of soft centre chocolates was disappointing. Would have preferred more truffles / nuts based chocolates than soft fondant like fillings. Otherwise good quality.”

Thank you for your feedback. We use fresh cream and Raisetrade single-origin chocolate along with locally sourced ingredients to make our different ganaches, and many of our delicious hand-crafted beauties are award winners, but we don't have any fondant centres.

Oh no, we're sorry if there was an issue with the personalisation on your bar, but if you'd let us know we would have been able to rectify it. We can't put things right if we don't know about it. 250g is pretty giant though, especially when it's handcrafted with 45% Venezuela origin milk chocolate; it certainly won't fit in your pocket!

“We have loved the individual chocolates from Chococo - from Chococake in Wimborne and are disappointed that we cannot buy them from there anymore. We ordered some online chocolate which arrived well packaged and tasted fine. I was disappointed that the chocolate flakes I ordered for hot chocolate contained additional ingredients particularly sugar and didn't taste as good as expected based on the amazing chocolates.”

Thank you for your feedback, and we're so pleased that you love our chocolate. The hot chocolate flakes you bought were milk chocolate, which by its very nature contains milk solids and sugar for sweetness, as is the case for all milk chocolate. At 45% (min) cocoa solids, our milk chocolate has a very high cocoa content compared with most, and with 18% milk solids, the sugar content is therefore very low compared with most others, at only 37%.

“Very well designed, loved the look of the egg and dinosaurs inside were really cool. However for the money I didnt think the chocolate was exceptional. Very nice, but I wouldn’t pay that price for one again.”

Thanks, we're pleased you like the creativity and design of our egg and that you enjoyed the chocolate. Don't forget that the price of the chocolate isn't just reflected in the flavour, but in the ethical sourcing, planet-friendly packaging, hand-crafting, hand-decorating, and hand-packing - no plastic, no palm oil and no robots!

“Unfortunately the Easter egg was smashed to bits, presumably in the delivery process. This is unusual. I have had a number of deliveries previously which have been fine.”

As we advised when we dealt with you directly about your broken egg, we have used our plastic-free packaging format now for a couple of years with only a tiny number of issues which are more to do with how the eggs are handled in transit rather than the fault of the packaging, so we're sorry for any disappointment. Thanks for letting us know privately how much of a Chococo fan your hubster is and how much he enjoyed his chocolate despite its less-than-perfect appearance.

“Arrived well packed. I brought 2 eggs on Easter Sunday upon opening the box to get to the egg it was wrapped in tissue paper upon opening the paper the eggs were cracked so when you picked them up the broke into many pieces. Does this matter when they are going to be broken up to eat well yes when there a present. The outer box was not damaged nor the box the eggs were in so they must have been cracked before packing.”

Sorry that your eggs arrived broken; this isn't how we want our lovely chocolate to arrive. We don't want any of our customers to be unhappy, and we'd never knowingly send out damaged items. We've used our plastic-free packaging for a couple of years with only a tiny number of issues, which are more to do with how the eggs are handled in transit rather than the fault of the packaging. We do hope that the chocolate was still a pleasure to eat despite its less-than-perfect appearance.

“Hi, the actual chocolate with the honeycomb is very nice however when my wife opened it the egg was completely smashed which was very disappointing. The box showed no sign of any damage or impact.”

However, we do wish you'd contacted us to let us know that your beautiful eggs had arrived smashed as we could have put things right for you, especially as your delivery arrived more than two weeks before Easter. Sadly reporting damages to a review site doesn't resolve anything, and neither you nor we are happy.

“Not much depth to the actual chocolate in this selection. Fat content seems to be what is missing and intensity of flavour. Felt I was eating a low fat or healthy alternative. Variety of filling was interesting but flavours while subtle drowned out a moderately weak chocolate. Wouldn’t buy again I am afraid.”

Thanks for your review and sorry our chocolate is not to your taste. We only use chocolate made with natural cocoa butter, not additional vegetable fat and definitely no palm oil. Our chocolate also has a much lower sugar content than most high street big names, which lets the true chocolate flavour through. Thanks for trying Chococo, and sorry that you won't be back.

Thank you, we're thrilled that you love our chocolate, but we should clarify that the price you paid included delivery. Your Large Honeycombe Heart in Dark Chocolate was £12.50 and we are sorry you think this was expensive. We disagree, especially when you take into account where our chocolate comes from and what we do with it. We use direct-traded single-origin, Raisetrade chocolate produced in its country of origin (better than Fairtrade), which is fully traceable, trusted, sustainable, ethical and delicious! Oh, and no palm oil. We make the specical version of our honeycombe here at Chococo with agave nectar so it is also vegan-friendly. Once the honeycombe cools, we break it into chunks and mix it into our house 72% Ecuador single origin dark chocolate. If that's not enough, it's hand-wrapped in compostable cornstarch cello and hand-tied with a ribbon, then packed and posted in a fully recyclable box.

Thank you, we're really pleased to hear that you loved our chocolates and we do hope that you'll be back for more. It's such a shame that your little one wasn't a fan of the brownies, but maybe they were a little bit too salty and rich for him. Our brownies are very rich and truffle-like - a few bites at a time is just enough for some folk, but others .... welllllll (*hides in the corner with chocolate around their mouths and all over their fingers....)

We're really sorry you were disappointed. The packaging used for our slabs is plastic free and recyclable and clearly shown as such on our website photos. We don't think you can bring much lustre to a brown paper bag with a cornstarch window, but we can promise they were all hand-packed. Taste is a different thing entirely although is very subjective, and we do have to say each to their own. But we would also say that people who don't love Chococo chocolate are usually fans of cheap, mass-produced, low cocoa & high sugar chocolate. Sometimes, things just take a little getting used to.

We don't think that you can consider our chocolate overpriced when you take into account where our chocolate comes from, what we do with it, and how we get it to you. We use single-origin, Cocoa Horizons verified, 100% sustainable cocoa beans from Venezuela, made into chocolate for us to our own recipe, with very high cocoa solids at 45%. Oh, and no palm oil. Each Easter egg is made entirely by hand. We start by building up layers of milk chocolate in the mould, letting each layer set before adding the next and then we stud the inside of each half with big chunks of crunchy, sweet honeycombe, which we also make by hand with local honey. The two halves are carefully hand-sealed, then each egg is individually hand-decorated. No egg-making machines here at Chococo! If that's not enough love given to your egg, it's hand-wrapped in recyclable food-safe tissue inside its NEW 100% plastic-free recyclable kraft box. Of course, if you'd rather have cheap chocolate that exploits local workforces and ruins rainforests, padded out with sugar and added fats, made by machines and packed into plastic by robots, who are we to comment?

“The chocolate ginger box was this time disappointing and I really sadly couldn’t have told you that there was any element of ginger in them at all if I had to do a blind testing , this was particularly sad for me as I do adore dark chocolate with ginger”

Thank you for taking the time to send your review, and we're sorry to hear that you didn't find the ginger coming through very strongly in this box. We put big chunks of pure crystallised ginger into our delicate chocolate domes to make our Glorious Ginger chocolates to ensure the perfect ginger:chocolate ratio, so it's unusual for the warmth of the ginger not to be prominent.
