“I ordered several plants. There was communication about some of them being delayed. I was then emailed to say they were arriving - they still haven’t and no one has replied to my emails. The phone number only goes to an answering service to tell you to email them - am not left with any options as no one replies to emails! I’ve spent over £200 and have finally received the 3 small grasses that were going to be delayed. The trees and shrub are still a no - show even though I have an email saying they were delivered last Tuesday (8 days ago now). So I would advise to go elsewhere for plants!”

“We paid almost £1000 for 4 field maple trees. 3 of them never came into leaf and one is struggling along, they are all planted in a row next to one another on the same day. For the size of the tree the root ball was very small and mostly clay and in my opinion these probably never stood a chance from the point they were left on our driveway (photo attached). We have followed all of Paramounts guidance to try and get these trees to leaf out and no joy. Paramount were happy to respond to emails at the beginning, but since we refused the replacement trees at a higher price than we originally paid! They have stopped communication. We were looking for a partial refund. We have replanted smaller trees from Chew Valley Trees (still 3m tall). Despite being a shade smaller, the trunks are considerably thicker, root balls are mostly soil and they come with guarantees, especially if purchased in winter were they have a leaf out guarantee. This service does not exist with paramount so I would recommend no one orders trees from Paramount. It's been a very expensive experience and we have received a far better experience from Chew Valley Trees (to the extent that I was a little concerned about leaf blight on one tree and they phoned instantly to offer a replacement tree FOC next spring should there be any issues).”

“I bought six mature standard trees plus compost, stakes and feeds this year from Paramount, total order value approximately £2,500. The trees are as described, in good condition and were carefully and competently delivered. Contacting Paramount is a weak point: the phone was never answered in about a dozen times of trying and return of left answerphone messages was slow. Email seems to be the best method of contact though this too doesn't always get the quick response one needs for advice. The advice is first-rate; I simply suggest you carry a phone around and take it in turns to answer it. Simple: I've done it for years. The supplied wooden stake posts are much too wide a diameter, 5-6cm, to get into the ground. I ordered twelve from Paramount, which I carefully pre-stained green, now redundant. I wish I had not bought these from you, a waste of money. Tom's video notion on your site of knocking them in with a mallet ("..a mallet will do..") is fanciful. Even pre-drilling as I did with a long 20mm masonry drill I could not get these in more than an inch or two below the dug out hole. My solution, which I recommend to customers, was to buy steel fencing posts from Wickes. They are a perfect size for the masonry drill (which takes care of obstructive small stones and roots in the ground), come in 2m and 1.5m lengths and are nicely painted black. They are straightforward to hammer in and provide discreet and firm support. Customers should note that the Ligustrum japonicum trees I bought had been potted with supportive wooden blocks which made removal of the pots prior to planting difficult. Don't waste time as I did trying to prise the pot off the rootball; the blocks will have swollen jamming them against the pot and they are stapled to the pot wall anyway. Just sacrifice the pot by cutting it off the rootball with heay duty secateurs. Overall, though there are some improvement points which I think Paramount could make, the trees now in a fortnight look excellent and I hope they will flourish with my planting and after-planting care.”

“I was really pleased with the quality and health of the 4 plants I received from Paramount Plants. They arrived on a company lorry which I hadn't expected, but meant they'd had a specialist looking after them during transportation rather than them being outsourced to a 3rd party logistics company - and you could tell that made a real difference. They are all doing well now that they are planted and look great!”

“I ordered 4, regular sized bags of compost. These were delivered today on PALLET. Buyer Beware. If you order compost from this company it will be delivered on a full size palette which you will have to dispose of as the delivery company would not take it.”

“Very happy with the service, although had to wait an extra month for delivery to allow for a bit more growth time. The wisteria is stunning and smells wonderful. The lantern tree will hopefully come on quickly and be as prolific in flower as its predecessor. My husband thought the acer was a little 'rangy' but of good size. Would buy from again.”
