“Response speed to my order was astounding - item through the letter box in less than 24 hours. Uncertain about the setting up I watched the "unboxing . . " video you can find on YouTube, since nothing with the device tells you whether the magnetic charging connection is one way up only. With that out of the way the rest was easy since the connector also functions as the link to a computer for flashing the device. Sensitivity of the aerial is good considering the size of the built-in aerial, receiving from and sending and sending to a Meshcore node 20 miles away. Battery charge lasts ~two days; below 40% it needed charging to get it responding. Someone who knows about these things told me not to charge above 80%. In practice, having disconnected the charging with the app showing 97%, the displayed value dropped to the mid 80s. I think I need a solar node to exploit the device to the full. My static node seems dumb compared to this tracker device.”

“Pi Hut service was excellent. Only gripe: The Argon ONE V3 m.2 nvme case requires a lot of faff and tinkering to get working. The manual is back to front (the prerequisites start on page 13). Would be helpful if this was made clear in the product description, purely to manage customer expectations.”

“I bought a Raspberry Pi 5 not really knowing just how much I would end up doing with it. I was interested in technology and wanted something I could experiment with, learn from, and actually build things with rather than simply use like another ordinary computer. Since getting it, it has become a little project of its own. I have used it to learn about Linux, SSH, networking and DNS, and I set up Pi-hole to experiment with blocking advertisements and managing the network in my home. I have also been learning how to access and control things remotely, and I have explored the idea of running game servers and other services on it. One of the things I like most about the Raspberry Pi is that it gives me the freedom to try things without needing an enormous amount of hardware. When something goes wrong, I can investigate it, fix it, and learn why it happened. There have definitely been a few moments where a simple command somehow turned into an entire evening of troubleshooting, because apparently computers enjoy making everyone earn their victories. I am 16 and have recently finished my GCSEs, and I am going into sixth form with a growing interest in technology, programming and computing. I have also started learning C# and .NET, so the Raspberry Pi has become another way for me to turn that interest into something practical. I originally bought the Pi because I wanted to experiment, but it has ended up being much more than that. It has given me a reason to learn about computers from the inside rather than just using them. I have made mistakes, broken things, fixed them, and learned something from almost every problem. For me, that is what makes the Raspberry Pi so good. It is not just a tiny computer. It is a platform for learning, experimenting and building whatever strange project happens to come into your head next. I am still only getting started, but I already feel like buying it was one of the better decisions I have made for learning about technology.”
