“The Original Bedstead Company 🛏 made me happy because I was able to order the bed I wanted with ease from viewing it online and phoning through with the order. Tony the gentleman on the phone was very polite, friendly and helpful and was able to give me lots of information on different types of beds and when they would be delivered. I was kept up to date via email of when my bed would be delivered. And my bed was delivered exactly on the day it was due to arrive. My bed arrived very swiftly, packed well and the delivery men took the bed upstairs for me as I asked. I was very pleased with the quality of the bed, very sturdy and looked beautiful. I particularly liked the colour which was glossy ivory and the height of the bed, which I felt gives it a more traditional vintage look. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and the company and would not hesitate recommending to friends and family. Thank you.”

“I am so pleased with my bed (Edwardian) it is fabulous. So easy to put together with 2 people and very well designed in that the slats lay in slots so they don't need screwing down and are perfectly supported in the correct position. I have had the bed 6 months and I can highly recommend this company. I did wait 8 weeks for delivery but I was expecting to do so as I ordered a non stock colour. Overall I am delighted with purchase”

“The Selkirk bed I have just received is the second bed I have bought from OBC (not too long ago, I bought a Hamilton bed, which is very similar in design) and to be honest, I was a little disappointed. The design flat part of the bed is just not of the same quality as previously. In fact, it now looks like it was built down to a budget - which is a real shame. That said - it's still a very nice bed.”

Hi Bazil, Many thanks for your review. Despite your preference for our previous base it's great to hear you describe the bed as being very nice. We redesigned the base over 8 months ago now, and we did so to incorporate metal slat holders and thus increase the bases lifespan. The holders were plastic previously and after 7 or 8 years tended to wear away or crack due to the friction with the sprung slats. Many manufacturers would see 8 years as good enough, but we aim for our bedsteads to last nearer to 20. Incorporating the same heavy gauge steel as before, with added steel slat holders, the new base actually costs slightly more to manufacture. Given the increased durability though it is a worthwhile cost. We believe our metal bed bases to be the strongest available on the market today. That said, we will be sure to look at the design to see if any further improvements can be made. Best wishes, The Original Bedstead Company

“Yes, I would recommend this company.We were able to pick which day of the week we wanted delivery, were kept in touch- with 2 hour text delivery warning and 50 minutes warning phone call which was very helpful. We ordered the Olivia iron bed frame which turned out to be very straightforward to put together and looks well worth the money. Had for two weeks with no problems”

“I am very happy with the bed that I have chosen but you should know that it wasn't easy, and took a long time, to assemble because two of the screws would not screw in fully. They appear to be in tightly enough to be safe but nevertheless they are not completely 'in' as much as they should be. It felt as though the frame was slightly off centre or out of 'true'.”

Hi Mary-Louise, Thank you for your review and we're glad to hear that you are very pleased with your bed. However, it should not be the case that two of the screws don't go in fully, and whilst we are also confident it will hold, we want your bedstead to be perfect. All holes are made slightly bigger to allow for small variations in tolerance, and it certainly should not be the case that any of the screws aren't able to screw in fully. “This is the third Original Bedstead company bed that we have purchased and we have always been extremely pleased with the beds . From order to delivery the company has been excellent in communicating even sending photos of the colour from the workshop so I could be sure before I purchased. The packing of the bed is exceptional to ensure no damage and once put together you have a very solid bed. Would definitely recommend.”

“OBC were very efficient throughout. Bed came very quickly from order date especially as it was as a special paint Colour finish. Delivery was bang on time slot as well. All in all a great service and I would certainly use OBC again and recommend to others.”
