“The iPad app UI is excellent and the book and paper quality (fold flat) is better than you average iPhoto or Google Photos offering. HOWEVER, I was hoping for brighter and more colourful images in the printing bearing in mind I had selected the the best quality ‘photo paper’ option. The originals were considerably more vivid on my iPad screen. I appreciate that the printing process is likely to be heavily automated but was hoping for a degree of exposure and colour checking with the original file by a human operator. I’m beginning to think that this is just not possible regardless of which photo book company is used. Unless I can find a solution, in future I’m likely to revert to ordering individual prints on photographic paper, properly checked by hand, and build my own photo ‘book’ the old fashion way. It’s a shame since the finished article won’t look nearly so professional, but at the moment I see no other option.”

Dear Ricahrd, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I’m sorry that you were disappointed with the way your photos were printed. Unfortunately viewing images on any mobile device will make them appear slightly lighter than what is printed. That is due to the backlighting from the screen you are seeing them on. In regards to checking the files, while we do random checks in our lab to monitor the quality of our products, we have thousands of book orders come through and unfortunately we are unable to check each one of them. I would suggest that for further orders, you use our downloadable software that has an optimisation tool. This tool can amend the quality of your photos and lighten them if they are too dark. “I always use Bob Books for the quality of their editor, lie-flat books and printing. Slight reduction from 5* this time as blues have printed very strongly. This only applies to blocks of blue and their is no overall colour cast. It is a drop in their normally excellent colour balance.”

“The silver/gold highlighting was poorly executed on the back cover. I will avoid this option in future. Otherwise the books are of good quality and I've made over 30 of them.”

Dear Louise, I’m very sorry to hear that you still have not received your book. I have checked with our customer care team and they have confirmed that you book was dispatched on the 12th of August. Unfortunately, as the product is being delivered outside of Europe, our turnaround times are longer. Additionally, it may be possible that the book is stuck at customs, regrettably, there is no way for us to confirm that as that is out of our control. Regarding any future problems, please do get in touch with us so we can try and sort them out for you faster, as we were unaware of this problem we were unable to advise accordingly. “I have printed many books with Bob Books and every one of them have been printed beautifully. I typically use the matt paper with lay flat binding and the quality of the product is excellent. Their books have a real 'art book' feel to them which I love. Their customer service is amazing, they are always there to answer any of my questions!”

“The quality of the books we buy are superb and would score 5* on their own. The price is horrendous (over £200 for the last book) and would score 1* as a category on its own. We’ve always bought the top of the range, lay flat books and you expect them to cost more, but they’ve almost doubled in price over the last 4 years. Photo albums have always been important to us so we pay the money, but I doubt many of my friends would be willing to spend as much. Obviously, this is a review of the product we purchase, other more cost effective products are available but I can’t provide a review of them.”

Dear George, I’m very sorry that you find our products expensive. Unlike our competitors, we have not increased our product’s prices in six years, although yes, our products are quite pricey. We did look at our records and the latest book that you ordered had about 3x the amount of pages than your previous order and our extra pages are an additional cost to your book. In addition, you book was ordered with our gloss photographic paper, which is our priciest premium paper. “I ordered a hard back book of photographs taken during travelling and am absolutely delighted with the finished product! I did have one problem with uploading my photos but the on line help sorted it within minutes. The web page has so many options for placing photos and text but also makes suggestions as to what would work. I'm so impressed I've already recommended them to several friends and will definitely return for my next photo printing project. An excellent service and website!”
