Just the right amount of contact, confirmed booking etc, emails closer to the time with further details. Not bombarded with endless emails as some other companies do.

Booked via AirBnB so difficult to rate correctly. One email about door code not responded to but no issues.

Beautiful cottage and stunning area of the Lake District. No Internet connection outside the cottage - need to be aware when going walking alone. TV reception OK but does cut out sometimes.

We didn’t get any correspondence about our booking or how to access the property until we called the day before arrival. This is apparently an issue sometimes with bookings made via booking.com. Once we were in touch though, the staff at Herdwick Cottages immediately sent us the info we needed and were friendly and helpful

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you didn't receive your pre-arrival email on time. As was explained, when you book through an OTA such as Booking.com, they don't provide us with your direct email address; instead, they provide us with a temporary email, which is supposed to redirect the email to you - but we know it doesn't always work. Unfortunately, we only find out when guests call us if it hasn't worked. Sadly, we have no control over this, so I can only apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Generally very good. There was a delay in answering an email but that was explained. The emergency number was unobtainable for over 24 hours which was clearly a concern. When we raised an issue about the heating, it was dealt with quickly with a phone call from the owner.

Hello Richard, thank you for your feedback. It was me (Adam) that you spoke with on the phone regarding these issues. Ordinarily, I wouldn't go into so much detail, but I don't want readers of your review to wrongly assume the emergency number doesn't work. It's concerning to me, too, that you couldn't get through on the emergency number, especially since it is a divert number, that diverts to three different mobile phones, one of which is mine. I spoke with our phone provider, who shared the incoming call logs to their server, and it shows only one incoming call to the emergency number on the date in question, which I answered. That's certainly not to say you didn't try, but it is possible your mobile didn't have a good signal, which could perhaps tie into why we only received your email the next day, as per the screenshots I shared with you by email, showing the timestamps. Nonetheless, I can only apologise for the issues you encountered during your stay.

Herdwick quickly sent confirmation and follow up instructions, including double checking we had received everything. Unfortunately upon arrival the lockbox code we were given was incorrect however, the owner was opposite the site and left the key in the door for us.

Having spoken with the owner, it transpires that we weren't made aware that the code had been changed. We will, of course, make sure this is updated for future guests, and I can only apologise for any inconvenience caused. ^Adam

As a first-time user of Herdwick Cottages, I have been satisfied with the service and level of communication received. I was especially impressed with the telephone call on the evening before our visit. All other communication was via email and was very comprehensive, leaving me with no outstanding enquiries before our visit.

Lovely hut, more spacious than expected with amazing views. Bathroom facilities very nice. We couldn’t work out how to use the tv or Bluetooth sound system but it wasn’t really a problem for us.

Communication from Herdwick Cottages was proactive with easy to follow instructions for check in and was responsive when I had to communicate a potential check-in delay. The cottage was very conveniently located and had everything we needed and we would stay there again if we were return to the Lake District in the future.

We were very happy with our stay in general. The information and communication ahead of time were very clear and helpful. The property is in good order and very comfortable. There were a couple of snags particularly the blind in the upstairs bedroom was broken which meant we woke early the first night and had to make a temporary fix. Overall we were very happy with our experience and would be happy to stay again.
