“The whole course was very understandable. I recall only one grammar lesson that I had to figure out further on my own to be able to pass the quiz and from a bit of searching I noticed I wasn't the only one. Otherwise, the classroom demos were good, my tutor was amazing and really helpful. I'm already considering getting another course to further my skills.”

“The experience was overall very good. But I wish there was a better way of uploading my work from word document so that I could organise and prepare the work more easily. Other than that I did on multiple occasions have a recurring problem where a few classes I had completed were incomplete and I’d have to rewatch videos multiple times for it register them as completed.”

“Overall, it was a great experience. I learned plenty of information regarding teaching English. My tutor was really helpful; his feedback was beneficial, and he always responded promptly. However, there are a few points that I want to address. I wish you would have been more informative about, such as a skills lesson, and I would appreciate it if you could provide a guide to teach us how to write a lesson plan professionally.”

“I had already some experience in teaching English and wanted to officially improve my practice. The 120 hours course was not annoying. It was interesting in terms of teaching technics. I would have appreciated to know more on class management (which is my main concern). Teaching large class was good. However I would have expected a more detailed course. On the positive side I really appreciated my tutor (Thomas)'s valuable feedback.”

“Good course content and generally well presented. Some topics seem to be dealt with very briefly, and I suppose that is the benefit of an in person class where discussion would have been generated. I had a excellent personal tutor who responded and marked assignments, promptly and with good relevant feedback”

“Really good course which taught me a wide range of grammatical knowledge and teaching skills. My tutor, was excellent at giving great feedback really quickly. The main problem I had with this course was that there were several classroom videos (20-30minutes long) in places where I felt a 5 minute video would have sufficed, it made me take much longer than I needed to and frankly watching for 30 minutes was tedious. I am not talking about the video observation course I did, more the grammar and methodolgy course. I appreciate videos are important to watch, but I genuinly feel that several of the videos could easily have been edited more concisely.”

“I did like the videos, instructions, exams, and quick feedback. I did not like that the assignment was too rigid about the word count and that you could not upload your word or PDF document but instead needed to copy and paste the content. Overall, I learned a lot from this course. I cannot provide detailed feedback since this was a 30 hour course, not a 40 hour course.”

“Overall, the course was good, clear and easy to work through online. I felt it lacked a bit in overall production 'slickness', seemed dated in parts. The sample 'bad lesson' videos I found a bit awkward/cringey to watch, but perhaps that was the intention. Finally, navigating your website is a bit clunky - the course itself was generally OK to move around but the rest of site didn't feel intuitive at times.”

“I undertook this course because I needed to have a EAL certificate. I did find it very interesting but a lot of the content was directed towards people who perhaps were not teachers so it was a little patronising for me. I am very pleased to have passed the course.”

“In general I felt it was a good course with some elements considerably more useful than others. The grammar course was interesting and I learned some things I'd never learned before. For example, I'd never learned the term "gerund" in any class ever. The methodology course was useful and interesting. The video observation course was "OK" . Teaching larger classes and the telephone teaching courses were less useful. The website navigation worked well most of the time with only occasional minor navigational inconveniences. It never crashed and was always usable. The videos were generally good examples of teaching technique. The difference in UK and American usage was occasionally amusing but not a major distraction. All in all it was time well spent and I got some ideas for teaching I would not have considered before taking the course. Thank you!”

“I found the lesson and instructions clear and easy to follow. Interaction with students and teachers gave me an insight into what an international English class may look like. I loved the quizzes and the 70% pass expectation as you felt as though you had a chance to redeem yourself. I did have problems with some quizzes where the answers weren't saved and I scored low the first time around. A technical glitch perhaps. Other than that, I am grateful for the support from Joanna, especially when tackling the end-of-unit assignments. I have no hesitation in recommending this course. Thank you for my certificate. “The only reason I'm giving this 4/5 and not 5/5 is because of the course about online teaching. It left some things to be desired. Most things are online now. It would have been great to spend more time gaining familiarity with that. I especially would have loved to have been able to participate in a couple of real/live online sessions where I could have acted as a student teacher or simply an observer. Another idea would be to allow us to teach a brief online lesson to someone, or to at least ask us if we would like that (I'm sure some people would prefer to pass haha, but I would have liked the opportunity). The only other criticism I have is about the part on "difficult" or disruptive students. As a former high school teacher, that part was a joke. If you want to prepare us for difficult students, we need to have much better examples of difficult students, not students who are great but may have misunderstood or forgotten the instructions. Thank you! If you like my ideas, then feel free to reach out and consider hiring me!”
