About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 22 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

The gym is small and under funded the equipment is always out of order and if there were to be more than 5 people in the gym the changes are you wouldn’t have a machine to use , there are never any staff around to help the desk is always empty and sad that people who don’t drive and can’t travel further have to pay through the nose for a shoddy gym.

Daughters swimming lessons keep changing instructors and personally feel this stops her progressing.

Hi Toni Thank you for your feedback. All swimming lessons have contracted staff. Where there is annual leave or sickness then we have cover teachers which will vary. Each teacher has a scheme of work. When a cover teacher comes in they have the contracted teachers folder and look at what week they are on and deliver the classes set out by the contracted teacher. This then ensures that there is continuity in the teaching plan. Many thanks Ynysawdre staffing team.

my swimming lessons was cancelled because the direct debit was cancelled by mistake and we didnt realise. we were not informed of this and not told I was no longer able attend my lesson class as my slot was given to somebody else and i didn’t even know. also staff at the centre never answer the phone there this is an issue as you have to go there in person to sort it out

Thank you for your feedback. The swimming lessons booking system only allows children to be booked in with a valid direct debit. Your childs space would have become available due to the direct debit not being live. Therefore the space would have been available for other bookings. The system is live and can change at any time. You can continue to ask if spaces are free as it can change at anytime. The phones are very busy and one phone call can last between 1 to 20 minutes. So whilst we can not answer all the calls we do have a call centre that picks some up. We will feedback your comments to the staffing team. Thanks Ynysawdre Staffing Team

Lots of mistakes. Poor communication within reception Wrong instructions given. Direct debits blocks without a reason. Horrible customer service. I believe that one day when the new pool will shop up , lots of customers will leave Leisure poll due to horrible organisation.

The receptionists are so rude and don’t ever answer the phone. When face to face they give no eye contact. Bridgend angel street leisure centre. I have been to this leisure centre since I was a child and it’s always been the same. Not approachable and so unhelpful. Need retraining and possibly new staff. Swimming pool waves not ever working, the slide never open, shower always cold and just a drip comes out. Online app for booking is terrible, having to put everyone’s membership number for your family. You shouldn’t have to be a member to use certain facilities.it’s a shambles.

Terrible experience.cost us money that shouldnt of been taken.the dates of the dd were done wrong and cost me.they said theyd not take money then they do.lol .seriously bad.they need better experienced gym empoyees.ive built and owned 4 gyms in the past so i know how it works.just poor experienced young lads at the front desk.sorry but its the truth

Thank you for your email and your feedback. We are sorry you have not had a pleasant experience at our centre. The staff who are working on reception, work in the pool area, reception and cleaning around the building. The staff who work in the gym are in the gym working with the customers there. Any queries about the gym would be directed to speak with the gym staff. We do have a staffing team that has new starters at the moment. Training is key for these and learning so they can answer any queries. As with all new starters, this takes time which will then give them the experience. If you have any queries about your billing then please ask to speak to the manager on shift who can look into it for you. Thanks Ynysawdre Staffing Team

I cancelled my membership due to a family emergency and when I returned home Halo had charged £75. Even after I explained everything in a email.

App is horrendous for booking a family swimming, have to pop into the front desk beforehand, staff are miserable

I have never used a gym before but was not offered any help or guidance on how to use the equipment or set up a routine to achieve my goals.

The service I receive from the staff is shockingly bad. Customer satisfaction is non-existent. Policies seem designed to squeeze every last penny out of customers with no regard for value for money, common sense or basic courtesy. They operate with the attitude of 'it doesn't matter whether you're happy - because other customers will come'. I only continue to go because it's so local and there is nothing else like it this close. I think the fact that they are local is the only reason they are still in business because I know other local people who feel the same. It could be a brilliant gathering place for a small town like ours - a real social and fitness hub - instead we all go under duress because we want to swim/gym and there is nowhere better as close - such a waste.

The online booking app is poor and I always have to get a refund as it does not recognise me as being a member (gymnastics) for swimming. When we went to the pool the slide is out of action and the wave machine did not work!! What is the point in having these if they are not in use.

I had to cancel my membership after attending 4 spin classes and there not being an instructor present at 6:30 am there were classes full and each time no instructor which was a real shame as I used to look forward to the morning spin classes. I felt as though I was not getting my money’s worth and the cost of a membership is pricey compared to other services in the locality with better facilities and offers.

Thank you for your email and feedback We switched the 6.30 am class to a virtual class due to staffing issues. There are several instructor-led classes available throughout the week. Gym is in poor condition, changing room is in poor condition, very few classes put on, often no receptionist at the desk upon arrival. Whole place is very cold

I would highly recommend staying AWAY from their ‘no contract’ membership as it is misleading and lead to a lot of stress. I did not use my membership, had already paid and then tried to cancel, of which I was told I had to pay money to cancel. I am having money struggles due to covid, meaning I cannot afford to pay to leaving fee for something I did not use and now I have been handed late payment fees leaving me with an outstanding balance of £56 for something I have already paid £15 for and something I did not use! I cannot afford the fees and it will just keep adding up. It is extremely predatory. I did not use the membership and will have to fork out a total of £71 for the pleasure? Stay clear of this!

The new scheme is ridiculous no wonder why there not many people go there anymore you will end up bankrupt in 5-10 years

Thank you for your comments. We rely on feedback, positive and negative so we can improve. We have had some staff leave and sickness which has led to different qualified staff covering. The tablets are used by all teachers, so the cover teacher would be able to see what has been completed by the swimmers and can plan a session around the needs of the class. Whilst long term this is not ideal we are recruiting at the earliest opportunity. We do thank you for being honest with your feedback.

I am unable to use all the facilities that i wanted to use YOU HAVE JUST GONE TO ZERO RATING AS MY ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED STAFF IN BRIDGEND DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING INCLUDING MANAGEMENT THE ISSUE IS I CANNOT BOOK AQUA FIT WITHOUT BEING CHARGED ONLY THAT CLASS CHARGES ME
