“I would change two things in this course: The introduction videos are not necessary as they are very short but do take quite a significant amount of time especially with the wrapping up with the logo at the end. If the student ends the video before it is finished (to skip the logo closing) it counts as not having been watched and that can slow down the studuying especially if the student is pressed for time. The second issue is frequently mentioning that something seems difficult but will be mastered eventually. This may seem like a good way to motivate those who seem overwhelmed but if said too many times, some students may feel underestimated, especially if they did not feel overwhelmed in the first place.”

“I learned a lot about grammar and teaching methodology, but the videos were a bit dated, and the telephone teaching course should really incorporate more content about zoom. I would have preferred to have more short assignments of 120 words and fewer longer assignments of 600 words. I would also contend that the feedback I received for the final assignment in the teaching methodology course should not have resulted in the need for a retake. I followed the S-S, P/W etc. format as detailed in the instructions, but my tutor preferred it formatted slightly differently. The main part that allegedly fell below standards was only 1/5 of the assignment. I had not had to retake any part of the course until then, and it was a sour way to end my TEFL experience. Overall, I learned a lot and cannot wait to put my TEFL skills to use, but having to retake the final assignment does not sit well.”

“The course was superb! I really appreciated the guided discovery of the tutors and the videos were very helpful in visualizing what to expect or what to avoid when teaching English. Go at your own pace while receiving feedback on how to improve understanding of the material being learned. I'd definitely recommend the course to everyone!”

“The course was pretty good. I appreciated that most of the vidoes came with a transcript because I enjoy reading more than watching somebody talk a bunch of words at me. If the classroom videos came with the transcript too, that would be great. I think I would have enjoyed more practice with writing lesson plans, and to just write so many of them that it becomes more like muscle memory. I really liked having a tutor as part of the course. My tutor was extremely helpful and quick to respond. Sometimes I had no idea what to write, but if I submitted something(to me it seemed like a jumbled mess), my tutor would give suggestions and point me in the right direction.”

“Very informative, comprehensive and easy to navigate. However, one video presenter needs to learn how pronounce correctly, it's proNUNciation, NOT proNOUNCiation - sounds pedantic, but if you cant use the broom, dont sweep the floor! I found the video presentations quite irritating on the whole, to be honest, and ended up preferring to read the text than watch those. But found the classroom videos very enlightening. Some of the assignment instructions seemed a little unclear, but I accept that it could just have been a case of me being stupid or something!”

“I really enjoyed this course. My tutor always replied quickly and gave me explanations for his answers. I do think the online material needs updating , there were a few typos in it and some older terminology in the telephone and online units. The amount of material covered and the videos of actual teachers taking classes was excellent and I particularly enjoyed doing the online weekend classes . I think you need this mix not just online on your own, great to work with people from other countries, and I would have liked to do more like this to really practice and consolidate what I was learning. I did have a few technical difficulties with tests locking on me but the support team were always quick to respond and reset these. I don’t have anything to compare this too, and I am aware there are lots of TEFL courses out there, but for me it was really good, informative and great value for money.”

“This course was easy to follow, straightforward and taught a good breadth of knowledge on grammar, teaching skills and how to best support your future students. Quiz and assignment format was good to check in knowledge. Some of the grammar section would have benefitted from phonological insights and explanations for why English has certain rules and irregularity. I found The videos were personally less engaging due to slow pace and incredibly UK tone but I appreciated the written transcripts for non audio learners like myself. Would be cool to see some non UK demonstrators as teachers. All in all a good course, took me 5 weeks part time and now I feel ready to go and teach!”

“The course was honestly better than I expected, it tried to utilize active learning principles by have interactive activities throughout the lessons and covered a more student-centric way of teaching. I found the organization of the lessons somewhat haphazard; especially the grammar course. For me the concepts didn't flow nicely together rather it felt like a bit a whiplash going back and forth between concepts. The observation course was also good, but I think it's lacking a "Medium" example. As a first-time teacher their are many mistakes that you make out of good intentions... like turning your back to your students to write on the board, not setting good expectations with students...etc. So having a medium example and an assignment to provide critiques I think would be beneficial for students. Having some sort of resource that goes more in-depth into the levels (beginner, intermediate, pre-intermediate...etc.) that identifies what they should be learning, and what they are already expected to know would be great. The lesson provided an overview but for me it's still unclear what those levels actually mean in detail and how to prepare lessons to meet each levels abilities. I also think the phone teaching course could be updated. I would probably rename it online teaching and having the phone teaching as a module within it given the popularity of online teaching especially after covid. All in all it was a good course and even though I already had a lot of experience as an educator, this course provided me with a good foundation to get started as a TEFL teacher.”
