Not sure how to review something I have yet been able to use. Previously used ref 4 for headphones which worked fine. Bought upgrade to mic, speakers and headphones. Spent a week trying to get it to work uninstalled, reinstalled, installed previous versions and none work, opened a couple tickets with little response aside from them asking for information I had already sent. I've essentially given up on it.

Waste of money - just a bit of fluff from sonarworks to eek out another £50. Software is (as usual) buggy, and their customer service just isn't. Another bugbear of mine is that the written instruction is always wrong. The 'just go hear and click on this' written instructions never have the paths that are on my M1 MAC. To conclude - another faceless coorporation pretending to by friendly, whilst always having a eye on your money.

Unlike any of my other plugins, this needs an internet connection for license activation every 10 days or so. Solution - provide another option to customers to allow for offline use - dongle etc. If this is not an issue for you then you may find it a useful plugin.

Hi, Thank you for reaching out! Our offline mechanism has been implemented this way to counter piracy. Unfortunately there is no workaround for the offline activation. Absolutely useless. The company is unable to explain why there is an unbalance between the L/R channels when enabled. Furthermore, the software is causing some weird problem in the phase correlation and stereo image. I've sent a video explaining and documenting the problem to support, and nobody had been able to explain why it is happening or how to fix it. They also take many days to respond. Untruthworthy. How can anyone trust anything mixed or mastered through this software? Absolute bummer, as the technology seems impressive. Turned out is nothing more than snake oil.

Hello, Thank you for reaching out! The left and right channels are measured independently and there could be nuances between both speakers that might cause the unbalance. I would double-check if there is any DSP feature built-in in the speakers themselves. If so, make sure to set it to the default values as they came from the factory - to their default values. The listening spot is a feature within SoundID Reference that accounts for the differences between monitors, disabling it could also improve the disbalance. If not, re-measuring and making sure that monitors are set the same should be worthwhile. Let us know if that helped!

They sent me a special offer which was almost the full purchase price and I bought it. Then found out it was only an upgrade. Customer service is awful and has not replied to attempts to sort it out. Awful company.

Hello, Thank you for the review! Unfortunately, when the license was purchased there were no full licenses available for discount as it was an upgrade exclusive sale. If you'd like to use the upgrade code, simply purchase the regular SoundID Reference license and apply the purchased upgrade code. However, if a refund suits for you best, please let us know. I purchased the microphone for room measurement and never received it, contacted Sonarworks through the support section of the website twice, no one even replied or tried emailing back. Seems to be a good product but I apparently won’t find out. Be careful purchasing anything online

Totally pointless upgrade from reference 4. Had to do it because they refused to create a Pro Tools ARM AAX for reference 4, even though I’d only purchased it two years ago. No difference in sound quality, and I don’t use the new gimmicky profiles like “car” or “ns10s.” Basically had to pay a whole lot of extra money to keep using the thing I already purchased.

A totally unnecessary product. Just learn your monitors and save yourself $300. Also, be warned, if you return the mic, you will have to send it to Latvia. In other words, it's very expensive to return the mic because of the cost of international shipping. In addition, when I asked support for a walkthrough video tutorial, I was told that they are working on it. This product has been around for some years now. How is it that they don't already have a video tutorial of setting up the mic, etc.

Every headphone or studio monitors will have some deviations across the entire frequency range thus making one speaker sound unique apart from the other. Where audio precision is critical, SoundID Reference is the perfect tool. Our software does remove these deviations making you mix and master with confidence, knowing that your sound will translate well from the flat-calibrated setup to any other sound system. I've had problems with not being able to use my Apollo 6x because the SoundID intermittently inserts itself as the output device instead. SoundID doesn't have output capability so suddenly I have no sound, no studio, no money coming in, and time lost figuring out why. I wish it wouldn't do this. Additionally, while I was calibrating the speakers it would intermittently start playing an annoying sound through the speakers, probably about 1kHz, which would go on until the speakers rebooted themselves. If I disconnected the network cables from the speakers the problem went away. Maybe you shouldn't release software until you've got it working correctly? Just a thought

Hi Dale, Thanks for your review, sorry to hear your time with the software so far has not been entirely positive. By default, SoundID Reference has the setting to overtake system output enabled in its preferences, this can be disabled if you don't want the systemwide to automatically be set as the output device on your system when it is running (for more details, see our guide here: https://tinyurl.com/526n49bt). I was overall disappointed with the support of Sonarworks SoundID Reference. Two days after my purchase, I received a qualification for a school discount. Unfortunately, the support could not change my account to Educational and refund me the difference of the paid product. Instead, they wanted me to return the entire package, which will then be reversed, and I will have to buy it again with the discount. My wish to keep the product and get only the difference back could not be met. Overall, I am very disappointed with the support of Sonarworks SoundID Reference, as they did not comply with my request and did not give me the chance to find an easy solution.

No se informa inicialmente de las carencias de un producto a medio terminar, con muchos problemas con Mac OS. El soporte técnico te toma por idiota e indican que como a ellos no les da fallos a ti tampoco te puede ocurrir. Extremadamente lamentable.

It was impossible to use Sound ID reference, lags for 20 and more sec. After 50 min of measuring ( with lags all the time) it was impossible to use, sound drops and app stops. Used with Dell laptop and SSL 2 interface. Now using prev vers. Sonarworks reference, just VST.

Today it's been 15 days the package was marked "delivered". It never arrived. I'm struggling with the support that is handling the situation very poorly and as well trying to contact fedex. I am very disappointed as it's the first time i'm paying this amount of money for a product that has an excellent reputation and then its company is unable to deliver it properly or fixing the delivering issue.
