“Couldn't find a surveyor to do what I need.”

“After performing a search, the majority of surveyors who contacted me were not neccessarily based locally, but could send a local surveyor out. I was bombarded by texts, emails and calls from several companies - I feel that my contact details should not be shared automatically and I should be able to pick and choose the companies I want to contact for further details.”

“The site said that I should expect the quote to include vat, but could be subject to change on checking. I got 3 names - the first confirmed the price, but said that it did not include vat. The second confirmed their quote by email (they used the word 'confirm') but then sent a second email, with the same wording and a 30% higher price. They have refused to honour the first quote that they confirmed. The third name quoted a much higher price and I have not contacted them, or been contacted by them. The failings of the surveyors are not of course the fault of the site, but they should be doing more to ensure that the quotes are what the site says they should be.”

“I was very disappointed in the majority of responses, as they apparently didn't bother to read the problem that I posted. They just sent a standard reply for a full survey, which was not what I wanted. Once response had read the problem, but was far too expensive, however, GTA Chartered Surveyors and Engineers provided a realistic price, and have started the work - very impressed with them, so far.”

“The information was good, but I could do without the incessant spam from every surveyor in the land... Granted though, that's my own fault for giving genuine contact details I guess.”

“I asked for a Red Book valuation nd got Building Surveyors sending me messages. Not a clever service.”

“A good way to find surveyors but beware that many of them are not local. Also be prepared to be inundated with Emails from the surveyors along with telephone calls and text messages. To be frank I wish I hadn't bothered.”

“Pretty pitiful response - two automated estimates and one surveyor who called back. Even the one who responded was a different price than your estimate. So very disappointed overall!”

“The process of booking the surveyor was very smooth and they were able to find a mutually convenient time with the Estate Agent. After they surveyor visited, the report took around one week to compile. The report was 77 pages long with lots of standard paragraphs. There were some issues with the property which I did not feel there was anything like enough detail on in the report. The report talked of loose rendering to the left wall of the property but there was no picture of this and no way of knowing what constituted the left wall or what area of the left wall was affected. There was also a photo of a damp meter on a wall but no indication of the significance of this. I did go back to try and seek clarification on these points and some minor amendments were made to the report but it was still lacking in detail about these particular issues. Subsequently, I had to instruct another surveyor to provide more details on these problems which should not have been necessary.”

“I used your website to form a short list of Surveyors. However once I whittled the list to one preferred Surveyor I didny not confirm that appointment, The terms of business proposed, payment up front, no flexibility on dates offered and an aggressive, unhelpful approach were not acceptable.”

“Thought the initial comparison was good but have just been harassed by companies ever since, calls, emails, texts, wish I hadn't bothered to be honest”

“Felt like I was being hounded to be honest…literally peppered with calls and emails within two hours of making the enquiry. Prices also seemed unrealistic leading to concerns over quality. I used a local surveyor who I appointed directly instead”

“Got the job done and only sent the report after I had chased. All a bit last minute. Quality of report was poor - included saying that a fan didn't work when in fact it was just not switched on. Raised a couple of queries about the content and did not get a reply. If I need this service again, i will search for my own surveyor.”

“I was harrassed for days after using this service. They gave my details to EVERY surveyor on their list (not just the top one or two like other comparison websites). I was phoned and emailed and sometimes both by all the companies. Would not reccomend putting your information in here. After all that, even the cheapest quote was surpassed by our mortgage provider so we didnt hire any.”
