“Company is great. But lately systemwide is acting a little strange on my win 10...it loses calibration preset so i need to add output and calibration profile almost every time i start windows.”

“I've always been a little suspicious about software that has to make up for poor room acoustics. Guess I'm from the old-fashioned 'nothing beats room treatmeng' variety. But when I recently saw the new Sound ID reference promo I decided to demo the software. Since I didn't have any measurement mic available, I only tried it with my headphones and was pleasantly surprised. As I recently moved to a new place where room treatment is impossible, I decided to take advantage of the release promo and bought the software and a measuring mic. Actually I bought it during the grace period, and I got the rebate payed back. A few days later, the mic arrived, I activated the software with my license and started the 20 minute measuring process, which feels like a game, really ;). After that, I loaded the profile of my monitors and was astonished by how 'flat' they sound in my untreated room. I just finished mixing an album, the mixes sound super good on any system I put them on. Great job, sonarworks!”

“Very good software, I've been using it every day since purchasing. Whether it's making the output curve perfectly flat or not, it does seem to be making my mixes translate better on different playback systems. I'm not sure I like how it hijacks my MacBook's output every time it's open (if there's a setting to change this, I don't think it should be default). I feel like I should be able to switch outputs in the Mac preferences, because I don't like the interface for changing outputs within soundreference id. Occasionally ill be unable to get any sound because the relationship with the MacBook audio outputs isn't smooth, and I'm confused about which volume is muted. I think that the preset curves for translation check are a little ridiculous or need to be updated. Most phones and laptops have a better range since these curves were made. But those are minor critiques and I think the software is successful in its main purpose.”

“The product is good... it does what I got it for. The user interface is just OK. I seem to get it now but it was not easy to understand some of the basic parts, especially the systemwide calibration and the app that configures it. I know the online documentation tries to make it easy and hand-hold you through the process but to me it was not good and I ended up having to feel my way to around. I think an actual user's manual would help a lot.”

“All in all excellent Software, been using it for a while now, makes my masters better. HOWEVER one star removed for the new SoundID Windows Standalone App, which keeps quitting randomly and with no apparent reason. Please fix. Best wishes, Dario”

“Have been a big fan of Reference for years. Very happy with the updated version & what it offers. Only downside is I've had the odd minor problem running it on M1 mac (trouble with the install + a few random crashes) but it works well 95% of the time.”

“Does what it claims to do. The upgrading from R4 to SoundID was not seamless, the software would not open after my demo expired and i opted for the upgrade from R4. The customer service provided me with help, but it took them a week or so to reply. The new features in SoundID compared to R4 is not worth the upgrade, the only reason i did was because they will eventually stop supporting R4. So, to put it short; if you have R4, don’t expect anything groundbreaking and do it because of future support. If you are completely new to Sonarworks and thinking if it’s for you.. get the demo and try it out. The core function of R4/SoundID is great.”

“I have upgraded to SoundID Reference for my Beyer DT770 pro 250s and works extremely well. However, the software has bugs which I have reported. One is that if Sonorworks loads before devices are connected it fails, it does not check whether the device is connected and wait until it is or offer a message for you to tell it when you have connected. A more annoying bug is that sometimes I get gobbled sound through my speakers connected to my audio interface and only when I quite Sonorworks do they work properly. If these bugs were fixed I would probably move to 5 stars.”

“Sonarworks's SoundID Reference is the product I ordered from them, and it is great, especially if you are a musician who travels constantly, as it allows you to try and simulate a flat frequency response virtually anywhere (of course room treatment is better, but this is fairly close to what one needs). Before this, I didn't even notice that my Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro (reference studio headphones) were actually boosting my lower frequencies instead of giving a flat response, as intended. I'm giving a 4 out of 5 (more specifically would be 4.5) because I'm having an issue that the "Safe headroom" keeps resetting to -10.0 every time I reset Windows (-6.1 is the safe headroom value), and even after submitting my issue to them, I still haven't got a response after almost a full week. Their customer support needs to be better to get the full 5 points.”

“It does what it says it will do! Just wish I could midi map functions in Cubase with sonarworks instantiated as a control room insert. Also, request for dark mode for vst plug-in version. It only seems to be available for the systemwide.”

“Whilst I think the improvement on audio quality and consistency that can be achieved with Sonarworks Reference (or SoundID Reference) is absolutely fantastic, the user interface and stability (MacOS) are less stellar and need more work”

“I have been using Sonarworks for many years. SoundID Reference has a bug on my computer that has not been addressed. It does not automatically sync to sample rates even though they are the same as the computer and VI's. I have to change to a different rate and then change back to the correct rate inside SoundID.”

“I use this every time I listen to music or produce tracks. Its and amazing and invaluable tool and the new parametric eq is a great addition. Why not 5 out of 5 stars? I find that the headphone coverage doesn't update frequently enough, they have only added a few headphones over the several years I've been using Sonarworks - it's a slow trickle. Also, while their low-end headphone coverage is impressive, they still don't have enough coverage of the high-end headphones - in particular HEDDPhone, Hifiman Arya (and - Ananda, HE1000 v2, HE1000Se, HE6se), Focal Clear Mg (and Pro), Sendy Audio Aiva, Meze Empyrean, to name a few. Perhaps sell special boutique headphone calibrations as addon packs for a small fee if calibrating these headphones are too costly?”
