Been using Reference 4 for years and the new target curves as well as the ability to eq them is a real game changer for me and is improving my mixes a lot.

I've never had any problems with support centre, it's quick and effective. Shop works great as well. I would recommend it.

It's a lot more stable on system wide on mac os than previous reference 4 version had become my 2019 Intel macbook pro i9 machine was struggling with reference 4 with high ambient air temps it's way better now with the new version. Also enjoy being able to create my own curves instead of just the tilt eq that was available in ref 4. Cheers

The shopping experience was quite straightforward and easy to navigate. I did run into a very minor issue at the checkout, but the support team got back to me immediately and was very keen on helping me out. My only recommendation to the team would be to continue support for older versions of the Software. I'm on version 5.2.3 (legacy version) since I'm on Mac OS 10.12 and there are some minor bugs that I experience, like having to quit and restart the systemwide app sometimes because it doesn't show up in my sound preferences, etc. Overall I'd highly recommend my audio engineering friends to invest in this software and a big thank you to everyone at Sonarworks for creating such a helpful product.

Hi, We hope you're doing well! Thank you for your review, we really appreciate it! Even though it's been a while since you posted your review, we wanted to follow up with some updates. As you mentioned in your review that you have encountered some sleep state issues with SoundID Reference, I wanted to let you know that we have recently released a new SoundID Reference beta version (v5.7.3) which includes a major rework of the macOS driver and aims to resolve various issues such as sleep/idle-time problems and the SoundID Reference virtual device disappearing from the output list. We have been working on these improvements for a while now and we hope that the product experience is greatly improved for our macOS users. For more details on the beta and steps on how to install it, see our Community post here: https://www.sonarworks.com/community/soundid-reference/posts/12241588603282-new-beta-macos-driver-update-beta-testing-soundid-reference-beta-version-573 If you have the chance to try out the beta, it would be great if you could let us know about your experience in the Community post linked or by submitting a support request. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! Best regards, Zane from Sonarworks Team

The overall experience is been good. I have some minor complaints though. Even at higher buffer size settings I still have some minor glitches and drops. I have also tried to use the security buffer but is still happening. without S everything works fine. My latest setting is 512 buffer + 512 safety buffer. This is an ok compromise also to not get too much offset from online streaming lipsync problems, especially with Youtube. Also, on the stand-alone app, I don't understand how the latency value are fluctuating from 30 to 150 ms a bit randomly even if I'm using the "zero latency" mode. In my opinion, this could be also the cause of the glitching, since the software is looking for more drive from the processor while is working hence more internal latency. On the plugin version of SoundID, the glitch is still happening, the latency stands still at "0" but it is impossible to use it while playing or recording virtual instruments. That means that is adding extra latency to the output bus anyway. Besides that my recommendation would be to have an "auto bypass on bounce" function or warning to avoid applying the correction curve accidentally. Besides this, I think the app is cool. Thanks.

Yes, the thing works! I got the demo and then bought on the black friday deal. The difficulty was average. Your web support section: I found Getting Started, but once in there was confronted by a confusing and highly technical list that seemed to have nothing to do with my needs. The followup emails were more relevant. I've had a few issues that I shared with tech support -- they have been on point. The last sequence of the monitor setup was very confusing. It wasn't clear that I had to move the microphone to a new position. And the microphone icon in the diagram, while accurate, was also confusing - maybe an arrow wd be better? The app window jams all the target modes to the bottom of the window - those are what I use most so it makes no sense. And I can't seem to change the display order. I will never use Dolby Atmos so why is it 2nd?

I was a little confused by the layout of the website initially - the bundle that I was hoping to buy with the headphones and mic was sold out on Black Friday, but appreciated the quick shipping! I ran into some issues with downloading and had to go into the .json log and delete the previous license (I think it was from a trial) so that was frustrating initially but once I figured it out, the process was smooth.

Sonarworks is an essential tool in my studio. With Sound ID I can actually teust that what I’m hearing in the studio will translate to the outside world. The reason I give it 4stars is because I’m listening on several different monitors, when mixing. But to quickly switch between them with their respective calibration is a bit of a hassle, to say the least. Sonarworks should come up with a monitorcontroller with built in calibration..

When it works, it is fantastic. Works just like it should! I've had issues when switching between audio sources where I need to restart SoundID. It's not a big deal, but it will interrupt my workflow and the only reason it didn't get 5 stars.

Easy update from version 4 (both the purchase and installation). Enabled and disabled make a huge difference for my living room studio. Nice addition with the different listening environments.

I think your design and everything is pretty cool and I remember the contact with the support center was fast and informative. One thing I remember being not that easy for me was “Finding the right product on your page”. I looked for the headphones only version. Maybe you could put the download link for the program to every version on its own. I know it is the same software but I could imagine, that it’s easier for people, when they can download where their actual product is. Hope you can understand me. All in all it’s a nice clean appearance with a pretty friendly team behind it.
