My last purchase of prescription sunglasses was not a good experience. Firstly it took around three weeks. No one from Scrivens told me about the delay or the reasons for it until the second time I telephoned around 2 weeks after the order. Then when I called into the shop after three weeks I found that my glasses were in the shop "waiting to be checked". Frankly I expected better. This was very poor customer service.

I was promised delivery prior to my holiday, unfortunately you were unable to keep your promise. When I collected the glasses, three weeks later I was told the order had been lost in the system! I will have to think hard about returning to you.

My wife arrived for eye test - her first for well over 10 years. It hadn't been entered on the computer. Luckily she was able to be seen at the arranged time. Quite good service so far. The choice of frames for her required reading glasses - quite another matter. I stressed that nobody else would see them except herself and she duly looked at the £19 range. However on leaving i found she had paid £69 for the lens and £89 for the frames! She's 71 for god's sake! Being presented with a credit card is not a passport to a great bonus! Bicester scrivens Goodbye!

the eye test was good. The hearing test inadequate due to excessive noise from the over the test room. I complained at the time.

Quinton branch Walked into shop to the reception desk to confirm appointment. Spoke to girl standing behind there. To find that she not seem to be receptionist . Another man then got off his chair and laptop from other part of shop to book me in. The same happened to another visitor to the shop who came in after me. Not at all professional When my consultant was free I was directed by the same man whilst he sat next to me he pointed to the room where to go and said the one on the left . I am thinking could he have not introduced me to the consultant ? Unprofessional and poor customer service . My optical consultation commenced and whilst I was answering questions we were interrupted 3 times within the first 5 minutes by another member of staff asking questions to my consultant of a different matter . Unprofessional yet again . Bearing in mind there was only me And an elderly gentleman seated in the shop the four staff in there were not rushed off their feet. Improvements to be made I feel are Make use of the Reception desk and staff need to be seated behind it to greet customers into store. Customer service training needed Customers (ie. ME) should not be interrupted at all never mind 3 TIMES after they have commenced their optical consultant and then to be charged £30 for the service . I will certainly not be recommending this store

Being my first time using Scrivens I expected at least good service, I have had my eyes tested numerous times over the years, the last ten with Tesco, but as they have now ceased to provide this service, and did not like the firm taking over I thought Scrivens would be a good option, was welcomed at my appointment, but felt they were somewhat in the stone ages with there equipment, and did not like the part where close contact was made to look behind my eyes, still I persisted, and my eyes had a slight change, so therefore I had to order two pairs of glasses, one for reading, one for driving which have to have a blue tint. I completed my order an signed, paid in full, and awaited delivery to the shop, within a couple of days they arrived, the reading glasses were fine, but don't feel as clear as any new glasses have felt in the past, the second pair came back minus the tint, therefore had to be returned to make right, some days later I was by the opticians and called in to see what was happening, after checking it was found they had come back, but know one informed me, extremely poor service, and will not use again, unhappy customer.

I've had gas permeable (hard) contact lenses from Scrivens for about 30 years. Examinations, fittings, eye care excellent, I'm not complaining about that at all. But the prices are crazy. I lost a lens a few days ago and they wanted £140 to replace ONE lens! Went to SpecSavers, which gave me a fitting appointment the next day for £20 (Scrivens charges £35 if I remember correctly) and a new PAIR of lenses for £100.

The staff were great but I was expecting the price on the frames to be the overall price like my usual opticians, but the lens price had to be added on which made them much more expensive than my usual ones, but the main problem was that the lenses weren't right. My vision seemed slightly blurred so I took them back and I am having a retest done which I am hoping will solve the problem, but feel disappointed that they were wrong in the first place.

The eye test was uncomfortable to say the least, 15 minutes of someone in my personal space, breathing in my face and tickling my face with her hair. There were machines in the room to do the same job but sadly none were used. The choice of frames is very poor. These points mean I will not be returning next time. The fitting and the girls in store were lovely, I can't fault the service and friendly attitudes

Took 6 weeks and 2 days from the time order was placed to obtain my new glasses. Two separate faults with manufacture of lenses. Fault was not with Scrivens directly but you have chosen to use an unsatisfactory subsidiary to produce your glasses. Shop staff were pleasant and helpful but little evidence of any sense of urgency to put right the errors. In 50 years of wearing glasses I have never experienced this sort of delay. Have been promised £50 refund to be paid to my credit card. Hope this does not take as long as the glasses.
