Stanhope is a leading provider of niche and specialist insurance to the UK home insurance market. We focus on providing solutions that fit outside the standard UK home insurance norms. This could be an expensive item of jewellery, a property that is thatched or a home that is undergoing renovation works.

If you can’t find the solution through standard insurance platforms, then you will most likely have come to us as your next port of call.

Stanhope provides customers with highly personalised insurance products that their specific and specialist circumstances require. We will insure valuable items of jewellery whilst you are living away from home because your house, which has subsidence (which we are also insuring), is undergoing renovation works!

We are dedicated to providing exceptional levels of customer service and want all our customers to know that they have the right insurance policy in place at the right price, for their specific set of circumstances.

“I took out a house insurance policy with Stanhope Insurance Brokers, and they placed the policy with Pen. A couple of months into the policy, I found that it was no longer required and therefore cancelled the policy. I was told I would receive a refund of £2355 as I had paid the full annual premium. It has taken Stanhope and Pen Insurance just under two months to refund the money. They are quick to take your money, but clearly hold on to any monies owed to customers for as long as possible. I have never known any kind of refund take nearly two months, especially this amount! This abnormal refund policy should be made very clear at outset, as it is not a normal refund practice.”

Hi Jo, Thanks for letting us know about the delayed refund. You are right, some of our refund practices are antiquated. This is part of an ongoing review as we need to improve this process considerably, making refunds hit client accounts much quicker. Truly, we are sorry it took this long and your review is justified. “I was looking to get my cover right with reinstatement value of building . I usually rely on word of mouth and personal recommendations from friend , preferring this method than just choking from the internet . I had to choose from the internet as renewal was getting f nearer and I was not entirely happy with with my brokers who were good but somehow did not make the breakthrough that Stanhope made for me . I was really well served by Ryan Ottaway who first picked up my phone call . I would be looking to switch most of my insurances to this company as long as they offer me better cover for the outlay in premiums. They also offer home visits which is great for very busy working professionals .”
