“I really enjoyed the TEFL course and I felt that it provided me with a real kick start to teaching English. I felt that the in-person weekend was incredibly valuable and that it was well worth completing. I felt that the online course was great, the only problem that I had with it was that the feedback that I recieved from some of the assignemnts didn't really reflect my coursework. It felt slightly watered down and overgeneralised. For my final assisgnment the feedback had actually been copied directly from a different assisgnment and the rest of the feedback for that section included promoting another course to complete. Whilst useful it didn't provide me with appropriate feedback.”

“As a teacher for over 20 years, I am wondering if there is a more advanced course? For example, I know how to write lessons and to discipline children/manage behavior. Also, I easily passed most of the assignments, but there is one I had to redo 4 times, and the tutor/teacher asked me to use a specific resource and then even marked it wrong. This was frustrating. Some of the things are either super specific to TEFL, have another name in education (lecture vs presentation) or are very British and not American. Also the woman with the Scottish accent (maybe is Northern England? Wales?) is hard to understand in the videos.”

“I feel I gained a lot of knowledge that will prepare me to teach an ESL class. I enjoyed most of the courses, especially the video demonstrations and the students and instructors in them. However, I did struggle with the lesson plan assignments. I think was confused by the students’ level of understanding in the videos - perhaps it was higher than pre-intermediate, the level that I was planning a lesson for? Regardless, it was still a very well structured course. Thank you.”

“Your courses were indepth and covered a very wide swath of examples through videos. I tended to read the transcripts more than watch, but enough so that I was able to get a good idea of presentation. I wish we knew what happened to the students. :). The feedback on the end of unit assignments were helpful but I wished there was more of an interaction between the me and the tutor. Perhaps the tutors are quite busy. Now that the course is over, there is nothing that compares with actually doing it and I am rather at a loss in how to proceed. Today I sent in an application to a local ESL school on a volunteer basis. There were some inconsistencies in spellings within the course: Course Book or coursebook? Plus, the UK English is a bit different in pronunciation, of course. But the one glaring error when one of the teachers said the brand name "NIKE". The CEO of Nike said it is pronounced "NIKEE" no matter where the speaker is from ('had to look that up). All in all I had a good time with the information and I am glad I took the course. Thank you.”

“This course gave me confidence in my exisiting knowledge of english grammar. Its foundational Teaching moduel was also quite rewarding. I now have good knowledge of how to structure a lesson plan, and what to look out for, when adapting the lesson plan for different situations. The other three modules felt not as fleshed out as the main two, and I didn't feel I gained as much from them, I understand they were only 10-hour taster courses.”

“Great course! Nice mixture of video lessons, written information and quizzes and assignments. Very good and thorough and quick feedback from tutors. Multiple choice questions could do with a review - some questions are not that clear and sometime choices are not clear. Not a problem in that you can repeat the test, but would be good to review.”

“Great course, would highly recommend to others. If I were to highlight one issue I had during the course, it would be that some of the video explanations were unnecessarily lengthy - the explanations were drawn out and sometimes deviated from what needed to be taught.”

“TEFL is a very impactful crashcourse in Teaching English to non-native speakers. It made me rethink how I teach ELA even to students who are raised speaking only English. The Course was so easy to work through and get a lot out of, and it was easy to find time to complete the courses, even in a really packed work schedule.”

“I was convinced by one of your long-time tutors that The TEFL Org was the best choice as I navigated through the many alternatives online. I was particularly assured that the diploma was a genuine and recognised given the hours required to complete it. My expectations in general weren't too high and so I have been pleasantly surprised. The 2-day face-to-face teaching was way better than I imagined. The material is well presented on the whole with a good mix of video and written. On that note, then, I personally would have liked to have had at least some video teaching on the exam preparation course which, I have to confess, was the driest of the courses I've taken here! I merely opted to take it on advice that it would be useful in attracting clients. The overall support and communications are really good (which is always a key USP for me!) and it's a real bonus to know that I am a student of yours for life in that general advice and employment opportunities are always accessible to me. THANK YOU!”

“The material is brief but concise. The presentation of the material in the system is quite neat and easy to follow, which help learners understand it quickly. Also, there are some interesting quizzes to reduce boredom due to monotonous activities. Tutor's response is friendly, fast, clear and encouraging.”

“The grammar and methodology content itself was very useful and informative, especially the video demonstrations by tutors. However, the assignment questions were often quite unclear and I noticed a number of typos and punctuation/grammer mistakes. On the written assignment questions, tutor feedback is minimal. There is no further input as how I could improve my answer and understanding.”

“I found the units and modules generally well structured with a good pace. I would have given a 5 star but the UI was a bit temperamental at times, losing assignment progress with the text boxes, quiz UI was a bit unresponsive and confusing at first. Very grateful for my tutor's fast and constructive responses.”

“I enjoyed the TEFL course overall. It gave me a good idea of what working as an English teacher would look like. I appreciated the clarity provided through the lessons and activities throughout. The only thing that could make the lessons better is if they were more interactive in some way. The end of lesson activities (quizzes and lessons plans) felt a bit too simple at times and didn’t allow for active learning and recall. I understand it would hard to provide a more interactive experience with this format, but I would have enjoyed a bit more of a hands on approach to writing lesson plans. In the form of a seminar or lecture where we could ask questions and get feedback in real time.”

“The course covered a lot. I was disappointed at the way some of the students were taught in a few sample lessons. They were sitting on chairs with nothing to write on and they were trying to write on their knees! They looked very uncomfortable. The layout of the room was awful. In one or two lessons the tutor was even sitting on the floor. I have taught for thirty years and found this really bad. Also a video of someone teaching a large class would be useful.”

“The course itself was good, I learned a lot and the assignments were challenging but approachable. Some of the questions in the assignments could be worded better but the feedback given by the tutors was good and helped when I made an error. In all I would / have recomended the course to family and friends. 8/10”

“The course is well-designed and organized. The flow is sequential and logical which is helpful. However, the videos are often boring and lack much dynamism which probably means that people skip them. The word "learnt" is not correct English outside of the UK and should be changed or removed from these lessons. My tutor seemed like a knowledgable person, but his feedback was often discouraging and sometimes unhelpful. I did not feel supported based on Alex's feedback and that I was just an assignment that needed grading. When I contacted him via message, he did not look up my work and instead told me he can't remember everyone's submission--fair enough, so look it up! None of the messages were linked to my submission which means that he might not remember what he told me outside the platform which was potentially problematic. I have taught college students online for more than 15 years and I think TELF.org's approach could be improved when it comes to delivering content for online learners. Perhaps a greater understanding of androgogy would be helpful. Good luck and thanks for a course that allowed me to meet my goal of getting the TEFL cert.”
