“I contacted four building surveyors using your website. Two did not respond. One said that they could not carry out the plans that I wanted. One quoted a very high price. I eventually contacted a company on the internet whose quote was reasonable and carried out the project in 5 working days.”

“Did the obvious thing to find a RICS Chartered Surveyor using the RICS website, was expecting to receive upto 6 suggestions (as indicated on the website) and received 1. This was for the Lincoln area. Doing my own research, found several other RICS Chartered Surveyors in the Lincoln area. RICS website is a waste of time for this.”

“Very Poor Our enquiry for surveyors in Heham, Northumberland was sent to those in Kingston-upon-Thames. We had a bespoke reqquirement, not for a standard service. We ust wanted to identify local Surveyors to discuss our reqquirement. Also the website was inflexible and did not allow one to proceed without answering specific questions. Quite simply - one of the worse! Below is a good example of the infleibility. We communicated with companies by both email and telepjone ie., AND not OR Colin”

Our site offers you the opportunity to search for local surveyors for a range of bespoke general practice and commercial services as well as the standard RICS 'home moving' surveys. The reason you received details of surveyors in Kingston-upon-Thames instead of Hexham is because you entered a property address in Hampton, with a TW12 postcode, and not a Hexham address. You may wish to try again using the most appropriate option from the 'Survey Types' menu, and the correct postcode. We can't guarantee you'll find someone to handle your requirement, but it should be a better starting point than a few hundred miles away...

“A long report recommending that we commission multiple surveys. This would probably cost over £1,000 and lead to very long delays in the purchase. The whole report was a masterpiece in taking no clear responsibility for its statements. We felt worse after the survey. So a waste of £650.”

“The website provided too little info for those not familiar with chartered surveyor services. I needed a red-book valuation but ended up getting quotes for Home Surveys from companies who then told me they didn't do valuations. A bit of a waste of everyone's time.”

“We employed Richard of Allen and Barber for our survey and everything went well until it came to payment. Richard sent us a self-generated paylink which we promptly paid. Unfortunately Richard did not understandthe third-party pay scheme he had setup holds on to the funds for a number of days. He immediately set about accusing us of not paying (despite the funds leaving my abank account), messing up the payment and exclaiming our bank had lost the funds. No amount of conversation was going to sway Richard from his stance and he refused to pass on the survey to us. After his tantrum and perhaps realising his mistake he issued us a refund (not sure how you can do this if the funds had never been in his account). An utter waste of time.”

“The survey received had a missing paragraph which only was made of 2 lines and clearly cut by mistake. Despite several requests I never managed to have it back and it was also marked as orange so "in need of attention." Furthermore, I also sent 4 emails as the reports included potential drain pipes and roof incoming repairs due but that was never explained, and I never managed to get a reply. Better to pay slightly more but receive a proper survey and, even more importantly, a reply when needed.”
