About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I’ve been a member here for just over a year. It has been a life changing experience. From my regular spin classes to working one to one with a trainer and making friends with most of the team. I have since become a volunteer and I love it This is a warm friendly and very inclusive place to prioritise your well-being. Something for everyone”

“Plenty of classes to suit lots of abilities. Teachers are brilliant! Booking system is good, classes fill up quickly. Gym is very good lots of selection to cater for most Needs. Only downfall is more parking places needed. If halo or other businesses have training sessions in the halo centre the car park fills up very quickly. Brilliant to see the Rec (halo) busy busy. Have noticed the gym needed a good clean, the floor around the edges needed a good hoover and wash down. Overall love using the facilities it’s like a second home.”

“I have been using Ross Swimming Pool since October last year. Now five months later I’m 20kg lighter and I have one complaint - I wish I had done it sooner. Members of staff are very welcoming and always happy to help. Positive atmosphere keeps you motivated. Halo Ross team it’s been an absolute pleasure! Special thank you to Helen and Peter. “Having attended classes for a number of years, I would call it a happy and friendly leisure centre with a wide range of classes. Always found the staff to be helpful with nothing seeming to be too much trouble. From time to time there are minor maintenance issues, but that's only to be expected. My main beef would be that sometimes car parking can be difficult but that's probably only when one of my classes clashes with a local football match.”

We are lucky that we have free parking in the town provided by Highworth Town Council which means the car park outside the centre is used heavy by residence and other user of facilities in the area, and football nights are always a challenge! “Really could do with a good clean, apart from the floor, the toilets, showers and changing rooms look disgusting and if there are cleaned, the are not cleaned regularly or properly.”

“Overall I am happy with my experience. However, customers are frequently entering the pool without showering first and/or getting in and out of the pool to use the sauna without showering. For hygiene reasons, I would like to see more signs around the sauna area reminding people to shower before entering the pool, particularly after using the sauna, but in general this basic rule being enforced by staff who watch people getting in and out without showering. People must understand that skin exfoliating during a sauna & then using the pool to wash off & cool down without showering is disgusting. It is starting to put me off using the pool. Water machine has been out of order for weeks on the ground floor now so it would be nice to see faults repaired a little quicker.”

“Great facilities and great staff and always very helpful. The only 2 major issues I have is parking and the stink from gents urinals. 1. Parking is terrible. Non disabled badge holders parking in disabled bays and parking in general where some people just park wheverthey wish. 2. Gents toilets absolutely stink of urine, I use the toilet 2/3 times a week and it smells on every visit (I don't mean a hint.. it absolutely stinks of p*ss)”

“Good do with a really good clean Rust, mould and dirt I the swimming pool. Swimmers walk In to the changing rooms with their outdoor shoes despite the signs. I m not entirely sure that the staff don't wear their outdoor shoes in the pool either.”
