Ordering and delivering were very good, but the filter I bought was quite old stock and had some `spots` on it. I had to give it a good clean, which I shouldn`t have to, but the price I paid was so low that it wasn1t worth returning. Other than that everything was fine.

During these difficult times, my order was dispatched and arrived the next day, but that was because I had to pay extra. It would be nice if this service was offered free, normally I would go to the shop to collect. Why have an expensive camera in the hands of carriers extra days which could lead to damage? The camera is excellent, everything I had researched about it was spot on.

Good morning, Thanks for leaving a review and we hope to see you back in your local store soon. We do offer a free delivery service for orders over £50. But, priority services cost extra so Next Working Day is charged at £4.95 (it costs us more than this, but we susidise it to keep the cost to our customers to a minimum). By offering two postage options, both free and priority, we aim to be able to please people who need things quickly and those who would prefer to keep the costs down. But, in order to keep our own costs down and therefore our prices competitive, we cannot offer all postage free of charge as it is a very large expense to us as a business. No problems. order went through and it arrived in good time. Only quibble would be that I think it could have been packaged better. The film wasn't damaged, but the simple brown envelope it came in was.

Overall a good experience. Staff very helpful. Only four stars due to the Three Legged Thing L bracket looking like it had already been out of the packaging. Was I getting brand new?

Hi Michael, Thanks for leaving a review. Most of our Three Legged Thing items are website only stock so have never been out to a store for display. Our stock system also allows us to see every movement an individual stock item makes. I can see that this particular item has never been returned and would have had no reason to be opened. It arrived with us from Three Legged Thing on 08/12 and was dispatched to you on 11/12. We'd always state if an item was ex-display or get in contact before shipping if we found the box to have been damaged. This item is out of stock at the moment, so I can't be 100% sure about the packaging, but if I recall correctly, it comes in an unsealed card outer. If you have photos or more information we can pass this back to Three Legged Thing, but I can assure you that this is a brand new item that you received. I ordered and received a CAMLINK FILTER UV 52MM at a very low price, which arrived promptly. However, it appeared to have been used or at least to have spent a lot of time out of its case (also supplied), perhaps ex-display? It required a thorough clean before I was able to attach it to the lens. Cheap though... UPDATE: a very prompt and satisfactory response from Alex at Wilkinson Cameras, reassuring me that the filter was indeed new, but offering me an apology and a free replacement. No need, the filter is fine, but thanks anyway. Have another star on me ;-)

Hi Mark, Thanks for your review. This was definitely a brand new item and not a display item (we have several in our online stock with no need to have had it out of the box). It is perhaps possible that dust got into the case as it has been in our warehouse as they are older stock. Excellent pair of pocket sized compact waterproof binoculars at a sensible price. Only gripe I have (and it is a small one) otherwise it would have got five stars. The focusing wheel is very sensitive compared to my larger binoculars. But having said that it stays where you focus and doesn't wonder, with a very good build quality. Vision is pin sharp and bright for the size and price bracket, just the job for trekking/walking etc. So if can live with sensitive focusing, buy them they're really very good for around the hundred pound mark, I would say as good as pairs twice the price. By the way, I have bought numerous bits of equipment from Wilkinson cameras and never been disappointed. Tried and tested, long established. Speaks for itself.

The staff are always helpful and the used product was as advertised (I just need a chance to try it out). The only downside is that other shops offer longer warranties on used equipment.

Excellent communications, good service and quick delivery. Pity that despatch had to use a large box and lots of non-recyclable plastic. A small recyclable Jiffy bag would have been sufficient for a small 52mm lens filter.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. In order to send your item safely on a Next Working Day service with a courier, we used a larger box. Couriers and very small items like yours don't mix very well, so to ensure your item arrived safely, it was bulked up a touch. Don't worry, the plastic filler used in your parcel is the filler we receive in ours! All the packaging material that comes into us is recycled, including bubble wrap, air bags, filling chips, boxes. For example, we re-use plastic void-fill such as air bags, bubble wrap and chips when packing customer parcels. And we re-use as many of the boxes as we can do to send our parcels. The ones we can't are sent for cardboard recycling. And if we have to buy in cardboard boxes, these are made from recycled and unbleached cardboard. Hopefully you are able to reuse the packaging material and recycle your box with your local council collection. Hope this puts your mind at ease! Alex | Wilkinson Camers

I ordered a telescope from Wilkinson and was impressed with how quickly it was despatched and delivered. Unfortunately the telescope arrived damaged. I phoned Wilkinson and spoke to a very helpful advisor (Graham) who assured me that this would be sorted out. I emailed photos and they arranged for it to be collected and sent out a new telescope within days. Customer service was excellent and Graham not only emailed updates but called me to let me know the new telescope had been despatched. Cannot fault the service. Have set the scope up, seems impressive.

Very pleased with the quick delivery of the camera, but less happy that the box had been opened and the plastic bag containing the UK plug was not new (wrinkled and opened) plus the serial number sheet had bent corners. The last Canon I purchased also had protective film on the screen which was missing from this camera (maybe this is no longer the case). Before purchasing the camera I confirmed with Wilkinson’s that it was brand new and UK stock. I am now not so sure ours is. Unfortunately, there is no way on camera to check the shutter count and utilities only report

Good afteroon, Please be assured that our stock is UK stock and new unless otherwise listed as such (i.e. ex-display or pre-owned). Your camera is definitely brand new stock. However, it may be the case that the box had been opened, for example if we have needed to check something inside the box. There have been cases where despite our stock coming from Canon UK, they haven't included the correct UK plug and we have had to change this. We will investigate whether this was the case with your camera as this would explain the box being opened and the bag for the plug being wrinkled. You should have been notified if the box had been opned for any reason and I can only apologise that you weren't. It is the case that there is no protective film on the screens for most Canon cameras now and boxes are not sealed either. Speed of delivery and value of product was good. However the postage might be less than what was charged if you did not place the item in a massively oversized box with too much plastic filler. This is environmentally incorrect.

Our £4.95 next working day postage charge is actually subsidised - it costs us more than this to send items by courier! Because Royal Mail will not post batteries and will in fact remove and destroy any packages confirmed to be Li-Ion batteries, we must send these by courier. However, very small items like batteries are not suited to being sent by parcel couriers so we need to bulk up the parcels to ensure it arrives with you safely and on time. Please don't worry as most of our packaging is in fact recycled or recyclable packaging. We recycle all the void fill we receive (bubble wrap, air bags, polystyrene void fill) and as many cardboard boxes as we can when packing customer parcels. This is also why sometimes a box may be bigger than is necessary, because we're using what we have to hand. Any excess cardboard is sent to a recycling centre. Delivery was quick at a fair price. However I needed advice on a problem with using the scanner(subsequently resolved by advice from another source). I phoned, got a recorded message saying 'we'll phone you back, all our staff are busy'. Over a day later, I'm still waiting.
