“I received a prompt reply. However, the listed company or individual don't feature in The Institution of Structural Engineers listing. Out of 5 listings, I found only two individuals are members but none of these two has up-to-date CPD over the last 3-4 years. It is important that any listing you forward you need to check that they are qualified and part of a recognised professional organisation. Anyone can put the title MEng. or CEng next to their names and advertise their services.”

“It can be a minefield trying to find the right professional in an area you are not familiar with so I thought I would try Local Surveyors Direct. I was really pleased to find two helpful architect/planners replied almost immediately and I am confident I will be pursuing my project with one of them.”

“Although the response was provided with possible assessors with which I made contact with one who did not respond until a week later but sent me a text to say he was running late. I did not make any booking. After confirming a time/date address then failed to show.”

“Paul Moran contacted me almost immediately after I made an enquiry for an EPC. Made an appointment and was round within a day at a time convenient for both of us. He was very approachable, respectful and explained anything I wanted to know. Didn’t take long at all - job done!”

“This site was so easy to use and with in seconds results came through to my phone. Further results were tailor made to the local area giving estimates and details of the companies. With in 24hrs a local surveyor was booked and a survey has been carried out.”

“Being inundated with firms wanting me to use them was not helpful. And lots of emails. A simple list of available electricians and a little introduction is all I needed. The fact that I was phoned, unsolicited, was very intrusive. Thsi was by a company with 'global' in the title - well I was immediately doubtful about them. I spoke to an electrician Richard who was fine, but passed me through to a booking office - when I was told I needed to pay a about £78 deposit, made me realise this is not for me, and so I declined. I did chose the most human sounding individual, based on his introduction and he was fine, booked me in and demanded no deposit. So a simpler system, less intrusive would help; and more personal, optional (not cold call) contact was the more successful one!”
