“A little goes a long way! I used two coats exactly as prescribed over some pretty hostile graffiti. I’ll be honest, I was expecting to have to use several coats but two coats and then the final coloured (santex) coat was all that was needed. Check the pictures.”

“Hi there Steve, thanks for all the advice that Chris and your other experts gave me. I found that my 'damp' problem (rotting skirting and flaking paint work in two specific areas in the centre of the house) was not due to rising damp but to damp absorbed into the relatively new (3 years) plaster I had had applied to the walls in this area of the house. The new plaster was applied right down to the floor boards and it seems that it absorbed moisture from the atmosphere and from the walls due partially to the salts in the walls and partially to lack of circulation of air under the floorboards in this area of the house. So as well as installing three floor vents, and cutting back the new plaster about three inches from the floor boards behind the (replaced) skirting, I applied several coats of Permagard to the plaster after having stripped the paint from the walls in the damp areas. I am not sure to what extent the permagard has contributed to the solution, there has been hardly any sign of salt deposites on the surface of the plasterwork but I have assumed that the permagard has played a part though the provision for greater air circulation under and behind the skirting seems to have been key also. The proof long term will be that the rotting of the skirting and spoiling of the paint work does not return. Thanks again for all the advice your experts have given me. “I haven't used the plugs as of yet but the 200 washer membranes plugs contained less washers than specified on product I bought. I brought 3 packs of washers each supposedly containing 200 washers each but each packet had 4 or more less than it was supposed to. At the moment I have more plugs than washers.”
