About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 22 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Offered free halo passes to disability family back in October (2021) last year and said it would take a couple of weeks to process. Received passes My 2022. It took 7 months not a couple of weeks to process!

Dirty changing rooms. The gym is tiny with hardly any equipment and it’s all very old. The building looks like it’s going to fall down.

I have withdrawn my involvement with Halo/CACC. Unlimited use of the gym, equipment not provided by users. PP, PA £114. Limited (X 1 per week ) use of Table Tennis, equipment provided by users . PP , PA £260. The above ( re' TT ) plus other post lockdown conditions for TT play as stipulated by Halo ,and contrary to what was agreed ,has resulted in many people discontinuing TT play in CACC.

I’ve been a member for years and I have noticed how dirty it’s become. The toilets need cleaning and the last time I went to the toilet there wasn’t any toilet paper. I also don’t like the virtual spin classes. I know some have instructors but those are limited. I think the cleanliness is letting the centre down.

This place is ran extremely poorly, i went in to get a 7 day free membership pass to use the gym, when i get there i’m greeted by two ladies (forgot their names) who were extremely rude to me even though i was right by saying i can apply even though i am 16 when they said you had to be 18 (they were wrong) they were extremely rude about it and made me pay £4.70 to use the gym for a couple hours, within an hour one of the ladies came up to the gym and apologised for being wrong. these guys don’t even know about the current offers or memberships they have going lol. In addition i came in the day after abs there was not a member of staff in sight anywhere and i waited 10 mins to get signed into the gym and nobody turnt up, therefore i just went up to the gym. Sort this place out or don’t go here.

Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback. The 7 day pass is aimed at customers wanting to try the centre before taking out a membership. So this historically was for over 18's who were in a position to set up a Direct Debit to pay for this. Once the staff looked into it further they came up and explain the error and apologised. The centre's reception is not always manned due to staffing levels. There is a scanner for your membership card to check yourself in and soon there will be Halo and go check in connected to the Halo App on your phone. I am sorry that your experience has fallen short of our normal level of customer service Kind regards

Gym was always too busy, classes boring and always over booked. I could never access the weights area, on several occasions some other gym members would stop me using an under equipment stating they were using it when they were not. When I went to find a staff me member none were about to help, which was often the case!

My children go swimming here on a Friday evening (bridgend) and they have recently been "told off" for putting their head under the water whilst swimming! They are 13 and 12 and are very strong swimmers! I mean come on..what kind of a rule is this??? They don't want to come anymore because they are not allowed to put their head under the water!

Gym is old and missing a lot of equipment. The machines are old. It’s crazy hot in there as AC works very poorly (if it even works), no windows to open neither. The gym is also small and other facilities such as changing rooms, class rooms and toilets are also old and unpleasant to use. For this price it is ridiculous for the standards you get. Gym membership in pure gym or anytime fitness is even less and gyms are well equipped and are new and clean. This gym looks like it is aimed at elderly people that only come to use a bike, but there is also many young people in bromyard who would definitely use halo gym more if it fixed the above instead of driving to other gym as I know I will only use it for summer time and then I will go back to my gym at worcester that costs me £12 and has similar levels of equipment but at least has AC, windows, and is clean and fairly new, as I truly think for £22 it is ridiculous what you get in bromyard gym.

Thank you for your comments. Ynysawdre is very busy and we have a high volume of lengthy phone calls. We do have a call centre that also picks up the calls. If you are looking at booking or cancelling sessions then you can do this via the Halo leisure app or the website. We will ensure the staff are made aware. Kind regards Ynysawdre staffing team.

Halo is only good for people who don’t work. They don’t cater enough for people who work full time. There is never any swimming app in evening. And just one on Saturday but when u have been working all week who wants to get up at 7 in the morning. ! But they want the money each month from u. If u are on the dole. Great 👍

When I last went there - there were no curtains on the cubicle- they’d been removed due to Covid. This stopped me ever returning to the center as not everyone is comfortable changing in front of others. Showers wern’t available either. There were no government guidelines which stated cubicle curtains and showers could not be allowed

Hi Claire, Thanks for your feedback. Whilst there was no government guidance specific to cubicle curtains and showers there was strong guidance around cleaning and sanitizing high touch points and enforcing 2m social distancing. Unfortunately, it was not possible for us to clean and sanitize the curtains between each user, therefore, they were removed and due to the layout of the building 2m social distancing in the shower area wasn't possible. Rules have now eased significantly and the showers are back in use and we are looking at installing new cubicles in the changing rooms. In the meantime, we will reinstall the curtains to the current cubicles for customer privacy. Thanks

I took my children to Ross pool when there were 2 lanes and the rest of the pool was open, yet people continued to swim 'lanes' in the open part. We stayed in the shallow end but it was impossible to try and teach my children to swim ( I cannot afford lessons) with people going straight through the middle of us all the time. Bearing in mind I would never dream of trying to teach in the lanes, perhaps a little more consideration could be given by the swimmers insisting on their selfish behaviour. It would be a great help if the lifeguards could cordon off an area for people in a similar position to mine.

Hi Emily, Thank you for taking the time to review our centre. Social swims are open to all members of the public meaning swimmers who want to swim lengths can attend as well as families. We do offer swim for fitness sessions to encourage lane swimmers to use these to complete their lengths. We find our social swims on the weekend are mainly families attending if you wish to try again. Many thanks Ross Halo Team

Not far off completely inadequate, the equipment is in extremely poor condition! The membership charge is not corresponding to the gymnasium! Many other places with lower prices and by far better equipment! The weights section is rather poor. The air conditioning system isn’t great also. Not that air conditioning is good for the human respiratory anyway! The gym needs sorting asap!

At the entrance is a lady that she bit even say hi. She's almost eating you when she looks at you. Already advised about her bad behavior once, when she literally have been very, but very rude. I successfully talked to the manager and she continued to talked over and listen and speak over my private discussion with the person in charge. However, she not even apologize. I really advise you not to keep that jind of people inside your firm as likely a big company goes down the hill because these type of attitude makes clients not willing to return. Thank you very much and have a good one!
