“My husband has two 800ml tough canteens which have been brilliant, particularly as they fit snugly into a bike bottle cage. As they'd had such a great road test I wanted to get a couple for myself - one 800 and one 500ml so it would fit neatly in my smaller bike's bottle cage. I especially wanted an all stainless steel cap, like my husband's bottles came with, so I was quite disappointed when the 500ml arrived with a plastic inner cap. I was also disappointed to not have the option to reject the plastic top and straw combo, which we now have four of and will never use. I'm doing my best to live sustainably, and try to shop from sustainable websites, so it seems counterintuitive of a website which claims to be sustainable to not let customers only choose they things they actually want rather than the packages put together by the sellers. Because I didn't want to use the plastic top, I then ordered a replacement all-steel top, but the new style seems less well manufactured than the originals, doesn't match the old steel tops and doesn't have the cool botl logo on the top. So, all in all, I'm pleased with the bottles themselves, less so with the tops. I've chosen 'I would not recommend this product' because of the all lid issues mentioned above.”

Due to the carbon emissions of sending the unwanted caps back, we recommend freecycling or recycling them. Our caps can go in the household recycling bin. Please remove the silicone valve and seal before, and check with your local recycling council to see how to recycle locally, as all councils have different requirements. “Love the bottle and delighted that you were able to supply a plastic free top and that should we need to, our old One Green Bottle metal lids will fit the new bottle. You seem to need to tighten the lid very tightly to avoid leaks (far more than with our existing bottles). We already have a chip in the colour on the outside of the bottle after just a few days of use.”

“I had to order a new bottle cap for my existing bottle but was unable to draw any liquid through it. I had to remove the rubber'breath hole' and found that there was still a piece of rubber covering the exit hole that hadn't been removed during manufacturing.”

“I had to buy a replacement bottle lid as the previous one with a straw cracked. This happened in my daughter's bottle too. New simple lid without a straw seems to be more robust.”

We offer a 12-month warranty that covers manufacturing issues, although accidental damage unfortunately isn’t covered. Due to the nature of polypropylene, it is a little more brittle compared to softer plastics commonly used in chemical leaching bottles. However, all of our products are eco-friendly and can be readily recycled. We also sell a variety of replacement caps in case of accidental damage and to suit different preferences, allowing customers with existing bottles to continue to use their bottle, while also avoiding a bottle going to waste. Our bottles do not leach microplastics, making them a much safer option for both people and the planet. Many thanks

“I have an old bottle from OGB and want to keep it going so the ability to buy spare parts is welcome. However, two things I'm unhappy about: (1) No economy postage option, only an expensive 24h option. This makes its uneconomical to buy said spare parts, and many people won't. (2) The company says it's fighting against plastic waste but sends a big floppy plastic straw with a new bottle cap. I've never used my bottle with a straw: this should be an optional extra you buy separately. To be truly eco-friendly, this company needs a bit more joined-up thinking.”

Please rest assured that we do not make any profit from shipping fees and only charge what we are charged by Royal Mail. As for the straws, we supply 100% food-grade BPA/BPS silicone straws made from recycled materials and fully recyclable, which can also be cut to size. They come with all replacement caps and can be kept handy for smoothies or cocktails for those who prefer not to use them as internal straws in the bottle. “Ordered some replacement lids as they do not seem to last very long. One of the lids arrived with a missing seal, which we did not notice until it leaked all over the car seat. Luckily I have a bunch of spare seals from previous lids that have broken. Other than that, the bottles are great.”

Hi there, thanks for your feedback. So sorry to hear you're disappointed with our postage fee. Unfortunately, the price is determined by Royal Mail, and we don't make a profit on this. We did for a time have our caps with integrated postage, making them £10 each, and we took a small loss. However, customer research showed us that customers preferred to buy multiple caps at a time, which spread out the shipping cost, so we made it more cost-effective to have the shipping price separate. I do understand your frustration on this, and making replacement parts more affordable is something we are looking into with different shipping options. We are proud to offer replacement parts, which a lot of our competitors do not, as we want to promote sustainability, and fixing rather than replacing culture.

