“Permaseal damp proof paint. Liquid membrane for water and vapour proofing applications. Project - renovation of a 180yr old property. My ground floor W/C needed updating so stripped back to render walls, with the intention to board over with Trepanels however the oldest 9” external wall being very rough damp area required a damp protection, and i found a product to be an ideal solution and gave the wall a clean finish from where to install the trepanels and w/c fittings. Many professionals within the industry believe that walls of this age that are built with lime mortar should be repaired externally with lime mortar to allow the wall to breath, however this still allows water penetration to the building. It is my belief that we could come up with a better way to protect our homes such as a product i have come across that when coated on the external of a wall which is a clear transparent coating and will not allow water into the brickwork but at the same time will allow the wall to breath, so when applied in the summer when the wall are dry will protect the external walls, therefore with the Permagard applied internally i believe we can provide the longevity of buildings in the future. Just a note to say i spent 15 yrs as a bricklayer then construction site manager for 20yrs and then site project manger and client project manager for 20 yrs until retirement. During which gaining CIOB qualifications in these areas so i did learn a bit along the way. Hope this helps. Mark”
