“Have used Approved Foods a couple of times. Unfortunately this time only half my delivery arrived because the second box was damaged in delivery. Customer service was good on contact about the missing items but they were not proactive in making me aware, could not identify what was missing and cannot replace a number of items. I have also been waiting a little while for the second box replacement, which I thought ought to have been fast-tracked. Most items are fine from the first box, though some are damaged to an extent which is a shame”

“I use to buy from them a lot, 2/3 boxes of food every month, very convenient and good customer service but now they started to increase the price of all the stuff and also it is very hard to have the free delivery (£50 it's a bit to much for a family in budget) so now I buy only when there is really necessity.”

“Well set out website the only part that let you down was the delivery person who was very rude to my neighbors and dropped delivery and threw it back in the van when my neighbor challenged him after being woke up by his swearing he denied it all.”

“Lots of variety and some exotic products that I don't see in the shops. Great 'mega'deals and the occasional 'lucky box' makes the buying experience both money-saving and a bit of an adventure in taste !!”

“It was lovely to receive certain products that we miss here living in France, unfortunately the packages inside of the large box had not been correctly packed so crisps were squashed, tins of baked beans dented 6 out of the 8 bought & even though I wrote to you on the delivery day still have not had any response I took photos straight away though there was no place to put them on the form that I filled in”

“Always used to provide good VFM with 'surprise boxes' but £2.99 for a tin (which I did not want) and half a dozen packets of sweets is not my idea of a bargain.”

“I can tell you how I was unhappy!! I ordered some biscuits for cheese which, when they arrived, had been packed under several tins. Anyone for crumbs to eat with cheese? They went to the birds! I had no idea when my parcel would arrive only that it had "shipped" despite having twice emailed this company for a clue! I have yet to receive a reply - too late now that the parcel has arrived.”

“A couple of good bargains but a drawn out process to peruse everything, lots of everyday prices, delivery takes days and the free delivery is only if you don't go overweight. All confusing and disappointing. Excessive packaging for delivery not environmentally friendly. Lots of products of no interest. Will try them again but likely to loose interest I think pretty quickly”

“Pricing seems to be getting difficult - many items now carry very small discounts, it's just luck that the time to place an order coincides with finding good bargains. I'm now finding it difficult to complete an order that is worth the cost of postage. I wish Approved Food could start regularly under-cutting the cost of, say, roasted coffee beans for example - something I'd use daily and buy by the kilo. Currently at £25+ charged online can't you find a supplier that will allow you to offer a substantially better price? Wishful hoping I know...”

We specialise in surplus and short-dated stock, food that is either near or just passed its 'best before' date, but still perfectly safe to consume – allowing us to pass on huge savings to our customers. “Great concept, need to pick and choose as quite abit is cheaper in discount stores/supermarkets - and in date. Had an issue with breakages and customer services promptly added refund to account”

“not sure about happy !! I item of powdered soup packed upside down which caused the lid to come of when unpacking causing a large amount of sticky yellow powder all over my carpet , disappointingly only offered a refund and £5 as compensation , packing usually very good though generally a interesting company to buy from but watch the sizing of items some are a lot smaller than you think, and try for the free postage”
