Up till my last two orders out of 32+ orders I would have gladly given a 10 but the problems I have had with the last 2 orders is the finished book is nothing like the computer copy downloaded to you for print. The pictures came out dark some you couldn't see at all. Even professional photos were the same. The last order was reprinted and I am awaiting the fait of my last order. Based on the order I had reprinted had you asked for a number for helpfulness I would say 8/9. I still do not what to do regarding sending further orders as the cost of sending these books back mount up.

I find quite a few issues with the Bobs Book programme: 1 Having templates already on the pages a nuisance as I have to delete each page first 2 The layouts tab defaults to 2 images overlapping - again a pain as I have to go to 'all' every-time to get a selection 3 The programme regularly crashes (on a Mac and PC - both updated equipment)

Hello Gillian, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. In regards to your queries you can apply blank layouts to all your pages. You just select 0 photos per page – or if you have a preferred layout you would like to apply to all you pages. Then select the "Add layout to all interior pages" button. We have a help video to help with creating and apply custom layouts to your book: http://www.bobbooks.co.uk/ask-bob/help/how-do-i-create-layouts-using-bob-designer The page layouts is set to 2 images overlapping, this is something that we are looking into changing. In regards to your software crashing, this should not be happening and our customer care team should be able to assist you with this problem. I have sent a request that they contact you about this and hopefully this can resolved as soon as possible. Process marred by problems with Bob Designer and very mediocre (not what I'd call photographic) print quality on Classic pages. Not helped by surley customer services and refusal (or inability) to discuss the tech aspects of their printing versus photographic processes. Eventually resolved by paying for upgrade to Photographic paper - the difference is night and day even though nothing on the website alludes to this. Overall result on photographic pages was excellent, though hard back cover was still a mediocre print process, but finally a satisfactory photo book... It seems to me that this company, and perhaps the industry as a whole, is turning down print quality below what their equipment can do in order to maximise throughout and profit, giving printed results not worthy of being called a photo book... It seems that only choosing the dearer pages triggers them to actually use processes and settings that give photographic quality in a book.

Hello Brendan, Thank you so much for taking the time to send us your feedback. I am so sorry you were not happy with your Classic paper book. I can see from your correspondence with our Customer Service team that there was an issue with low resolution images, and you also advised that some of your images were 25MB. This is quite large and our system would compress this down. This may have been why your original images appeared grainy. Our Classic, Gloss-coated and Matte paper are digitally printed, where as our photographic papers are exposed. This information as well as information about our printers is available on our site. I am so sorry if this was not given to you or pointed out to you. I am happy to hear that you are pleased with your re-print and once again apologise for any frustration caused. This was my first experience with Bob Books. I was very disappointed with the book, but maybe some of my images were too contrasty. I have however had books from other suppliers in the past with far superior results. When I compiled the book it looked really good before I sent it "down the tube" , but the actual book was not truly much like it. I am not saying that I will not use Bob again, but, if I do I will make sure my images lack biting contrast. I do not require a 20% voucher. Thank you.

Hello Rod, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback, I am so sorry that you are not happy with the image quality of your photobook. It sounds like you may had the Automatic Image Correction turned on and this has affected the colour contrast of your images. Could you please take a look in the software and see if this is the case. If so we may be able to re-print your book for you and that will correct the problem. If not we will be happy to investigate this further. If you could provide some images of your book and the original image so we can compare that would help us get an idea of the problem. Sorry for any disappointment caused. If the books arrive in tact they are very nice, however had issues with 3 out of 4 copies. Received a refund for 1 which had two pages stuck together on arrival. The other two books that had issues: one had a cover with a bent corner and one had a few pages that were bent in the top corner. These could have been avoided with proper postage packaging. Had no problem with getting a refund for the first after providing a photo of the damage and decided to live with the small issues in the other two problematic books given I couldn't wait another 2 weeks for replacement copies. Delivery could be faster. I will continue to use the service given that when the books are created and packaged properly they do turn out nicely.

Nice product. Just lacking the human touch sometimes. Fully automated systems are no substitute for someone keeping an eye out for potential print issues and flagging up any points before printing. I never feel confident enough to have books sent out directly to clients as I need to check each book first just incase. Printing and build fantastic though, still my house album book of choice. Keeps improving too, which is great to see. Thanks!

The Books are very good, high quality, but the soft wear hates my iMac , having lots of problems, keep closing down, have found customer service not very helpful in this matter, sad really otherwise could be a great product.

Ordered 2 books - 1 paperback and 1 hardback photo paper - paperback excellent & delivered on time, pleased with the service. Sadly no sign of the more expensive high quality hardback book, no confirmation of delivery etc, so after 10 days contacted online help, who told me there had been a problem with the production of my order & arranged a new urgent re-order (which was likely to take another ten days!). I'm waiting to see if this one appears as promised. Email communication with the customer (me) about a problem with my second order was non existant hence my poor review. However, the response of the online help was excellent with prompt action and the quality etc of the first book is great plus I really like the software for creating books - so maybe mine was a one-off problem.

I have looked into this with our Customer Care team and have been advised that your original order was placed on the 26th of March, a reprint was sent on the 9th of April. An automatic email will have been sent to notify you of the reprint – this may have gone into your spam folder but I am sorry if you did not receive this. From my understanding the book was lost by our courier and not a production issue – if not you would have been notified of this. I am so sorry that this has caused a delay in you receiving your book. You are able to track your book online – but not through the delivery agent. My pictures had been taken with a very good (professional standard ) camera but some of them were grainy in the book. I did contact Bob books about this who came back immediately and asked me to return the book. I didn't do this as it would have entailed me correctly packaging the book etc etc and having to make a trip to our busy local post office. Book now sitting slightly unloved on our coffee table.... I probably wouldn't take the risk of having another book done as they are relatively expensive.

Hello Katrina, I am writing from the Bob Books Head Office. I am so sorry you are not satisfied with the quality of your images. We ask for the book to be returned to us when there is a question of print quality so we can compare it to our files and determine whether the change needs to be made on our end or yours to ensure you do not receive the book back in the same condition. When it comes down to picture quality of individual images without comparing the actual book to the files we have on our system there is no way of knowing what the problem is. It seems odd that some of the images printed correctly and some didn't, the problem is likely to be with the file or file sizes of your images. We are happy to work with you to rectify this problem. Overall service was excellent, however some images seemed to have too much contrast and dark / black elements.

I used the photographic paper for the first time and was very pleased with the results, much better. As before though, I found that some of the images were very much darker than the originals had been. Also, compared with previous Bob Books, the binding was not very strong looking - definitely not as good quality as my books made in 2010.

The Indesign template was easy to use and upload, books arrived quickly and efficiently. Good finish but was disappointed to find a large barcode on the back cover. Not even centered! Really spoiled the effect. I would have paid more not to have the barcode and was very disappointed as the books were for gifts. If this could be changed going forward I would use them again.

Hi Sarah, Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately barcodes are a required feature on our products as they allow us to track and ensure the correct product is delivered to the correct customer. Their placement is clearly shown on the InDesign template, however if the placement of the barcode was incorrect in this instance, please send us an image of this and we will be happy to review your product. Good quality books for a good price. Slightly difficult to use professionally as there is no ability to create a preview file to share with clients.
