Really happy with everything overall. Superb quality, delivery and communication. Only niggle was the differing thickness of the Tuna. 1 pack was 1/2 the thickness of the other. In fact the thinner pack was too thin to sear effectively.

Just to get the best out of the way, I'm delighted with the efficiency of the delivery process. In general I very much agree with the whole high quality frozen idea and this company has accomodated for this with remarkable efficacy. Best I've ever seen. Fully recyclable other than a few little plastic things whose contents vaporise? Brilliant, love the Japanese. The product choices have been, by and large, a success. The Wakame is restaurant quality worthy of Chelsea, the dusted squid is a time saving wonder of similar distinction. Many of these are indeed worthy of the subcription. There were just a few kinks however that did sour the overall experience as far as products go. The chiefest of all was that I came to this website initially to find decent sashimi for me to make at home. While the simple Maguro tuna has been the one with the least amount of misses, tuna is not what I came here to get. My personal favourite is salmon. And that, I'm sorry to say, has been an overwhelming miss almost every time I've gotten it. I only recall one order having a piece of salmon actually look like the pictures you put on its page defrosted. When I've gotten them, they've all been without the fatty streaks, a deep, unpalatable orange and even worse when tasted. This was so bad that for an order where I had asked for 7 of them, I had to throw the remaining 5 in the bin directly. Better there than anywhere near me. Quite disheartening and annoying. Perhaps someone would like to contact me to clarify, I'm open to the possibility that I was just mistaken. It seems hard to imagine that you'd sell it like that. I thought I was safe getting the saku block because it had been the coho that did it before but no, apparently I'm not safe with either of them. Which is a shame because that's main reason I came to you. So now that I'm done experimenting with other products, I'll be taking a step back from orders and will probably cancel the subscription. It's a good deal, but not worth it for me without this salmon. Other kinks are so small as to nearly be trivial, things like the wasabi brand presented in the picture does not seem the same as the wasabi you sent me, I wouldn't have gotten yutaka had I known. Pretty consistently mid and disappointing brand. And indeed it proved to be. Unworthy. However I am definitely grateful for you introducing me to the wonders of that fantastically efficient microwaveable rice brand from japan. Marvellous! I did get some more from somewhere else as this wasn't well priced on your website but thanks for that. The plain squid rings are unwieldy and annoying as they're encased in a ring of ice so I can't dust them directly. And when I put them in the frying pan as is it's an explosive nightmare and they're as rubbery as they are when I defrost them in water. The battered squid rings had way too much batter but once I got rid of the batter by submerging them in water and getting rid of it altogether their squid rings are ironically better, thinner and not rubbery. I appreciate you giving so much, but a lot of it seems to be the individual ice, which seems unnecessary. Perhaps it's just an instruction thing and I haven't understood what I'm supposed to do with it all. Either way, when I did remove them they were a rubbery mess. Also I did not expect the baby squid to be so big either, it says in the description you could fit a few in your hand. I suppose that's true if you have big hands like I do. Not sure if that's a complaint to be honest, just since I'm here and it seemed like another description inconsistency. I do apologise, this is a lot of complaining and it makes it sound like I hold your company in low esteem. I really don't, especially in terms of delivery process. And when your products hit, they hit up there with the best, no question about that. But some of these kinks are deal breakers for me. Particularly the wildly inconsistent salmon line, which as I mentioned has led to entire orders going to waste. I would be very happy to be proven wrong and shown so on all these matters, I certainly encourage you to do so since there's no doubt in my mind that you could. But anyway, I suppose that's enough. Thank you for this interesting experience, wishing you all the best for the future.

Everything I've ordered from Fish Society has been excellent quality, and I love how they focus on frozen seafood, which 9 times out of 10 is better than "fresh" and more convenient. But I have noticed that the more "everyday" items, like more affordable cuts of cod, mackerel or smaller portions sizes of things like arctic char, scallops, black cod etc are pretty much always out of stock. I'm guessing this is a stocking issue or because wholesale sales of these are prioritised (e.g. Abel & Cole seems to sell defrosted versions of these from fish society). Just a shame as it stops me from ordering as often as I would otherwise.
