In most ways Lion is my preferred supplier. However your use of bubble wrap is unbearable. It goes against everything that as a country we are trying to achieve. I buy from multiple suppliers and it’s only you who use this material. I suggest you place an order with DJ Simon’s and see how they do it. Perfect. All recyclable. Please do better in this area. Very disappointing.

Thanks for your review. Please be assured we are conscious of the need to reduce packaging waste but it is a balance, since inadequate protection leads to more damage in transit; in previous trials of alternatives to bubble wrap, rates of impact damage became unacceptably high and generated a lot of replacement deliveries. However, we have recently switched to a minimum 30% recycled plastic bubble wrap, which some customers re-use to wrap finished work, and we are about to start a trial of air-filled quilts which can be deflated and recycled along with plastic bags. We also have an ongoing programme to minimise the number of stock products we pack in plastic bags and use a ‘zero to landfill’ waste contractor - our waste is sorted into flexible plastic, single use plastic, metal, cardboard / paper, wood and food waste ready to be recycled or composted. Anything leftover is sent to generate green energy.

Normally very good service just checked items and there is some damage to materials which appear to be damaged befdor transit. Will be sending pics of damaged materials soon

The Clear Film Polyprop 40mm Acid- Free 800mm x 120m, on my order and paid for on ordering has not arrived. There seemed to be four different parcels. Three arrived safely and on time but the polyprop film has not yet arrived. Can you help?

Generally a good service, but in our latest order a number of sheets of mount board had badly dented corners. Also too much was packed in one bundle which was too heavy for our staff to lift.

Disappointed that I didn't receive any notification that my order was going to or indeed did arrive (as I wasn't there on that day) Tuffnells used to tell me that it had been delivered and then I could go and pick it up from the people that had kindly taken it in...

I wanted to make some mounts for my own photos so looked for a mount supplier. They are quite local so asked about collection as they have a min quantity when it comes to mount board. This made my first order very expensive given I only really needed 2 boards so I ended up buying additional boards which I'll try out over time so I guess it's not all bad. Their packaging wasn't the best as the outer items show where they have had other things sat on them during transit.

The parcel arrived with two sides open where it hadn’t been sealed which was a bit disappointing and unusual as all other orders have been fine .

You order the boards regularly and it’s the main reason we do the 10 sheets minimum is to be able to pack/send those safely. The online chat was super helpful and polite - they later got back to me by email with another question answered. However I wasn't keen on the lengths being rounded up, and me being charged an extra £1.44 I didn't autorize - I only noticed when looking at my account. It's not a lot of money, but It's put me off.

Good morning, Thank you for your order and leaving a review. On the rounding up we do only send full lengths. With it being a natural product this can vary even across a batch. We do try and be as transparent about that as possible. Information should be on every moulding product page and on your order confirmation email. We recommend you enter the minimum required meterage to complete your job when ordering. We consistently get damaged moulding delivered that has to be replaced. In fairness to Customer Support, this is always acted on straight away and replacements are delivered next day with no additional charge.

I have purchased stretcher bars for years from Lion, so I was surprised when the last order arrived to see the stretcher bars I use for my canvases was different. I had to check twice to make sure I had ordered the right ones. They were the right ones but had the quality of the standard not the premium. lt saddens me when quality drops in a product you have relied on and recommended to others with what can only be in order to make profit.

Very happy with the framing but not happy with the cost. We paid extra to have the framing mitred so it would have been more acceptable to pay less for the postage as it needed much smaller packaging!

Excellent in all ways but one..... I requested that the despatch of the order be delayed until a specified date as there would be nobody at home to receive it. On return from our travels, the day before the delivery was requested, I opened the door to find the pack of moulding laid in the hall. It was a surprise as I had only received notice of despatch some 7 hours earlier that day when all seemed on course for receipt the following day as requested. I learnt that the delivery had been received through the help of our neighbour who had thankfully noticed the delivery vehicle outside our house and had a key to open the door. That was the second experience of this type in recent times. I cannot say who delivered the package. Note that I requested the delayed delivery using the Chat feature on the website, not as an instruction on the order itself. It was an afterthought.

The last two orders of mountboard I received had some minor damage. One delivery had a 3 cm dent to one corner of all 10 boards. The other one had the box wide open at the top end and there were pieces torn off the backing paper on two boards. Fortunately, this damage did not affect my final picture framing results, but it was disappointing and is my reason for only 3 stars. Lion has a great variety of products that are not available elsewhere, prices are good, and delivery is prompt so no complaint there.

Good afternoon Ann, Thank you the feedback. Sorry to hear that you were left disappointed with your recent delivery. Although we have purpose made mixed sheet despatch boxes and foam inserts to minimise damage, some minor corner damage can occur in transit. Any parcel that we ship certainly shouldn’t arrive open. If in the future our carriers attempt to deliver parcels that have been opened or are showing visible exterior damage, could you please ask the driver to record the damage and they should also then take a photograph. This confirms that the goods were damaged in transit and greatly helps us when reviewing transit damage reduction with the carrier. Although you have described the damages as minor, should, in future, you find that the extent of any damage exceeds what you can reasonably work around, please contact our sales team and we can arrange replacement or a partial credit. Lion cannot be faulted on there delivery, speedy service and product range. You do have to watch the quality though as sometimes it dips. Just ordered some small pan head screws and the quality is poor. The first screw I put into a frame the head snapped off! Posidrive heads are inconsistent some fit my screw driver and some don’t. Unfortunately I’ve now contaminated my existing stock by topping up from my latest delivery.