“I have recently purchased a second bottle. Unfortunately the new one leaks, I have sent an email and haven’t yet received an email back. I have also purchased another one for my mum,before releasing it leaks. Although I used this at the beach and it kept the ice intact for up to 8 hours.”

“I’m not sure how to feel about these. I wanted to return them but paying postage etc wouldn’t have made it worth it. The sippy lids aren’t particularly stable and accidentally ordered extra because I didn’t realise they came with the toddle weening bottles. They don’t seem to function well as described but simply as baby bottles they’re fine. The nipple is really nice. Very mom like. The colours are beautiful. The thermos/snack(?) container lid aspect is great and I didn’t realise it came with it. The description of the bottles and their functions could be more clear with clearer pictures on the website but for the discounted price they’re okay! Nice to not be feeding baby out of plastic as well as the plastic is only on the outer aspects of the bottles.”

“I like the bottles, but if dropped the lids break very easily. I have replaced the lids, but won't if they break again”

We use polypropylene for the caps, as it is easily recyclable and the safest plastic that doesn’t leach any unhealthy toxins into your drinks. This does make the material slightly more brittle than softer plastics, which have a shorter span of recycling and leach unhealthy toxins into your drinks. If dropped many times it can then break. Our warranty covers manufacturing issues, but not accidental damage, such as falls. We are proud to offer replacement parts, which a lot of our competitors do not, as we want to promote sustainability, and fixing rather than replacing culture. “I bought a coffee cup as my wife had one and I liked it's quality. I bought the same one for that reason, but when it arrived it was of lesser quality to hers - it seemed like there had been a cheapening of materials in the 2 years from when she bought hers. Nothing huge, just a weaker plastic lid, a lower grade metal. Her's is much nicer to drink from but mine has that plasticy taste I was trying to avoid.”

“500ml Banana Evolution V2 stainless steel bottle – botl – metal water bottle with straw cap. The bottle itself is great (leak proof, nice colour, keeps cool). However, the website advertises purchasing the matching sports cap when you buy this bottle, so I assumed it didn't come with this - it turns out it does, so I now have two caps. I also ordered a Sloop loop, which is advertised as fitting the Evolution bottles, but neither my partner or I could get it to fit onto the bottle.”

So far, we have not identified any genuine UK/European stainless steel bottle manufacturing base. Our manufacturer is based in Zhejiang, China and they maintain quality management systems and environmental management. The code of conduct in these specifications includes 11 fundamental principles based on the International Labour Organisation standards and the UN Charter of Human Rights regulations. The company is audited for working hours and compensation, occupational health and safety, protection for young workers, bonded labour, freedom of association, ethical business behaviour, discrimination and environmental protection. We have an independent Chinese-based quality team who are always on hand and able to visit regularly. All materials are tested to monitor material compliance and chemical composition. All products are manufactured under the licence of their FDA and LFGB food safety certification and EU Regulation 10:2011. This ensures BPA/BPS non-leaching food-safe materials and that there are no impurities, contaminants or toxins. “I love the fact that I can buy replacement lids for the bottles to hugely extend their life. But I do think £10 per lid is too much, especially as they dont last brilliantly. (they're use by my children mostly so get used for school daily). The 'hinge' area gets mouldy quickly even though I wash them out and dry them regularly. So I tried to clean them and the hinged bit snapped off. But they arrived quickly and otherwise all fine, and as I said, I shall keep buying from them because I love the idea of a metal bottle that lasts forever.”

“Bottles are robust and attractive, however I found customer service lacking. I was struggling with loud sipping and small amounts of water being sucked up, after following the FAQ information I emailed the give contact for further help but did not receive a response and ended up buying a new cap as I was finding it so frustrating to drink from. Hopefully this one lasts longer than the first.”
