However good the quality of the beds, the customer service was unsatisfactory. I would return the frame had it been possible.

I needed a replacement piece for the base of my OBC bed (c. 15years old) and had the replace the whole base, but the design (no more plastic slat holders) is much better but… trying to get it ordered took 4 days of me chasing which was frustrating as my bed was broken and I wanted to fix it ASAP. This seemed unnecessary process to take my order! But delivery was quick and assembly easy.

We already have two of your iron bed frames. Like many people we needed another two quickly however our first two selections were out of stock so we had to choose one that we thought was only ok.

A beautiful looking bed. We found building it quite challenging and couldn’t get the head and foot ends completely connected with the vertical long screws. Therefore it is a bit squeaky! We bought the most expensive mattress/ medium softness but it is really very firm and smells of chemicals.

The quality of this iron bed is not as good as one I bought from OBC about five years ago. It seems much lighter and of inferior quality. It also took much longer to assemble as the instructions were extremely difficult to follow. The print was small and the diagrams hard to decipher. However I cannot fault OBC for their excellent customer service. I needed to change the delivery date twice and this was done for me without any problems.

Lovely bed.. took 3 months to arrive after payment. Nightmare to put together. Still have plasters on numerous fingers!

Mattress was too deep for frame and I felt unsafe as there was feeling of rolling off the side. Good maytress though in itself.

Ordering the bed was easy, delivered on time, delivery people where helpful, the bed was well packed and protected however there was a few scuffs and marks on the bed, informed the bed company who at the time where helpful to a point, instead of sending me a small container of touch up paint they sent me a small amount of white powder for me to purchase paint thinners to mix and repair the bed

Nice looking bed, not as well made as it could be or priced at.

We bought the Juno Cashmere mattress. Service and delivery were outstanding. So far, sleep and back problems have also improved. However, we have two issues: even after two months and daily airing, the mattress still smells strongly (sheep wool smell). Secondly, there are no handles on the top and bottom of the mattress making it really difficult to turn.

The beds seem great once they are constructed, however, the construction is a bit of a marathon. The construction instructions are very poor. Many of the bolts come already screwed into their destination and there's a high degree of deconstruction before actual construction can begin. The brackets also come tightly inserted into their destination port and it isn't initially clear they need removing. They are also very tight and a struggle to remove. The metal spigots that need inserting into the frame are critically tight and it's very difficult to align the bolt threads. Crossing the threads as the bolts are screwed is a real risk. It's also incredibly easy to construct the brackets and spigots incorrectly, leading to frustrating re-construction. The small rubber pads used to pad the metal slats don't really function well. In summary, good looking beds that seem sturdy once constructed but the construction isn't simple. If you've got limited DIY skills you might struggle.

The Bed and packaging arrived very dirty. We had to clean it before we put it together. When we told the OBC, they just apologised but no compensation offered. Disappointed.

Unfortunately the bed we received squeaked and we had to return it. OBC were quick to organise the return and to issue a refund.

The mattress I bought a few days ago is very good quality and although medium, I find it quite firm. I am trying to get used to it. My main grumble is that I am getting too hot sleeping on it. I have cotton sheets and a light duvet and cotton nightclothes. Tonight I will sleep with the window open. I can't return as I have thrown away the plastic covering it came with.

Hi, Thanks so much for your order and review. If you only bought it a few days ago we'd recommend trying it out and seeing if you get on with it. If not, do note you can still return it within 100 days of receiving your mattress, even if you've thrown the plastic away. We'll send another to package it and then organise collection. In general it is, however, always better to keep the packaging until you're sure you'll get on with your product. This helps save a little plastic. In any case, do get in touch with us on our sales email if you'd still like to return it. The Original Bed Co

it is a lovely bed, however all 4 of the threaded bars needed to attach the four top balls on each post were faulty, the threads were not straight and therefore were not fit for purpose. I also had an issue that my mattress was marked due to the protective cover having been ripped (maybe in transit?) and obviously something had therefore marked the mattress. I was able to clean it off. I contacted customer service, about both issues, and was asked for pictures. I only had one picture of the wonky threaded bar, which I sent. That was a month ago now and I have heard nothing. What a shame, because otherwise I am a happy customer, it would of been nice to be sent replacement threaded bars which I am now struggling to find.

Hi, I do apologise if you haven't got a response. This is of course, not the service we expect. I have chased up the customer service team and they will get back to you today. I've also asked the team to send out the spare parts. I'm glad you are happy with the product overall and we'll definitely do everything we can to resolve any issues. Bed quality good, everything else very poor. Quoted 8-10 weeks delivery, it took 13 weeks and I had to chase 3 times to get a delivery date. Worst of all was the excessive packaging, most of which not recyclable. 3 full bin liners + cardboard boxes and a metal bar, all for 1 single bed. Absolutely no excuse for not using more sustainable/recyclable packaging in 2023, other than company don’t want to pay the extra few pence. Hugely disappointing and inconvenient (had to take it all to the dump as bin men wouldn’t collect it) for such an expensive product.

We did quite a bit researching beds before buying and settled on the OBC as a specialist. When a bed was chosen, we were quite unprepared for the overpowering stench of the wool component and it was only upon complaining, that we were informed that this would be the case. How could we have known? To the two locations we'd phoned, no-one answered so we emailed with a follow up of the same a week later. Phoned again and a no-quibble replacement was made which arrived the next week. The wool smell was much reduced and the operative had said in advance that he would handpick the wool filling to ensure this. There seemed to be conflicting advice concerning the periodicity of turning and rotating the mattress, and in the end it was admitted that the precise manner of going it was not so critical.

We had to wait several months as we chose a bed that was not in stock. It arrived on time and the delivery company were communicative and effecient. We were moving beds between rooms so chose self assembly. The packaging is good for avoiding shipping damage but there was an excessive amount of stickytape, clingfilm wrapping and expanded foam. Not great from an environmental perspective. The assembly instructions were clear but a couple of times it would have been better if items were assembled in a different order. The design uses many, many more nuts and bolts to our other iron beds - one uses none. Factory quality control appears to be lax, as another reviewer notes the slats are rough, poor quality wood with splits has been used. The slats only rest on the frame, so there is an instruction to not slide the mattress over the slats to avoid them shifting. All our other beds (5) have retention for the slats to avoid this problem. Turning a heavy matress on this bed is likely to cause slats to come adrift! The inserts in the posts that take a threaded stem that the finials are attached onto were very badly aligned (picture below all 4 were misaligned). I was able to correct this with a mallet and a block of wood, but a simple jig at the factory avoid this manufacturing defect, which I expect is routinely corrected on site by their assembly staff. We are happy with the bed, which is in a guest room, but would not buy from this company again.

The bed is great, packaged beautifully. But there were a lot of things that could be done better. This was a very expensive purchase, bought online. I received an online confirmation of my payment and delivery date, 8-10 weeks and that was it. I telephoned to confirm that the order was in progress, the person was very helpful, 8-10 weeks as advertised. I called a second time at 10 weeks, again very helpful, delivery was scheduled for 11 weeks, as I was in Scotland so that takes a bit longer! You need to up your communication instead of customer prompting everything. A 'thank you for your order and here's what will happen now...' would be a good addition. The delivery company were helpful when I called them, but I missed my first chosen delivery slot as their online system for confirmation didn't work. It's a big purchase, you need to make the process more personal and professional.

The entire purchase went well. My only complaint is my bed was bent during transport. I was able to mostly straighten it out; however, it is less than ideal for a bed that costed over $1000. I love the bed.
