“No contact has been made by the recommended surveyor in any form.”

“I made contact with one of your surveyors by phone and text him the details of the property. He said it could be surveyed towards the end of the following week. Nothing happened. I text him again...no response! I spoke to him again on Monday (two weeks after I originally made contact) He agreed to call me back within the hour...no response! I told him by text on Friday he had lost the business. All in all, a very disappointing, frustrating and unimpressive performance”

“I requested a survey of my garden as it had been invaded by Bamboo from my neighbours garden, when I contacted land surveyors they said I needed building surveyors, when I contacted building surveyors they said a needed land surveyors. To be honest, no one was interested in helping, I found the process very frustrating. I now have to attend a court without a surveyors report. I have absolutely no confidence in local surveyors at all, in fact they are disgusting.”

“Waste of time. The only response I got was from an automated source that after wasting the best part of a week said they didn't in fact operate in my area. Try somewhere else. I went to the RICS (Royal institution of Chartered Surveyors)website direct. Much better outcome.”

“Local Building Surveyors (LBS) provided estimates from two surveying firms for a HomeBuyer Report with Valuation. Both firms were contacted and informed of the referral from LBS, but the prices quoted were significantly higher than the estimates provided by LBS. In one case, the difference was nearly £300, a mark-up of 70% on the original estimate. LBS has therefore completely failed to make the process easier, and I have since found an alternative surveying firm through another comparison site at a much more reasonable and accurately-quoted price.”

“Not impressed. After receiving four automated quotations all surveyors stated that they either, could not complete the survey for the quoted price or were fully booked for four weeks. Complete waste of time. I ended up seeking personal references from friends.”

“Very disappointed. I inputted the details of the house as requested, age, size etc. On receipt of a competitive quote I made contact with the (reputable and well known) firm who gave the best quote. I was told to pay no attention to the quote from the website and the final price was more than 2 1/2 times the original quote. It's very hard to see beyond the fact that companies use a headline price to try and get you to make contact and then hugely increase the price thereafter. I ended up getting a recommendation from several agents and paid about half way between the two prices - which was probably fair. Extremely disappointed by what I would consider to be sharp practice at best.”

“I wanted a piece of land valued. I wrote to 14 alleged land surveyors. Hardly any read my requirements properly. 12 either did not respond or said unless my house was a part of the valuation they did not want to know. Only two actively responded to my needs - thank you to them. The other surveyors are a disgrace, only interested in valuing a house not a piece of land. to them it appears to be where they can make the most money!”
