Your tuna and Hiramasa were not good enough as sashimi. Tuna pack was not vacuum packed properly. Tuna and Hiramasa were looking really not good, but we still tried them as sashimi. However those were really not good to be eaten as Sashimi. Both fish had bad colours and no flavour. As our experience with Tuna and Hiramasa were bad, we are not sure what to expect from the rest of the order. Your products are not cheap, I strongly feel that, at least, those tuna and Hiramasa were not good enough for the prices you are charging. (I cannot comment on the rest as we have not yet tried the remaining of my order.)

The parcel of scallops arrived on schedule. I kept the overnight in the insulated container in our fridge but when I opened them ready to cook the only thing in each pouch was an icy mush - no sign of any scallops. I thawed them in a colander just in case but no luck. This is particularly disappointing as the scallops were intended as part of a meal for my wife's 70th birthday. An explanation please!

The fish was tasteless, probably because it was frozen in December!

I ordered 4 jars of salmon roe via The Fish Society website, a week in advance of the delivery date. Nothing prevented me from making the order, so it seemed that the product was in stock. A few days before the delivery, I got a call from The Fish Society saying that all of the particular product that I had ordered was no longer in stock. I was offered a cheaper alternative, which I accepted as I wouldn’t be able to order from another vendor for delivery in time. On the day of the delivery, I heard a knock at the door and within 30 seconds of this, I saw the courier van driving away. It would have been impossible for me to actually accept this delivery, even though I specifically stayed in the house to receive it. By chance, I happened to spot that the package had been placed behind a wooden panel near my doorstep. I could very easily have not spotted this. The specific instructions that I left for the courier were to leave the package at the village shop next door if I wasn’t in. I was in. There was no attempt made to check whether I was in and there was no attempt made to follow the delivery instructions. On The Fish Society website it states that very occasionally the couriers behave in this way. I have placed one order with The Fish Society and I have had one instance of this kind of activity. That makes me think that this is more than a very occasional occurrence. By contrast, I had another frozen food order delivered later that day by DPD and I experienced none of these issues (and haven’t done in the past). I even signed for it and everything! Holding one’s hands up a just blaming the courier doesn’t wash with me. When I opened the package, the product was fully defrosted and at room temperature. I saw no evidence that the product had ever been frozen. The Fish Society website makes the packaging process sound somewhat sophisticated, but the packs of dry ice don’t look dissimilar to the chilling packs that get put in children’s lunch boxes. I’m not sure how long these could keep a product frozen. There isn’t going to be any circumstance where I would order from this site in the future, unfortunately.

Hello Sam. Sorry to be the cause of such disappointment. Thanks heavens you found your parcel at your doorstep after the courier alerted you! I think he probably deduced that you were in. I would like to correct something in your review. The roe you ordered and which we ran out of is unpasteurised and must be kept frozen. We swapped you to the pasteurised roe which, as explained on our site, is not frozen (the reason for the different treatments is complex). So the roe you received never had been frozen and was indeed packed with gel ice, not with dry ice. Gel ice is not intended to keep a product frozen. Just to keep it chilled, which is the exact right treatment for the roe we sent you. I am afraid I have to suggest that it is most unlikely to have been delivered to you at room temperature. We have delivered thousands of jars of roe packed just like this and no-one has ever said they arrived at room temperature. Alistair Blair

Unfotunately not, the fish after thawing for 5 days were rotten and smelly and unsuitable to eat Shipment of frozen fish was very late  I am very sorry that our contract was not finalized and it is not about money I think you should change the delivery of the goods to the customer Even today, the smell and appearance of fish make me nauseous So sorry Małgorzata Maj

I cooked a whole salmon in a fish kettle exactly as directed on your recipe and it all but ruined my NYE party....I wanted to serve it cold so left it in the poaching liquid for 8 hours as per the recipe and the result was an overcooked sloppy mess which I had a dreadful job trying to position on the serving plate.....just awful. I would not recommend cooking salmon this way.
