About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I haven't really left - just using my membership cash to fund my grandchildren's swimming lessons. I have found all the staff to be super helpful and knowledgeable, professional and kind. I struggle to exercise, but find the Highworth rec a safe place for me to try to regain my fitness. I'm very much looking forward to rejoining once the second wave of our children are swimming. Thank you”

“A good selection of classes available with excellent instructors. Membership is a good idea if you frequent more than one class per week.”

“Although the facilites and staff are very good, I am extremely dissappointed that HALO staff fail to ensure that the disabled parking spaces out the front are only used for people with disabled badges. Every day without fail both parking spaces are used by people not displaying a blue badge. Yes I know the car park belongs to Highworth Town Council who are aware of this breach of the law but surely HALO should ensure that this very important parking facility is used by people who need it.”

But we will trail over the next month to remind user of the car park that the two left hand Bays are Disabled parking bays. PLease use the 3 spaces at teh front of the building if they are free too Many thanks Corina

“Maesteg Centre is a friendly and efficient centre. The staff are all professional and welcoming Mark Rees is especially a gifted young man that treats everyone with kindness and courtesy. He is very talented and imaginative with his classes. I have been to Marks classes for over 12 years. Through attending the classes I have made friends and keeping fit is a great boost as Im am 70.”

“The worst gym I've ever been to. Full of unsupervised children and teens. Equipment is minimal, tiny space so you can't work out without being crowded and intimidated. No classes, can't use the pool because its rammed with children and changing rooms and toilets are disgusting. Most expensive gym in the area except for David Lloyd and there's no comparison. Basically a dirty school gym and a rip off.”

“A great centre with outdoor swimming pool. Friendly staff. Everything you need. Only rated 4 as just a few minor touches would be great such as a visible clock for the swimming pool to help monitor how long you have left. The hairdryer in both changing rooms was broken.”

“The staff are great and very obliging. The site is very clean and tidy. Generally a very good service. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because it can perhaps be a little difficult to get booked into the classes if you do not get up early to go online. If it could be possible to consider increasing the number of classes available.”
