About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 22 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Bridgend centre is a joke, half of the equipment in the gym is broke or some of the weights on the machines you cannot use as the selectors are snapped off. The upstairs changing rooms for the pool constantly smells like drains and the spa area is in dire need of a good clean.

Cancelled our membership without realising that there was a months notice. Started receiving threatening emails demanding the last payment and also threatening an admin fee. Tried calling the number provided several times over several days but no-one picked up. Tried emailing the contact email provided in the threatening emails asking how to pay and just got bounce backs. Eventually realised they had spelt their own email incorrectly (members@halolesure.org.uk). Tried emailing members@haloleisure.org.uk on the assumption this is the correct address but got no reply. More threatening emails followed. Eventually in desperation called the main Halo desk number and spoke to someone who said they could take payment. Paid them over the phone. Money has come out of our account. To date I am still getting threatening letters and the most recent one has now incldued a £15 admin fee for non payment. Arrrrggh!

Poor service. Mark my bookings as unpaid for when I signed in and was told I can go through. Staff are very unreliable and very cold.

Not enough equipment in the gym. Way to many cardio machines, sacrificing the good weight lifting equipment. Always waiting to use a bench whilst there are 20 running machines free - change it please

A lot of equipment is faulty and out of service. Lack of good running machines.

The building and fabric is falling apart. One of the main studio had the roof panels removed for over 6 months. There is also a big hole in the plaster on one of the walls. The equipment is grey to black due to dirt, the floor is alway dirty. Toilets with no toilet paper or hand soap. The swimming pool showers don’t work, changing cubicles are dirty. Toilets are in a dilapidated state with tiles chipped again no toilet paper or soap. Staff are very young and inexperienced with zero customer service knowledge. I must say some trainers/instructors are very dedicated and try to do their best to work in the those conditions but you can clearly their frustration. Overall a very bad value for money!

The highworth leisure Center is ran by fantastic people. I have never had a bad experience with one member of staff. However I feel it is let down by the people behind the scenes it there time to resound and help maintain Borge the building and machinery inside.

Thanks you for taking the time to give us a review. I am disappointed we only managed 1* this time. The team are great and work really hard to keep the centre clean and tidy. We have started to see investment in the centre. We have had some maintenance work done on poolside and with the help of maintenance team and a volunteer have been redecorating. I know as a regular gym user this won't make a difference to your experience but we have exciting plans ahead so stick with us Harry x Many thanks Corina

badly organised, filthy dirty, manager just hides in the office. never enough trainers to take classes. slow service in the cafe. filthy dirty. could be so much more if anyone gave a damn about it. been giving this same review for years and nothing ever changes.

The gym was very out dated, most of the mashines are in very poor condition. Cables mashine dose not have the proper pin to adjust the weights! One of the benches is falling apart and should not be in the gym! Some of the mashines leave you with black hands as the rubber grips are falling apart! I believe that it is too expensive for the kit you are providing

The centre has always got gym equipment out of action. The jacuzzi hasn’t worked for years.

Price of membership has gone up but cleanliness of the place as very much gone down with the womens changing facilities downstairs smelling of sewage. Previously done a questionaire like this and was ignored as well as conveniently my membership being cancelled and then having emails asking for money. tried to email numerous times with my emails being bounced back immediately even though the email address is the one provided on the bottom of their correspondence to their members. poor customer service. there are limited gyms in Bridgend which is why they get business but i would venture out of Bridgend to a better place with nicer facilities and better customer service. i since have joined somewhere else which is 10x cleaner and the customer service is astounding and the price is way lower.

the changing rooms at your gym / swimming pool are dirty and that customers wear their outdoor shoes inside. This is a major health and hygiene issue, and I would not recommend this gym / swimming pool to anyone. The staff wash the floors but it's pointless with shoes being worn. Also poolside life guards wear the same trainers outside as when they are operating as a lifeguard at the pool side 🤷‍♀️ again not hygienic. At the moment I wouldn't recommend anyone to this gym/pool .
