Excellent in all ways but one..... I requested that the despatch of the order be delayed until a specified date as there would be nobody at home to receive it. On return from our travels, the day before the delivery was requested, I opened the door to find the pack of moulding laid in the hall. It was a surprise as I had only received notice of despatch some 7 hours earlier that day when all seemed on course for receipt the following day as requested. I learnt that the delivery had been received through the help of our neighbour who had thankfully noticed the delivery vehicle outside our house and had a key to open the door. That was the second experience of this type in recent times. I cannot say who delivered the package. Note that I requested the delayed delivery using the Chat feature on the website, not as an instruction on the order itself. It was an afterthought.

The last two orders of mountboard I received had some minor damage. One delivery had a 3 cm dent to one corner of all 10 boards. The other one had the box wide open at the top end and there were pieces torn off the backing paper on two boards. Fortunately, this damage did not affect my final picture framing results, but it was disappointing and is my reason for only 3 stars. Lion has a great variety of products that are not available elsewhere, prices are good, and delivery is prompt so no complaint there.

Good afternoon Ann, Thank you the feedback. Sorry to hear that you were left disappointed with your recent delivery. Although we have purpose made mixed sheet despatch boxes and foam inserts to minimise damage, some minor corner damage can occur in transit. Any parcel that we ship certainly shouldn’t arrive open. If in the future our carriers attempt to deliver parcels that have been opened or are showing visible exterior damage, could you please ask the driver to record the damage and they should also then take a photograph. This confirms that the goods were damaged in transit and greatly helps us when reviewing transit damage reduction with the carrier. Although you have described the damages as minor, should, in future, you find that the extent of any damage exceeds what you can reasonably work around, please contact our sales team and we can arrange replacement or a partial credit. Lion cannot be faulted on there delivery, speedy service and product range. You do have to watch the quality though as sometimes it dips. Just ordered some small pan head screws and the quality is poor. The first screw I put into a frame the head snapped off! Posidrive heads are inconsistent some fit my screw driver and some don’t. Unfortunately I’ve now contaminated my existing stock by topping up from my latest delivery.

Surprised to be charged for an extra length that I did not order. I appreciate that the length required may be different, but ordering 3.6m and receiving and being charged for 6m appears excessive.

Good afternoon Nigel, Thank you for leaving a review. On the loose lengths of moulding we do only dispatch full lengths and take the meterage entered to be the minimum requirement for your job. We do include this on the product page and the order confirmation email. Hi you have been very prompt in dealing with my deliveries. Unfortunately the rugby display case I ordered has been damaged in the delivery process 3 times. Apart from the obvious mishandling of the object which on the surface seems well packed ( plenty of bubble wrap and double boxed) However the fitting of the clear acrylic case over the black base is a loose fit so I think the packaging would benefit from that gap being padded with foam of some sort and further corner protection around the base of the display case which is where damage has occurred in all 3 deliveries. Hope this is helpful and fingers crossed for a successful 4th delivery!! Regards Giles Stanton.

Quick service, but disappointed with the lack of care taken when reinforcing the large cartons on the ends, numerous sheets of styrene that I ordered were snapped in the corners

Unfortunately my order was incomplete and damaged. This was quickly rectified by the excellent customer care team, although one of the replacement mount boards was also creased. I think Lion needs to look at how it delivers/packs card and moulding. Still a great company. Cheers Colin

Delivery times and efficiency always very good. Minimum order value and quantity (boards) and delivery costs are quite high though. Availability of chevrons etc. is great. I’ve had several deliveries with damage. These are resolved very quickly but it happens too often.

i've since realised why nothing fits the parts of the frames were parceled wrongly ie the long sides of the smaller frame were with the long sides of the larger frame! Also there was a greater degree of twist in the frame components than I expected!

+ Points: Very good delivery, always on time, but expensive at over £10 a time. Good range of products. Helpful staff. - Points: Damaged mouldings received. Charged for mouldings not received. On one occasion the Moulding received did not reflect what was shown in the Catalogue or on line.

Service excellent. Always polite, helpful and friendly staff. Sometimes mouldings damaged or warped but quickly replaced. My main problem as a one man band is the minimum order of 15 sheets of MDF and 10 sheets of mount board. I now am having to buy mount board from else where and am considering moving to Centrado to fulfil all my framing needs where I can order just one sheet of mount board and smaller amounts of supplies.

Hi Mary, Thank you for your review and kind comments. We do understand that on the sheet material but it’s a case of finding a balance between offering as many options as possible and ensuring it can be suitably protected in transit. We do find the 10 sheets is the best way to achieve this. You can mix and match any sheet material of mountboard size and we have recently changed the corri backing boards so they can be included. Anything above 1200 x 800mm does still have to go in full pack quantities as it is too large for these mixed mountboard despatch boxes. Thanks again, Regards, Lion Team

Found the online catalogue hard to navigate. I was looking for under-pins but could not find them anywhere! Also, as a small independent picture framer, although the dispatch and delivery is first class I find the lower limit of a £50 order and what seems an excessive delivery charge very off putting and will restrict my use of Lion and will cause me to look elsewhere where possible.
