“Extremely disappointing experience – damaged watch received I ordered a watch from OD’s Jewellers for £303, which was sold to me as brand new. When I opened the package, I discovered that the protective seal/film on the watch was torn, there was a mark/dent underneath it, and there were additional scuff/scratch marks on the side of the watch and bracelet links. The presentation box also appeared dusty/dirty. I contacted the store as soon as I personally opened the parcel and discovered the condition of the watch. However, the store has refused to refund me, stating that the watch was quality checked before leaving their store and that they have CCTV of their packing process. I explained that I had only just opened the package and that the watch has not been worn, resized or altered by me. I am extremely disappointed that despite receiving a supposedly brand-new watch in this condition, the store is refusing to accept my request for a refund. The watch was supposed to be a gift, so I now have to purchase another one elsewhere while I pursue this matter regarding the £303 paid to OD’s. This was my first purchase from OD’s Jewellers and, based on how this situation has been handled, I would not purchase from them again. My advice to anyone ordering online would be to record yourself opening the parcel from the moment it arrives, particularly with a high-value purchase. I really wish I had done this, because I never expected to find myself having to prove that a brand-new watch arrived in this condition. A very disappointing first experience and customer service experience.”

Hi, We are sorry that you are disappointed with your experience. However, we would like to clarify the circumstances surrounding this matter and explain why we have been unable to immediately issue the refund requested. Your order was delivered on 2nd September, and the alleged damage was first reported to us on 7th September, five days after delivery. As outlined within our terms and conditions, we ask customers to report any damage, faults or discrepancies with an order within 48 hours of receipt. This timeframe is particularly important for high-value items, as it enables us to investigate any reported issue as close to the point of delivery as possible. For quality-control and security purposes, our packing and dispatch process is recorded on CCTV. Following your contact with us, we reviewed the available footage relating to your order. Our records show that the watch was inspected prior to dispatch and that the damage subsequently reported to us was not evident when the watch was packed and dispatched. The watch was supplied to us as a brand-new item from our supplier and, according to our records, had not previously been sold, returned, resized or worn by another customer. We have also reviewed the delivery evidence provided by Royal Mail, including the photograph taken at the point of delivery. The external parcel does not appear to show visible damage in that photograph. We would like to be very clear that we are not making any allegation as to how or when the reported damage occurred. We can only make our decision based upon the evidence available to us. Given the condition recorded prior to dispatch, the delivery evidence and the fact that the issue was reported five days after delivery, we are unable to establish that the reported damage was present when the watch left our premises. We would also like to clarify that we have not refused to engage with this matter. As previously explained to you, the matter has now been raised with your bank/credit card provider, and we are cooperating fully with their process. We will provide them with the relevant information and evidence requested, which may include our quality-control and packing records, available CCTV evidence, Royal Mail delivery information, correspondence and the applicable terms and conditions. This will allow the matter to be considered independently and brought to an appropriate conclusion. We take customer complaints seriously and will always investigate concerns raised with us. Equally, we have a responsibility to make decisions based on the records and evidence available to us. As the matter is now being considered through your payment provider, we will continue to cooperate fully with that process and await its conclusion. OD’s Jewellers

“This was a somewhat complicated situation. I initially ordered some trainers and gave them a one-star review because they arrived with marks on them. While the marks were not too severe, they were noticeable. I contacted customer service to resolve the issue, but my email did not reach them. Eventually, someone reached out, handled the matter promptly, and offered a token gesture along with a 20% discount code for a future order. I felt this was a reasonable resolution and was inclined to give a four-star review; however, I believed the token gesture alone was somewhat insufficient. Overall, the product was acceptable, and the company’s response was sufficient to improve my impression of the situation.”
