The Optician has been for some time now very good at his job. The sales team are more overpowering and lean to wards intimidation by following up the most clever worded fishing offers. ie rewards that are not applied.

The optician was very veey good but I was so disappointed with the fitting and service I received regards my glasses. I’m still very dissatisfied as the lenses are thick and I paid to have them thiner. Because of the ill fitting i chose another pair but it was only pointed out that the edge would be thicker not the whole lense or I would have chosen a different frame. Also in hind sight I should have had the cash I paid for thinner lenses refunded. Regards Robert Moore

Reception staff quite standoffish, not particularly helpful Optician I saw was lovely and very informative Glasses and lenses quite expensive

I have been a customer of Scrivens (Leesons) for a number of years. It is the first time I have not been completely satisfied with my glasses. I had an eye test in August 2017 and new frames and lens but I found a problem with the varifocal I considered them not to be in the correct position having to keep lifting my head up and down to be able to see correctly. I did go back to Leesons and told them about it, they tried to adjust them but they did not improve. I decided to purchase another pair of frames with just the bottom half magnified particularly for computer use. Again these were not satisfactory. I had a second eye test in May this year again buying new frames and changed lens but I am struggling again with the range of the varifocal and still consider them to be wrongly placed, having to move my head about to be able to focus on a subject. Unfortunately I am considering changing my optician. Can I say I also had my hearing tested there and was advised on hearing aids. Can I say the service was impeccable and Simon could not do enough to make sure my aids were correct and suited my purpose.

The eye test was very thorough but a 6 week delay waiting for glasses to return from having new lenses to my old frame was diabolical .

Great lenses. Delighted with the clarity of my vision. Poor frame choice working through all the various makes on line made me give up. Used my old frame from another optician. Very concerned that when I need a new frame I may not find one in the shop I would be very sorry to not be able to use Scrivens.

Good eye test. Quite expensive glasses my prescription is not easy to read which means I’m unable to order a second pair of glasses online.

Examination was satisfactory and obviously I needed spectacles... this was first time eye test for me and could only be advised as to what I needed... I now discover that they are not really what I required and have taken prescription to another outlet to get correct ones made ! Was not impressed about contact to tell me when specs were ready... in end I rang them!

I'm not sure how to rate Scrivens. I have certainly had positive experiences at Scrivens. I find their staff are very polite and friendly. They remember my name and are welcoming when I come into the store. But recently I had a less positive experience - I was given a prescription that really didn't work for me. As soon as I put the glasses on it felt something was not right but I was advised to persist with them for 6 weeks - fair enough - I know it does take time to get used to a new prescription, but as time went on I was more convinced it was not right. Then they agreed I could have another sight test to check the prescription but on two occasions they rang me saying they would need to cancel the appointment I had booked. As my availability was limited too it ended up taking several weeks to actually have another sight test at which the optician confirmed I would be better off with a different prescription. After another week or so I was able to collect the glasses with the correct prescription and it is much better. So the issue was resolved by Scrivens but it did take quite a long time and I'm not sure how the mistake came about in the first place.

Mix up with payment of sunglasses and eye glasses were caused by lack of attention by staff. The employee made me feel very uncomfortable as if her mistake was my fault. The sun glasses, purple frames do not suit brown lenses which caused vision to see everything Purple. It took several weeks and a change in colour lenses, to grey to rectify the issue. The mail employee who dealt with the issue was very helpful and ensured the issue came to a satisfactory conclusion. The eye glasses are too strong and give me a headache. I will not look to order glasses with Scrivens again as there is very little choice at the shop, generally styles for old age pensioners.

I have purchased 2 pairs of glasses in the last 4 years. The first pair I have not been able to wear at all!. I went for an eye test a couple of months ago and have had to go back several times as my glasses aren't right. The lens have been change and I have been told to wear them for 5/6 weeks to get used to them!. They are still not right, so I shall be returning to Scriven's opticians Royton once again!!

Recently had to buy replacement frames after damaging my newish glasses. Lenses fitted successfully but had awful trouble with adjusting fit -headaches and bruised nose despite numerous repeated visits to get frames adjusted. Taj was patient and tried his best but nose pad supports damaged by other assistants and fit never right since. Have now had to abandon the glasses and gone back to previous pair (and old prescription) until I can afford to start again. Very disappointing after many years with Scrivens and good service. Will go elsewhere in future.

Apart from the new glasses had to be replaced having only had them a few days and not wishing to repair wife’s hearing aids you are not do very well. Shop staff ok above that heaven help us

I didn't realize how expensive my glasses were going to be. If I had have known I definitely would not have gone to Scrivens Opticians knowing what I know now! The reading glasses were 100% more than an alternative Opticians. In other words, I could have got 2 pairs for the price I paid at Scrivens for one pair. I have since realized this. The shop assistance is extremely polite & persuasive in their marketing techniques. The Glasses case is extremely flimsy and of inferior plastic material. I would definitely not recommend SCRIVENS to anyone I know, unless I didn't like them!

Really miss the old staff team at Midsomer Norton they were friendly, knowledgeable and cared. New team are brusque, different every time & you don’t feel like a valued customer.
