We had to wait several months as we chose a bed that was not in stock. It arrived on time and the delivery company were communicative and effecient. We were moving beds between rooms so chose self assembly. The packaging is good for avoiding shipping damage but there was an excessive amount of stickytape, clingfilm wrapping and expanded foam. Not great from an environmental perspective. The assembly instructions were clear but a couple of times it would have been better if items were assembled in a different order. The design uses many, many more nuts and bolts to our other iron beds - one uses none. Factory quality control appears to be lax, as another reviewer notes the slats are rough, poor quality wood with splits has been used. The slats only rest on the frame, so there is an instruction to not slide the mattress over the slats to avoid them shifting. All our other beds (5) have retention for the slats to avoid this problem. Turning a heavy matress on this bed is likely to cause slats to come adrift! The inserts in the posts that take a threaded stem that the finials are attached onto were very badly aligned (picture below all 4 were misaligned). I was able to correct this with a mallet and a block of wood, but a simple jig at the factory avoid this manufacturing defect, which I expect is routinely corrected on site by their assembly staff. We are happy with the bed, which is in a guest room, but would not buy from this company again.

The bed is great, packaged beautifully. But there were a lot of things that could be done better. This was a very expensive purchase, bought online. I received an online confirmation of my payment and delivery date, 8-10 weeks and that was it. I telephoned to confirm that the order was in progress, the person was very helpful, 8-10 weeks as advertised. I called a second time at 10 weeks, again very helpful, delivery was scheduled for 11 weeks, as I was in Scotland so that takes a bit longer! You need to up your communication instead of customer prompting everything. A 'thank you for your order and here's what will happen now...' would be a good addition. The delivery company were helpful when I called them, but I missed my first chosen delivery slot as their online system for confirmation didn't work. It's a big purchase, you need to make the process more personal and professional.

The entire purchase went well. My only complaint is my bed was bent during transport. I was able to mostly straighten it out; however, it is less than ideal for a bed that costed over $1000. I love the bed.

It is a sturdy bed, looks nice and was easy to assemble. However, finishing in some areas is not perfect and looks untidy. It is made in India, which is rarely of decent quality. You can dress the bed and hide it, of course, but that is not what I was paying for.

I have ordered a bed frame and mattress from the Original Bed Company. I was happy with the bed frame but wished to exchange the mattress for another one. The exchange was arranged quickly and without any problems. However, since then I have contacted the customer service several times by email to process the refund of the difference in price (the second mattress was cheaper) and I have not heard back yet about my refund (during the sale process the reply to my email was prompt). This has certainly spoiled my experience with the company

Product quality excellent, service not so. I had one query overy my delivery, made a call. Whoever dealt me was dismissive and patronising, had all the customer skills of an angry wasp. Great product by the way, just don't expect good service if you have a problem.

The bed is lovely but I was very disappointed by the sheer quantity of waste and plastic in the packaging. It was devastating to think of the environmental impact of this sort of packaging.

Hi Kryszia, I'm glad you lone the bed, and we appreciate your feedback on the packaging. It's a very fine balance trying to use as little packaging as possible, and still ensuring a customer's bed arrives in perfect condition. We have significantly reduced our packaging over the years, whilst still ensuring extremely low levels of damage in transit. One of our core beliefs is that something should be made once, and well. That said though, we are continually looking to improve and are actually developing a new packaging system that completely eliminates any plastic, and uses even less cardboard than currently. The bed is stunning , but unfortunately I emailed and called but got no where . In the video on the site it says beds are adjustable height but not on this bed which is proving a problem.

The bed is nice but the delivery was appalling my 3 hour window was given the day before as 5-8pm, but they called that morning to say they’d be there at midday. They then turned up at 1 having delivered part of my bed to another customer and spent another hour retrieving it. It also wasn’t clear how to assemble the bed, no instructions given, the only instructions online were for the iron bedstead which we didn’t have. No option online to pay for assembly. I like the bed but I wouldn’t recommend to anyone else.

Overall, really love the bed and had a great experience with purchasing and delivery. Unfortunatly, after about 12 months, started to have issues with discolouration and scratching on the brass parts of the frame. Looks like the bed knobbs had a weird coating on them that hasn't reacted well.

Hi Sarah, This certainly should not be happening. We coat our genuine brass in a lacquer to ensures it does not tarnish, as has happened here. It appears on this occasion that the lacquer may have failed. I notice this is on the top part of your bed knob and everything below is as new. This tarnishing can happen if wet towels are continually hung on the knob, so it would be interesting to know if this is the case here. Great service. Very well made bed. Great mattress but I bought a white bed frame and the finish really looks awful. So cheap and shiny looking. Looks like it cost me £100. Bad choice on my part I think.

Absolutely love my new bedstead. The man (whose name I have forgotten,sorry) who put if together was excellent. All my local family now have beds from the Original Bed Company, which says something good about the company. Pity it took so long to arrive and distinct lack of communication.

Expected a quality made bed frame but received a bed frame that was not quality ( welds poor and not straight, heavy dust on parts , ordered super king size bed - legs were cut 3/4 down poorly with rust on joints ? ) .

The bed I received is first class, good value for money, well made and exactly what I hoped for. I, was, however, fairly disappointed with how long it took for the bed to be put together and shipped to me (two months). The communication or ETA was lacking and I was only able to find out the ETA after chasing. I would also suggest assembling the bed with someone with a good brain for building and problem solving as it's not a simple thing to put together! Overall, I was very happy with the outcome and would recommend it to others!

In terms of the 2 month wait, 8-10 weeks is the time it takes for made to order items to be delivered. This is displayed directly above the buy it now button, as we are very careful to be open about how long an item will take. I can see the lead time of 8-10 weeks was also included on your receipt, and that the bed was indeed delivered within the quoted time. We would always recommend that customers order one of the many designs we hold in stock or that are on a shorter lead time if the advertised 8-10 weeks for made to order items is going to be too long for them. That said though, as our beds are made to last it can also be worth the extra wait for a design you really want. Best wishes, The Original Bed Company

The bed looks lovely and I like the fabric however they lost my order so when I enquired after ten weeks they didn’t have a record of the bed being ordered. Service was good to remedy this and it was delivered the next week however. When the bed arrived it had the wrong screws in the packs so I had to buy some extras to assemble it and now it is assembled after a couple of months it has started to creek very loudly.

The mattress is very comfortable. However it has a very bad smell, like being on a farm. I hope this goes away quickly. It's really not nice.

Hi Jennifer, Many thanks for the review. Glad to hear you find the mattress comfortable. As we use all natural fillings, it is not unusual for the mattress to have a slight wool smell to it. However, this should not be an unpleasant smell, and it does fade completely over the course of a week or so once the mattress is removed from the packaging and allowed to breath. Bought the Julia single which is just ok. Expensive for what it is, lots of exposed joints and joins. Looks like much cheaper ones I’ve bought in the past. Quite disappointed to be honest

Customer service isn’t great. No communication after purchase. I had to contact them myself and have been told that my bed is leaving their warehouse in a couple of days, four days later I had to call them myself again and have been told that my bed is only going to leave their warehouse in 3 days and at best is going to be with me in 8 days which is a delayed from a promised delivery date by a week. Why I have to find all that out myself. Why no one bothered to keep me up to date when I’m spending big amount of money.

The bed arrived when it was supposed to, nice bed easy to put together with two people, but I only give three stars because of the poor customer service the impression I got got was they didn’t seem bothered if they got my order or not.
