“Unfortunately, my experience with Chris Humphreys found through this website was extremely disappointing. The survey itself was carried out on 30 July, but the report was repeatedly promised and not delivered. I was given several specific commitments for when the report would be provided, all of which were missed. Attempts to contact Chris by telephone and message were frequently unanswered, and communication was extremely poor throughout. The report was eventually provided only after I made it clear that I would escalate the matter formally. Whilst the report itself was detailed in places, I also found a number of issues with its content. A building on the property was omitted from the report, and it referred to gas appliances despite the property being oil-heated and not having the gas appliances referred to. I was also surprised that the report contained no photographs at all. Based on previous property surveys, I would have expected photographs to support and illustrate the findings, particularly where defects or areas of concern are identified. Overall, the quality of communication, reliability in meeting commitments left me very dissatisfied with the service provided. Based on my experience, I would not recommend using Chris Humphreys and would strongly advise prospective customers to consider alternative surveyors”

“I unfortunately found that surveyors wanted to be paid in full in advance, instead of after the exchange of contracts, when money is transferred. This precludes my use of them.”

“My search was for a structural engineer ut I received numerous calls and emails to have the bowing wall in the proverty valued for mortgage!!! I am not sure if the wording Structural Engineer is incorrect when one is looking for Structural inspection but valueing a wall is definatly sometihng that would resolve the matter”

“I used the website to get an idea of what services are available to me, an idea of costings and to compare prices. I thought it would then be up to me to contact one of the companies and arrange myself. Instead, I have been bombarded with phone calls, relentless emails and text messages, pestering me to use one of the quotes given. I have never been so bothered in my life! The idea of the website is great, however the method in which information is shared is not. I didnt end up using any of the services provided because I felt so bombarded and pressured.”

“Stephan Latham from akpropertyconsultancy Came to the house, borrowed’ some of our documents we agreed on a price for service. He then disappeared and has not answered his phone or replied to emails since ( 4 months) and not returned our documents. Worse than worthless we lost 3 months and our documents. Can you find out what happened and return our documents?”

“Thank you for asking for me. It was really unhelpful because I specified what I needed and my postcode. I was heartened to get a match and then response from Tamlyns of Dorset. When I called Tamlyn's they said they do not cover my area. When I asked why they made an offer based on my postcode the receptionist said that sometimes they have a surveyor in my area. I asked for that surveyor but currently that person does not exist. I think if you are going to work with companies then you need to confirm that they cover the areas they say they do and drop them if they are time wasters.”

“All bar one recommendation was anything but local to Poole, Dorset as they were based in places like London and others equally far away. Then I have been inundated by emails from these unacceptable names. Al in Allan extremely poor service.”

“Used this tool to find a building surveyor, submitting the search sent my details to multiple surveyors who began contacting me repeatedly to try get my buisness all at once. I also began getting multiple spam phone calls a day which weren't related to building surveys at all, these daily spam calls have not reduced since. I had not submitted my phone number anywhere else so I am almost certain this tool caused the issue. I do not recommend using this tool at all, in fact I would actively advise against using it.”

“their definition of local doesn't match mine, London N11 threw up four recommendations, only one had a London postcode, google did a much better job”

Thanks for your review. We were a little surprised by your comment, and curiosity prompted us to check the locations of the companies returned for your search. One has three offices across London, two are central London based, and the third in the north Surrey London suburbs, but operate across the capital. I would also add that the companies themselves select the postcodes where they wish to offer their services - we do not simply pick them at random (or even by proximity) from our database. In all cases, even where a company's main office may not be 'local', they will invariably employ surveyors local to their selected postcodes, so the surveyors carrying out the survey WILL be local and have all the necessary local knowledge for the survey. Why? because they do not want to be wasting unproductive time trekking long distances between surveys, time which is far better spent on actual surveys and the preparation of their reports.

“I had 2 responses through Yourhousesurvey.co.uk I was £500 and the other £852 I checked what both were offering in terms of service and both were the same except The £500 could offer a date for survey only 2 days hence instead of almost 2 weeks I paid on line for the £500 service. This came from Your survey ltd from Dyseth they in turn booked Farrell Mills Ltd from West Derby Liverpool. Some 55 miles from the property to be surveyed!! Either John Dillon or Tony Flynn were to carry out the survey- Directors of the company. As soon as the money was taken and the emails received they had booked the survey for the following day. On the day mid morning I received an email to say the surveyor had now declined the survey stating ' 'that it is outside the scope of a Homebuyer Survey and outside of his expertise. He recommended that you book a Building Survey with somebody who specialises in that type of property.' This type of property he described at 'Geogian syle'. !! Its a 1973 brick built detached house.!! I submitted a couple of photos of the house to justify my assertion. I cancelled them in disgust and have booked another local surveyor after asking agents for advice. I was refunded the £500 today.”

“What a useless website. In all cases, the quotes I received bore no relation to the actual prices given when I contacted the firms - e.g. quotes for around £650 turned out to be over £1000. This is supposedly because the quote was an "estimate" - but it's just a plain old lie.”

“Absolutely terrible customer service. They agree to carry out work, site visits, calculations and drawings for a set fee, all agreed in writing, and then don't supply you what you've paid for. Happy to take your money, just not happy to do the work. Not only do you not get the structural drawings, but the report you do get is poorly written with so many spelling mistakes and poor fluency that you can't actually use the report. Avoid this company at all costs.”
