“Paid £180 for nothing. Was told to leave it a week but bees were still there. Customer service was shocking. In the end sorted it ourselves and managed to get rid of them. Dont give your bank details to these people unless they complete the job”
“Gel Application
I hired JG to deal with an ant problem, and the service fell well short of what was promised. We were told the technician would locate the source of the ants and eliminate them no matter where they were coming from and that if the ants turned out to be coming from a neighbouring building, they would block off that access point. Either way, we were promised that the source would be found and dealt with. Instead, because no ants happened to be visible at the time of the visit, the technician simply applied some gel and left within five minutes. There was no inspection, no attempt to locate the nest or any entry point, and none of the thorough work we were told to expect. I would not recommend this company, we payed £300, do not trust what they promise upfront.”
“Did not get rid of whatever was in the loft. The guy they sent could not identify the poo ! Contacted the office after being emailed to check and was told I was out of guarantee. Person I spoke to needs to attend a customer care course. Plus way to dear for services supposedly provided !”
“Terrible experience. Their technician attended our residential block on Bank Holiday Monday early morning and, through incompetence, used excessive heat near the fire/heat alarms, triggering a full building evacuation. Residents were woke up to a loudly sounding alarm and left standing outside because of their mistake.
A trained pest control technician should know not to use heat equipment near heat detectors. Even worse, there was no apology or accountability afterwards — the technician actually expected tenants to help locate keys to shut the alarm off despite clear signage in the lobby.
Very unprofessional service, would not reccomend this company.”
“Unprofessional treatment and unprofessional customer support.
Called for a mice treatment, they didn’t even check behind the fridge which is the most common area to place poison and seal the walls.
After explaining to them that the treatment was done wrong and sending over images of evidence, they kept on and on to say that the treatment was done right.
I wouldn’t recommend this company, they are unprofessional and don’t really know what they are doing.
On top of that, they don’t care after giving them a clear explanation and feedback.”
“Do not use this company. I had squirrels in the loft and had to pay £210 before the man came and set 2 traps in loft now I have an invoice for £420 when I email them so ebody called A Gale just sends it back. No squirrels caught have been caught”
“I had no problems. They did exactly what they said they would do and with no fuss at all. The rats which turned out to be squirrels have been taken care of in a humane manner in within the timescale.
I would recommend JG pest control”
“AVOID!!! Contact your bank or credit card - if they mis-sold to you!
Be very cautious of the positive reviews.
Strongly recommend you look at the negative reviews on Trust Pilot especially, which shows a worrying trend of complete lack of promised service, over-charging and Health & Safety concerns.
• Paid 50% upfront (£195) for Rat Control - after being told the service included an internal inspection and internal proofing, during the 1st visit.
• Technician arrived, said he “doesn’t know why Sales tell customers that” and refused to do the work I’d been sold.
• He also did not wear gloves, when handling the poison, after telling me 2 x sachets would ‘’kill a horse’’.
• After emailing the company twice, to advise no further payments were to be taken until the promised work was completed, they took the second £195, 2 days later. No further visits had been undertaken.
• I then requested £390 full refund, after they refused to commit to when they would do the internal hole inspection/filling - but I did offer £50 goodwill payment (without liability) to cover the 13 minute technician visit and cost of poison (you can order 25 Sapphire Rat sachets for £18 online).
JG Pest Control declined.
• Even though I escalated concerns to the company MD about being mis-sold to and the serious Health & Safety issues, they replied within minutes with “our stance remains unchanged.”
• No investigation, no accountability, no resolution. They don’t even care about their employees’ safety.
Important consumer rights point:
• Their own T&Cs state the contract is the phone call.
• If they didn’t tell you their payment terms on that call and mis sold the service, you are entitled to go straight to your bank/card provider if they refuse to refund you.
• Tokenisation does NOT give them the right to auto charge you unless you explicitly agreed to the amount, timing, and purpose.
My advice to anyone considering using them:
• Don’t use them!
• If you do…… Record every phone call (for your own notes).
• Record the technician’s visit from start to finish.
• Keep every email. Their own documents confirm internal investigation and filling of any holes found, are included on the first visit.
• Use tools like Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT to help you organise your timeline and understand your consumer rights.
I am now proceeding with my credit card company, a chargeback and Section 75 claim, and reporting the matter to Trading Standards.”
“JG Pest Control attended my property last year to treat flies and ladybirds.
They verbally assured me that if the pests returned, they would come back to spray again. The initial treatment worked temporarily, but the pests reappeared after about 6 months. I reluctantly accepted their statement that any guarantee was only 4 months and paid for a second treatment.
When the issue returned again just before the 4-month mark from the second visit, I emailed them on 9 February (within the period). No reply came, so I chased them. They then claimed the guarantee was void because I hadn't contacted them every 4 weeks for follow-ups — even when no pests were visible — and that contacting near the end didn't count as the first treatment having "worked."
This requirement was never mentioned verbally during visits, in any paperwork, emails, or (from what I can see) on their website/terms at the time. Requiring monthly check-ins "just to say nothing's happened" is unrealistic and wasn't communicated upfront, making the guarantee feel misleading in practice.
The team were polite and efficient on-site, and the treatments did reduce the problem short-term, but the handling of the guarantee and lack of response to my timely email left me very disappointed. I wouldn't rely on their guarantees for recurring pest issues based on this experience.
If you're considering them, ask for all guarantee conditions in writing before proceeding.”
“I asked for mole removal in my garden and paid £380 to fully remove and was told it was guaranteed. Sadly my moles remain and now they tell me only 1 mole is guaranteed to be removed. What is the point on 1 mole being removed? I wanted all like I paid for. Would look elsewhere”
“I still have 2+ visits, they've taken everything away and are refusing to come back or refusing me. They're also impossible to get on the phone unless you want to pay for something. Awful company”
“We chose JG Pest Control specifically because their website states that rat control includes proofing to prevent re-entry.
The issue was in our loft, which we disclosed from the start. The job was booked as Rats Internal. During the first visit, the technician entered the loft, identified access gaps, and explicitly said wire wool would be placed and he would show us where so we could add a brick afterwards.
On the final visit, no proofing was done. The technician stayed for around five minutes, removed the poison, couldn’t answer any questions we asked and left. We were later told that proofing in loft spaces is not included, despite this not being stated on their website, booking confirmation, or treatment information.
Customer service have now confirmed this is their “final position” and have refused proofing or a refund, stating that loft proofing was never included — even though this was never disclosed before payment and was contradicted by their own technician.
If you want bait only, this company may be fine.
If you are paying extra for proofing, be aware that exclusions are applied after the fact, not explained upfront.
Very disappointing experience.”
“They did not make happy it was the most distressing 6months the company seem to be run by customer service every time i called is was same first I had a one shot job did not work £297 I sent them a email showing them which they said that they could do the job I took out a 6month contract for the bugs first they called them mossquietoes nest 2months they called knots thr last month call outside insects I believe this company should not have taken on the job has I think I was told that they did not treat bugs I have been left still with problem had to get a new company in I ask for refund to pay the next bill I was refused I do see a lot of bad reviews around. 35i I counted I agreed with every one”
