About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Maesteg Pool -(gym),not very clean,old equipment,not enough free weights,2 running machines 1 is broke,only 1 exercise bike. Could do with an update. Sauna/Steam Room Fan in steam room constant loud buzzing unable to stay in there for more than 30 seconds. Paying £36 a month- disappointed,only going there as it's local and the members and staff are friendly Halo really need to up their game.”

“It’s very disappointing not to be able to access Pilates on a regular basis. I started but unable to get into a weekly class therefore I haven’t been able to build up a good routine with the exercises.”

“There is a refurbishment of the ladies changing room at present which while being an inconvenience I understand is necessary. The staff are ok but compared to other halo centres in Bridgend are not the most helpful or approachable. The biggest reason for my low score is that the floors in Pencoed are always dirty. Despite only having one changing room to clean at present they are still very dirty every week.”

“Great classes with friendly, knowledgeable instructors. However, the staff on Reception are mostly rude and unhelpful, the kids' swimming lessons are awful (different teacher every week, very slow progress for swimmers), there are often huge queues at Reception and the self-sign in pillars rarely work and the cleanliness of the whole place leaves a lot to be desired. I would use a different facility if this one weren't within easy walking distance of my house.”

“Classes are great, instrutors are fab. But the swimming pool changing rooms always smell of sewage/dirty. Don't really like using the gym at the pool, always full of young kids messing around and left unable to get on the equipment. Gym at the center is great though”

Regarding the swimming pool changing rooms, we apologise for the inconvenience and unpleasant experience you've had. We take all feedback seriously and will look into addressing the issue with the sewage/dirty smell as soon as possible. We also appreciate your feedback about the gym at the pool. We understand that it can be frustrating when it's crowded and difficult to use the equipment. “Communication could be improved. When teachers not available more effort could made to cover classes especially during the holidays. Offer different teachers offering different types of Pilates taking morning sessions of Pilates rather than one type of Pilates being offered for all morning sessions. People need variety and choice.”

“It needs decorating and the to needs to be moved in the gym but the staff Natalie , Barry , and Darren from the gp referred scheme are very good also the new equipment are great but wish they had screens like bridgend”

“Monday and Thursday indoor cycling classes are amazing! Full of energy and positive vibes! Please can we have another class or 2 with Simon as it is so difficult getting in the class as always a waiting list 😭.”

“Natalie,Barry and the team do a good job,also attended a doctors referral scheme which was run by Darren which changed my life concerning a fitter life style cannot thank him enough”
