“They offered me removal companies who were fully booked already. Pointless and waste of my time and money. Very frustrating.”

“When asking for a quotation for a survey of a property, you expect to find a few differences with pricing. Unfortunately it appears there was little difference in any of the quotations, which leads me to believe that an element of price fixing may be being used. Only one company came back to me with a 20% discounted rate, saying it was a spring saver deal. I expected a greater difference between all the company's that quoted me. After all a survey is just a survey. I was not impressed by any of the quotations or companies that were presented to me. It would be more beneficial if a wider range of companies could be offered, to ensure completion in the market place.”

Dear John We strongly refute your claims. Your enquiry generated different survey quotes as follows: Homebuyer Report quotes £230, £324, £350, £360 and your Building Survey quotes £325, £360, £400, £516. For a property under £100,000 this is quite a wide variation. Our Chartered Surveyors are in charge of their own prices, and we have absolutely no influence of these prices. This is why you received a wide variation of fees.

“Appalling firm. Lorry leaked, underestimated size of job, no furniture was protected, clothes stuffed crumpled into boxes not on hanging rails. Huge loss of furniture, books, bedding, pictures, electrical goods due to water damage from leaking roof. Firm very unhelpful when I complained. Do not use at any cost.”

“Took over a week to reply to my initial request for a quote by which time I'd received 3 from competitors. I then received sporadic voicemails for weeks later wanting to follow up on my request. We had already chosen F Smith & Son who were ultra reliable, fast, friendly and very professional.”

You should have received 3 instant quotes for removals from us, but we apologise if the manually quoting companies did not respond promptly - we shall be discussing this with the firms in questions, so thank you for bringing this to our attention. “After using this service I found the prices way too expensive so i shopped around on google and found at least 3 companies over £1000 cheaper!!! Not good enough a service really”

Thanks Lee. Your move was particularly complicated, requiring quotes for packing, dismantling and reassembling furniture, plus pick ups from 3 different locations to take to one final destination in a different county. We work with quality, professional removals firms that would have charged accordingly and had the required insurances and equipment for such a move.

“Extremely high priced quotes in comparison to what we were expecting. We had a small 1 bed flat and i tried to stress that we literally needed a van to move the stuff due to the size of items we were unable to move ourselves in our own cars. We perhaps had 25/30 items such as flat pack wardrobe pieces and a double mattress etc. Quotes came out at £400/450 more than what we ended up paying by going with an independant. We decided to go with the local firm (who had all the necessary insurances for our items) rather than go with one of these big companies and we saved a lot of money.”

“Not a great website, the 2 companies that got back to me proved to be unreliable in keeping appointment times. I won't be recommending or using this service again. I ended up calling a few removal companies myself and got a good deal that way.”
