“coffe taste ok but not the best or value for money when you can get better out the super market for cheaper”

Hi there, thank you for leaving a review of Pact’s coffee! We’re sorry to hear that you don't feel our coffee is worth the price compared to what you can get in supermarkets, and I'm happy to explain why our coffee costs a bit more. Naturally we do hope you enjoy the quality of the coffee but understand its not always to everyones taste - the cost per bag of our coffee comes from its specialty-grade quality, the care taken in roasting and processing it, and the care taken by the farmers to produce this fantastic crop! Every bag of coffee delivered to your door goes to ensuring that the farmers get a great wage for their work, from House coffee through to Micro-lot. Unlike supermarkets who buy commodity coffee, we buy speciality coffee via Direct Trade with our suppliers. We pay farmers at least 25% above the Fairtrade base rate and last year we paid on average 65% above Fairtrade base rate. This is based on the average price per lb that we paid in 2020 of $2.32 vs. the Fairtrade base rate of $1.40. And this means we're able to support farmers around the world more than we've done before to actually make a profit so they can build sustainable futures for their farms and families. We hope that by giving farmers a decent price for their beans, they can be paid their worth and reinvest into their farms and community. We really do see this make an impact, and so with each coffee you receive, we let you know what difference Pact has made to the people who grew the coffee. As a result of this, and us delivering fresh coffee to your door at your convenience, we appreciate it's a bit more pricey than supermarket coffee, but we think the difference speaks for itself! “I was sent an e-mail gift voucher but it must have gone to spam, so I wasn't aware of it. My friend asked me (after 1 year) if had enjoyed it, and was going to send me another. I contacted customer services and they re-sent the same code but it had expired by a couple of weeks. Pact wouldn't honour it or provide a new one. Pity, as I probably would have signed up for a recurring order.”

“I've been a Pact customer for two years. I buy House coffee beans and grind at home. It's a rich, strong coffee but not bitter. I love that I can simply speed up, defer or cancel any delivery by one or two clicks. Delivery pack fits the letter box so it doesn't matter of we are out.”

For future reference you can set a frequency of your choice, and you've only charged when a bag is sent out, so if you want you can have a 60 day frequency and receive a bag of coffee every two months! “The coffee is disgusting for starters and I’ve tried cancelling this payment for over a month now and some how they are still charging me subscription when I’ve cancelled it”

“Great coffee. Hassle-free to order and prompt delivery. Love the ethos of the business. However, it is a real shame you haven't been able to reach your pledge to "switch over to a fully recyclable plastic bag by the end of 2021". Hope this is being worked on so that we can continue to lessen environmental burden whilst continuing to support communities and livelihoods.”

Hey there, First of all... welcome aboard! We're really glad you're enjoying your coffee and our ethos! We are very aware they're not easily recyclable at the moment, unfortunately as it stands to retain the coffees freshness and quality we're not able to offer any alternatives for packaging or sending your coffee just at the moment. However that being said, due to the volume of orders we send out each day, an easily and fully recyclable bag has been something we've been working on for quite some time. It's been a challenge to find the right product, to retain the freshness and quality of the coffee as I mentioned and for it to also be suitable for our letterbox friendly parcels. Unfortunately, this is a challenge that we are still yet to surmount.
