good for headphones, not sure I trust it in room situation as the room acoustics are so complex

Would need more different headphones in the app.

I was really happy with the way it handles the freaquencies and the phase. It removed phase problems from bass freaquencies which was a big deal breaker for me. Before it was really hard to judge and make mix decisions with the bass. I also noticed that it was so much easier and faster to eq things and get super tight results. Suddenly and very quick all the mud was gone and instruments sat to their places so nicely. The thing that I dont like so much is that it makes suddle stereo widening to mono sources like vocals and kick drum which our in this case dead center. It make them sound little bit like stereo source. The thing that supposed to happen is overall better stereo image but this is something different. It feels little like m/s processing is taken place and the mono sources starts to here from the sides making them wider. When I turned off the spot correction it made the effect little less noticeable and made them more mono again but at the same time the overall sound suffered little bit. Overall this is a very good software for making better mixes. The stereo widening thing is something that I can live with.

Great software, but something I bought (Systemwide) was made a free part of one thing I also bought (Headphones), so I feel silly.

I'm not real sure how I'm supposed to use the plugin,I do hear a difference when it's engaged. Maybe thats all it does ,IDK.

Dear Joe, Yes, you are using the plugin correctly! The sound you are hearing is flat frequency response curve, which allows you to listen and mix audio with confidence that you are hearing and creating a sound that is not biased by uneven headphone frequency response. All the best, Sonarworks team.

I bought the headset, speaker + mic and systemwide. The headset calibration i awesome, but the speaker reference don't work on my system right now. I know you are working on it, but its still a little bit frustrating not be able to use it.

There are too few kinds of headphones.

It feels a bit unnatural and really makes tired ears. Also I am not quite sure if the stereo information is correct, but thats just a subjective thought. I am using it in linear phase mode. I evene thougt about using a embeded sytem which can run vsts, with a built in dac/adc to use it on the headphone output of my console. I am mixing/mastering by comparing speakers/headphones and every time I want to listen to the speakers I have to turn off the vst. I think the idea behind is amazing, but im not 100% happy with the result. keep up the good work, I love the plugin anyway.

I like the headphone and speaker software very much. Audible results for the better in lesser treated rooms. It doesn't do anything for room reflections, it wasn't designed for it, but the EQ shaping has been a great help. Unfortunately, the authorization scheme is where this software falls terribly short. I realize ilok and other anti-theft methods are terribly expensive to license, but as a person who reinstalls their system every few months, I simply stopped using the software. There has to be a better solution for the consumer instead of manually activating/deactivating and having new codes issued for the software via email exchange. Again, great software. Great if you never modify or upgrade your machine or OS. I hope the user base grows to the point where Sonarworks can finally move to a protection scheme that is easy and friendly to consumers as well as working better and easier for their business operations.

Systemwide needs to be able to work as a single solution without 3rd party programs and additional installations and without necessitating clumsy WDM driver implementation to replace our already existing I/O ASIO drivers, like Lynx AES16e in my case. ProTools 12.5 is already problematic with programming around core assignement and recall when reloading sessions. With as much latency as Ref3 introduces, it needs to be after the DAW and needs to work with users' existing ASIO output. Windows 7 64 bit user here, i7 3770K with 32GB ram. Ref3 does not play nice with high track count and high plugin count sessions in PT 12.5, and from what I can tell a good chunk of the problem revolves around plugin delay compensation. At present, I am considering the possibility of switching products towards a MiniDSP hardware setup just so I can eliminate the latency and CPU load in PT12.5 I am waiting to see if you solve the Windows system-wide problems first. If you came up with your own AES/EBU I/O hardware DSP solution, I would buy it right now.

The software is very cool, but not nearly as useful as I had hoped. I watched a ton of review and setup videos to try and determine if Reference 3 was right for me, and based on the information I found online, I concluded that it was. I have a small, acoustically treated home studio, and I'm running a pair of Eve SC208 monitors. I got the free demo of the software, but it's fairly useless without the calibration mic, so I finally decided to spring for the whole package. I received the mic, calibrated my system, and began listening to music to train my ear to the newly flattened audio. My first impression was negative--the flattened signal didn't expose more mix detail or improve the listening experience versus the raw audio. I could not detect any significant decrease in comb filtering in my room, and I quickly realized that any prospect of a refund was out of the question. I decided to give it a few weeks, to see what I could get out of it. Sadly, I concluded that Reference 3 is not a useful addition to my studio. I have not used it for the past month, and I am unlikely to use it again. I am dismayed to report that it has been a waste of money for me. If your situation is like mine, please spend your time and energy (and money) improving the acoustic treatment of your space, and training your ear to recognize the nuances of your monitors. Perhaps for your setup, Reference 3 is indeed the right choice for you. Please just proceed with a healthy hesitance, especially if the cost is a major factor in your decision.
