“Choosing an insurance company was easy, but the company I chose made a typo error with the bike's registration number. When they discovered THEIR mistake, they wanted to cancel my policy, BUT were happy to correct their mistake if I paid another seventy quid to cover the cost of their administration, etc. I just hope they are as good at paying out (if needed) as they are at taking it.... Jokers.”

“I was very happy until, I moved house to be then told they wouldn't insure me. This has never happened to me before. We moved from the Midlands to Berkshire area, I am looking after poorly family so had to give my job up but there doesn't seem to be a label for 59 between jobs living of partners pension savings and supporting an ill parent to won't insure me. Very disappointing and a stress I could of done without on top of moving and a parent on end of life”

The Bike Insurer is a price comparison website, so we don’t make decisions about whether cover can continue following a change in circumstances such as an address or employment status. These are made by the insurer or broker you took the policy out with, based on their underwriting criteria. We do understand how frustrating this can be, especially when things change unexpectedly, but this would need to be taken up directly with your provider as they’re best placed to explain their decision.

“I bought bike insurance from this company. They asked me how many years no claims bonus I had and I told them accordingly. A few weeks later they phoned me up and asked how many bike no claims bonus I had and I had none so they said I had to pay additional £200. I told them to stuff it and I would go elsewhere. They charged me o er £100 for the 4 weeks that they say I was covered but in reality they would never have covered me because they said my insurance was invalidated so I paid over £100 for what? Complaint in with the ombudsman. Avoid this rip off company.”

The insurance you selected would have been arranged directly with the insurer or broker, and they are responsible for validating details such as no claims bonus and applying any changes to the premium. Adjustments like this typically happen if the information used to generate the quote doesn’t match what the provider requires when setting up the policy, for example distinguishing between car and motorcycle no claims bonus. Any charges, cancellation terms, or decisions about whether cover is valid are also set by the provider, not by us. We appreciate that the process can feel like one continuous journey, but issues like this sit with the company you purchased the policy from rather than The Bike Insurer.
