“Recently ordered an off white bag. The bag was a bit big for my purpose and also colour was very dull. As such I returned it as I was looking for something more white. Also returned it registered post as requested, which cost £4.85!A bit steep for a return. Wondered if this should be built into the cost of the bag?”

“Quality of the bag is good, but it was described as white, it’s not white but stone/beige. I wanted white, so I still have to find a white bag. This bag was cheap so not worth paying for postage to send back.”

“I came across the website by chance, really loved one bag so after a week of convincing myself I really needed it I ordered it, I am very pleased with my bag, good quality soft leather. There was a delay in delivery, the fault of the delivery firm, and Anna sorted it straight away. I will definitely use Lakeland again.”

“My husband bought the Charlie jacket in March, it was lovely and fitted and received lots of compliments however by May it had a rip in the seam. We took it back and swopped it for a new one, no issues, in fact lovely customer service. This replacement jacket, 5 months later has, however, lost its shape completely in the stomach area. We phoned the Cheshire Oaks store who advised us to come in with the jacket to review it so headed in today only to be spoken to rudely by the assistant who served us. She eventually took photos and took the jacket to send to head office, after a few offhand comments and basically stated that leather stretches. After 5 months of occasional wear, the stomach area should not stretch especially when the customer doesn't have a stomach to stretch it! Photos have been taken of my husband in a replica jacket in store which again looks fitted, and photos have been taken of the unshapely jackets. Sadly all through this process, the assistant made unhelpful and flippant comments. A £300 jacket should remain in mint condition from occasional wear and I'm disappointed by this service and an official complaint will also be made.”

“I purchased a leather man bag last year from your shop in bowness, whithin a year the main zip broke, i am having it repaired at shoe and leather repair shop where i live and the proprietor informed me because the zipper is made of inferior brass and the runner wore out, he is replacing it with a better quality runner to solve the problem, if it doesn't solve the problem then its a new zip I'm afraid to say, bit disappointed considering how much it cost,”

“Taken delivery of a sky blue Fairfield shoulder bag which was reduced in the sale. I love the bag but the shoulder strap is far too short and I won't be able to use it as a shoulder bag. Also there is a strap which is shown tied up in one of the small photos accompanying the main photo, which made me hope that it would be longer than it actually is,or that a separate strap was supplied. But no such luck. Because the bag itself is lovely leather I have decided to keep the bag, but I have decided to keep the bag and will have to carry it as a handbag over my arm. Bit disappointing. It would be very useful to read reviews on the individual products on the product page.”

“I have returned this item as it looked too much like a biker jacket. I have been wearing your Lakeland brown leather casual jackets for many years and usually buy them in your York store. Sadly this was the closest to the style and colour I like that you had. I haven't been able to get to the store so tried this online but I guess there's no substitute for trying something on. Liked the three previous jackets I've had though.”

“I suffer from vertigo so needed a hat that had ear flaps. The hat is lovely, very soft and supple. It was originally £79 but reduced to £29 (with delivery £33. ) I think it is overpriced at £79, it could be £29 with delivery at that price it would be a good buy and I would recommend the purchase.”

“I ordered a crossover body bag which is a nice item, however it's a little smaller than I hoped. I had been waiting over a week for delivery so I emailed Lakeland Leather to question when I could expect delivery and they said my order had been mislaid but ensured me the bag would be delivered a couple of days later which it was. Mistake and problem were rectified to my satisfaction in the end.”

“I needed a soft leather bag for everyday use with cream sandals. The size offered was suitable. The quality of leather is not particularly good, and the lining is on the small side. That said, the bag was inexpensive, so if I get one season out of it, fair enough.”

Dear Mrs Coakes, We're very sorry to hear that you think the leather is not good quality. As leather specialists we pride ourselves on the high quality of our leather goods. If you are unhappy with the bag then please return it to us. If we feel that there is a problem with the leather and the lining then we will issue an exchange (and mark this bag as faulty, as sometimes inferior products can slip through our quality control). If, in our eyes, there are no issues with the leather then we will provide you with a refund. The leather used in our products has minimal pigment coating applied to the surface. This allows the true beauty and characteristics of the skin to shine through and provides a soft, supple natural look and feel, but this does mean that the natural look can be mistaken for imperfections. “The bag was as illustrated but I am disappointed with the quality of the leather. Although adequate it is not of the same quality as other Rowallan bags purchased from Lakeland Leather.”
